harbhajan mann isn't the first indian to bite this song. about 20 years ago malkit singh did a version himself under bally sagoo in the album "star crazy." that track itself is a bhangra classic. later on, artists like labh janjua and shinda have also sung it and conveniently left out any mention of "allah" and "ali"

He 'recorded it first'.. it was sung in the past for generations by the village folk... we have to understand that it was difficult for indian punjab's artists to record the songs as the industry as located in a far off Bombay..and there were only a couple of music companies but pakistan's industry was located in lahore itself..

He 'recorded it first'.. it was sung in the past for generations by the village folk... we have to understand that it was difficult for indian punjab's artists to record the songs as the industry as located in a far off Bombay..and there were only a couple of music companies but pakistan's industry was located in lahore itself..

Let me clear the confusion. In Punjabi LANGUAGE, Jugni means female of jugnu, a firefly. In Punjabi LOK GEET, Jugni is a character, an innocent village girl. Jugni can be happy, sad, hillarious, and serious.
And then in Punjabi LOK GEET, there's ALAM LOHAR's JUGNI, a tremendously famous LOK GEET.
n then Alam Lohar was the first person to RECORD Jugni on a VINYL CD. which is Pretty much the oldest method of recording music.
So there you have the information...make sense of it yourself.
