Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn described Fyodor Dostoevski as the 'Pride of World Literature'.It would be difficult to produce a compelling point against this statement.
He has Dimitry and Ivan mixed up in Brothers Karamzov. I always felt like Ivan. The problem is once you get like Ivan then you go to Albert Camus' Absurd. In the Absurd it is difficult to not commit suicide. Russia has the highest suicide rate in the world. There a lots of Ivans in Russia. Dimitry was the one always running through the countryside in his trioka of horses going to Grushenka's place, drunk. lol I am a little like him, too. The pious brother is just outdated. Smerdyke kil

@thepeaceetlapaix The teacher has to guide the students into an enlightening discussion to avoid what you fear. Besides, I don't find it dangerous even for a naive person. Seriously, when more people read these kinds of books, the world would be much more compassionate and humane.
@thegreendestiny. dangerous because you cannt read crime and punishment without having pity and sympathy on raskolinkov´deed the same as in karmazovs crime..who didnt feel like an idiot after reading mishkin´s character and illnes.. belive me i read dostoevski when i was 19 years old. i admire him as seldom genius but he gives so bad feelings in poeple in such age.. i am now intrested how feel our world politicians when they read his works...

Dostoyevsky should be taught to every senior high school before they go to college.

Such an intelligent man, any more of his musings?

He is mistaking Dmitri for Ivan. I'm sure he knows the difference, just pointing it out.
