Technically speaking, Paul McGann did not re-generate as he only did a one-off special in 1989 and the series didn't return until 2005 when Christopher Eccleston took over.

Longest running sci fi show contuniously, they should be proud. There is only two doctors I liked David Tenant and my all time doctor Tom Baker. Tom had the charm and he will always be my favourite. I have seen sneek stuff of the new doctor blaaaaaaaaa. Thats all I can say. He isnt the doctor at all.

There was a possibility of Fox putting it in their Fall 1996 schedule. I know this because I spoke to a Fox exec the night of the broadcast. But apparently the ratings for it weren't good enough. And no one else would pick it up.

Wow, just from reading all of these comments, it looks like the Dr. Who world is bigger than I thought. Books? Crazy. How many of those were there?

Tom Baker is classic, but David Tennant is my favorite. Has anyone else felt like they're just regenerating the doctor in the newer series just for whatever random reason they want to? Back then they kept doctors longer. In the new series they've done 3 regenerations in 4 years. That's nuts.

n as for the books. there are around 80 0dd for the eight doctor. n another 100 or so for the classic doctors

i dunno. the writers are still to reveal if the latest regen counts towards his total. n the RTD reconned there was 1 group of timelords in all realities who governed them

well i put in McGanns yrs as 9 because the expanded media of the eight doctor is possibly 1 of his longest regenerations. covering the books, which covers more than 100 yrs. then the audios and finally the time war.

but tom officially holds the record as the longest and best serving doctor

Can anaybody tell me sylvester produced 2 dalek audious after remeberance, the genocide machine and return of the daleks, ace recognises the daleks in the genocide machine, so that would put it after the events of rememberance. In the genocide machine Skaro still exsists yet in Davros's next audio it doesn't, then in Doctor who the movie and The time of the daleks (both 8 doctor stories) Skaro still exsists. I'm confused, when was skaro destroyed?

well it depends on how wide a story ur open 2. i personally follow the stories of the Eight Doctor Adventures in which a larger dalek plot allowed them to save Skaro from its demise. which would then fit Kanns description of its destruction in the time war. (I accept that genesis contributes to the war etc. but more as things that lead to it not actually part of the main war.)
