    Second order...outlaw fractional reserve banking

These are the two chief causes of unequal distribution of wealth.

  • @ssgurgs9 don't forget the government that created these evils. also don't forget the World Bank and the IMF and the governments that created THOSE evils

  • iww.org

    Join the One Big Union!

  • Solidarity against the NDAA, Patriot Act, SOPA, "Citizens United" and solitary with Bradley Manning!

  • What the OWS people need to do is simply stand in one long line, hold hands, everyone, men, women, their children, the workers, everyone...and simply begin in unison to sing this song over and over.

  • @Canadees7 until they're peppersprayed and beaten with clubs.

  • @0106chip That'll be the time and moment to retaliate, fight back...too bad the USSR doesn't exist...if they did we'd have a good amount of support.

  • @Canadees7

Oh, yeah - the USSR and other socialist countries treated their workers so well. So well, that independent trade unions were illegal, wages were usually frozen, and due to shortages, basic goods were barely available for common people. Actually, independent, underground trade unions were one of the major forces that brought this monstrosity down. Any "support" would be no more than a foreign empire using workers to fulfill its evil agenda.

  • @TapOnX You poor soul, ruined by western propaganda. The USSR was what is known as Authortarian Socialism, as in strong totalitarian government with a Socialist economy, worked wonders for the Russians because they are used to historically being oppressed by an over-powerful government/leader. Solidarity Forever and modern Socialists are "Liberal Socialists" as in they want the government to be 100% civilian controlled and worker's rights to be through the roof.

  • @Canadees7

What exactly do you mean? If you are saying that western democratic socialists are nothing like soviets, well - I never said otherwise (especially if you mean worker rights' activists in general). My point was that accepting support from Soviet Union would be at best hypocritical if not destructive for the whole idea. I don't need western propaganda to know that Warsaw Pact socialism was generally about oppression and mismanagement - I kind of come from the area.

  • @TapOnX Ah ok, I misunderstood your post's context then. Yes Bolshevik Communism was more or less fascism per se...meh it sucked...

  • GENERAL STRIKE!

  • And to think that 70% of white working class males vote Republican! Go figure!!!!

  • Solidarity from Occupy Glasgow and the N30 strike action here in the UK!

  • Occupy, Occupy and don't STOP Occupyin' till we are listened to!

Things are finally happening in the world!

    Solidarity Forever!

  • ANARCHY

  • Saturday night at Hyde park before the police succeeded in making us leave and arresting 6 of us we huddled and linked arms to keep the cops from picking us off, and a man standing near me started singing this song. Within seconds we all had joined in. We stood there in union, singing and watching them stare. It was one of the most inspirational moments of my life. I've never had more hope. We can change things, we can overthrow the broken system. We just have to keep fighting.

    Occupy Sydney!

  • Democracy Now :)

  • NOTHING HAS CHANGED, IT'S BEEN DONE, WE KNOW IT CAN BE DONE.

    Fuck'em up.

  • IT WORKED THEN, IT WILL WORK NOW! OCCUPY NOW!

  • great video and photo compilation

  • Untold millions then = untold BILLIONS now.

  • when unions first organized in Canada, the government thought it was a communist uprising to be crushed beneath its boot. now the tea party accuses the occupy wall street protestors of the same thing, and we will roll over them as well. Canadian unions stand with all seeking social justice.

  • occupy boston!!!! R.I.P. Camp Rose

  • Technically we are strong already, the union tells us we are. The 1% don't want to have to do the work thyat the 99% do. Withdraw consent....total resistance now!

  • via twitter: #OccupyBoston arrested protesters are singing Solidarity Forever between cells loudly

    OccupyBerkeley stands with you!

  • Solidarity with those at OccupyBoston, OccupySeattle, OccupyDallas and OccupySTL. Stand strong! from OccupySanFrancisco

  • Solidarity! Occupy Everything!

  • Occupy Wall Street!

  • Solidarity from #occupywallstreet. I've been there since day 1, and when a number of comrades and I had to hide out on a roof to avoid the arrests on the way back from Union Square, we sang this to keep morale up.

  • We need to make these songs and ideas relevant to our generation. God knows the workers of today have a helluva fight ahead of us. So whose trynna a hip-hop version of this track?

  • Unions improve the quality of life for everyone...

  • Workers produce. Wall Street bankers steal and politicians collaborate with them.

  • Solidaridad desde España

  • The norm here is becoming legislation back to work during a strike, and appointing arbitrators friendly to the employer. Now more than ever it's important who we vote into office. They must be labor friendly and be held accountable for the actions. Solidarity from a Postie in Canada

  • Support unions!!!!

  • @0bdivis0 Unfortunately and ironically, greedy asshats realised they could profit from running unions. They make a profit from them, and don't give a damn about workers. Only the IWW hasn't sold out.

  • @SAOS451316 Sadly, while the IWW have the moral high-ground, most branches are basically anarchist historical societies rather than fightin' unions. It's more than a little frustrating, especially as a person who wants to be a part of a genuine anti-capitalist union.

  • R.I.P Jack Layton

  • Solidarity with the Verizon workers!

Let's hope Blackwater doesn't repeat what happened at the Homestead Strike.

  • Solidarity from Wisconsin!

  • You're lucky that your father was only fired and not....well ... you know :) Unions only work if all are united i.e. the UNITED States of America

  • @0bdivis0 So your dad cost your dad his job.

  • long live the working class

  • The only reason my grandfather, a petroleum engineer, survived an oil fire at a Shell OIl plant in WWII was because the unionized members of the construction crew working alongside him rushed him to safety and raised funds for to pay for his hospital bills. He wasn't even a member. True solidarity knows no boundaries; at their very best, unions lift all workers.

  • In Febuary they laughed at the Union people freezing outside while they tried to kill them ..... lets see how hard they laugh tomorrow ... when the votes are counted ...

  • Go Badgers ...... America is watching ....

  • @TheZazose Amen

  • YES YES YES ...WE CAN ...

[PS=Stalin Mao ETC where FACISTS not Comm's

  • @isaysee What in the fuck?

  • IWW forever.

  • the Czech's need another Prague 68

  • The USSR set the struggle back years..

Read Emma Goldman's words on her experience. She went over ready to support the bolshevik and saw what was going on. She left Russia as a big critic of them and pretty much stood alone on that assesment.

  • @NerdReporter I'm an Anarchist, and I agree with what you said. Seeing the death, sickness, and utter despair in Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution really shook up Goldman. Not to mention her meeting with Lenin. This was definitely a case of Anarchy and Marxism gone wrong, and we who believe in these ideals should take note so we do not repeat history.

  • @moonshiny74 Good points Moonshiny and NerdReporter. People love to use Russia as the "socialism can never work" example. Now today Russia claims to be a democracy, with elections and all. How many people would think democracy works by looking at that model today? Point is, Russia is a bad model to use for just about any economic or political system.

  • The 33 dislikes are scabs.

  • "Lies Concerning the History of the Soviet Union"

by Mario Sousa (on the net)

Read this before you make weak and pathetic anti-USSR and anti-Stalinist comments. Your assertions are utterly false.

  • Greece is in the crap, and these riots could well spread through Europe. Greece now owes a fortune to other nations in Europe. In a way Greece is now "owned" by them, indebted to them for decades to come

  • capitalism creates debt and poverty.

Was is the present US debt? 15 trillion? How's Greece going these days? The entire western system of repression and exploitation is creating it's own massive debt issues, it is, in effect, self-destructing-and it is glorious to watch indeed

  • count the causualties and the death toll from every single capitalist/ imperialist war, what do you think the figures would be?

Also, a major distinguishing feature is that capitalist systems have been in existence far longer than any socialist states have been.

Still, the low down cappies will lie to you, they want you repressed as an exploitatble human commodity-this is their true goal. You and your family exist to serve the requirements of the rich -this is how they view it.

  • To all you idiots bashing Unions: Listen to the lyrics of this song. That is all.

  • capitalism itself relies on the cooperation of billions all over this planet. Collectivism dead? No, actually its the exact opposite

  • Solidarity to the people of Wisconsin, Egypt, Tunisia, Spain, Greece and Great Britain.

  • These union thugs need to get out of my state of New Jersey. They have ruined our state and they need to go!

  • This is what I think of when I hear Socialism! For the people!

Corporations need restrictions like a Dog needs a collar!!

  • The govenor of winsconsin is an ally of Gaddafi, like him he opposes the will of the people....I call it treason

  • @rorybowskill Dumbest thing ever said. Unions have underperformed, over charged, and distorted markets for their own selfish gains. Learn to fucking teach a kid and maybe we wouldnt be the worst educated first world nation in the world. Union teachers stick together at the expense of the children they are supposed to teach.

  • @12345678tube I'm actually from the largest production of Oil Sand in North America. Operating Engineers, Iron Workers, Boilermakers are the unions I belong to. Although I think to a point the goal of Unions created by necessities has been accomplished, Unions have again and again had the safest work environment records and haven't under preformed. Boilermakers and Ironworkers, Labourers a lot of the time in the winter go around the clock 24 hours a day on shifts in -40 - -50 Weather

  • @IronColumnAnarchism That's great, and Im sure those men and women are very hard workers. This wasnt my point. Safety is not the exclusive domain of labor unions.

When I refer to the under-performance of teachers unions, do you deny that American students are overall poorly educated? Do you deny that those members are working for themselves and not for the students? If they werent, why do they need TENURE? If they suck, shouldnt they get fired?

  • @12345678tube That's a good point. American Education system is the shits. Many schools are caught in a cycle of Federal funding, which is allocated to under-achieving schools, in programs which were designed to HELP those schools improve. I don't think all the blame lays with the Teachers Union. But I do think the American Education system needs an entire revamp. Maybe on based on the German model.

  • @IronColumnAnarchism As you stated, the Federal, top-down, centrally planned system is a failure. They wanted to "help" but it didnt work (but they managed to buy enough votes spending other peoples' money to "help" the children). Now you propose another system that the Federal Govt will implement, and you hope for no corruption, no screw ups, and a big success? I'll tell you right now, it wont be implemented because of UNIONS. And if it is implemented, it will be primarily a vote buying scheme.

  • @12345678tube Hey, that's what American democracy has become. The Economy is shit, the Education System is shit. The kids have to walk through metal detectors, put up with stupid things like teaching Evolution and Creationism. America has turned their students into something of a quota.

Although Education in Nordic Model Social programs like the Nordic Countries have seems to be quite effective. Finland has the best education system in the world. I wonder what they are doing right.

  • @12345678tube except that the top educated countries mostly have much stronger unions than the US

  • @12345678tube That movie was blasphemous libel.

  • Death to capitalism, the filthy system of repression and exploitation

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY Capitalism pulled hundreds of millions out of poverty and into the middle class - more than any other single force the world has ever seen! Communism has killed/starved/imprisoned hundreds of millions of people.

It's funny that you bash capitalism online, since capitalism is responsible for the computer and it made the internet available outside of military use.

  • @12345678tube Actually, the Capitalist Policy in India 1947 - 1990 has a death toll of 120,000,000 million. Great Depression (America alone) 12,000,000. Despite that, there has never been a Communist government on earth. Communism was the goal that was never achieved by "Socialist" countries like USSR, China, Cuba.

Socialism doesn't exactly coincide with Totalitarian Government.

  • @IronColumnAnarchism Great depression was caused by government intervention. 3% to 8.7% unemp. in 1929 (the crash). 8.7% to 20%+ when the government halted imports, and began 'stimulating' the economy. Look it up, I aint lyin'.

  • @12345678tube Explanations include numerous factors, especially high consumer debt, ill-regulated markets that permitted overoptimistic loans by banks and investors, the lack of high-growth new industries. and growing wealth inequality, all interacting to create a downward economic spiral of reduced spending, falling confidence, and lowered production

  • @12345678tube Up to 40% of the available money supply normally used for purchases and bank payments was destroyed by all these bank failures. Furthermore, the debt became heavier, because prices and incomes fell 20–50%, but the debts remained at the same dollar amount. After the panic of 1929, and during the first 10 months of 1930, 744 banks failed.

  • @12345678tube In all, 9,000 banks failed during the decade of the 30s. By 1933, depositors saw $140 billion of their deposits disappear due to uninsured bank failures. Bank failures snowballed as desperate bankers tried calling in loans which the borrowers did not have time or money to repay.

  • @12345678tube Bank failures snowballed as desperate bankers tried calling in loans which the borrowers did not have time or money to repay. With future profits looking poor, capital investment and construction slowed or completely ceased. In the face of bad loans and worsening future prospects, the surviving banks became even more conservative in their lending.

  • @IronColumnAnarchism Dude, fannie and freddie took away any downside risk. Therefore, banks tried to maximize profits without fear of losing money. Government created the moral hazzard. Simple. You dont need 4 comments to point out the real problem. You just spewed a bunch of nonsense - results of the problem, not causes. p.s. you cant juts "call in" a loan, a loan has a term of repayment and you cant just say gimme my money back.

  • @12345678tube yes it did, by enslaving billions and exploiting them at the same time. Have you studied the industrial revolution? Have you read Dicken's "Hard Times"?

''Communism has killed/starved/imprisoned hundreds of millions of people.'

This is a prime example of the lies people spread on YT. Look at this bold assertion, unsupported by a shred of evidence. It is written as a fact, but it is NOT a fact at all, it's written for shock value.

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY Mao gave the farmers land, then took it back once in power. He had communes compete for max rice production - so they fudged the numbers and planted too closely to increase yields. 1959 to 1961 had 20 millions deaths alone - and that is their OWN numbers. The reality is surely much worse. It IS a fact, you stupid commie faggot. You can shut your throat with a big fat capitalist dick.

  • @12345678tube

'Lies Concerning the History of the Soviet Union" Mario Sousa (on the net)

"Another View of Stalin" Ludo Martens (on the net)

and other articles on Chairman Mao can be cited as well.

Do you homework and shut your throat

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY communism is a philosophy of poverty. It is intelectually empty, just like it's adherents. Uneducated, violent, stupid - no way to live, so just end it communistphilosophy.

  • @12345678tube it (capitalism) pulls millions out of poverty while concentrating masses of wealth at the top of society. It resovles poverty by creating enslavment to"the wage"system. It thus merely creates the "image" of luxury and consurmerism. An image you believe is real lol. You must be delluded.

This computer was made by workers in a factory. The USSR also had many inventions, but you are too narrow minded to even study them

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY Yeah, the USSR invented goulags, bread lines, and closed cities. They were worried about steel and concrete production quotas (they were out producing EVERYONE), while the decentralized market in the US was producing computers, vaccines, and corvettes.

This image of luxury keeps people with a refrigerator stocked with food, two cars per family, excellent medical care (compare that to USSR, ha!), TV's, computers, a wardrobe full of nice clothes , etc.

  • @12345678tube man, thats so impressive: homeless on the streets of the U$A, unemployed, over 15 trillion US debt, Guantanamo bays human rights violations, Abu Ghraib, prison violations ...........(fills a whole book case of US atrocities).

Did you by a dildo to ram up your own ass as well, that's the essential household appliance for someone like you living in the west lol

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY Good one buddy. Seems like ur obsessed with buttsex with dudes. Whatever, I dont judge your sexuality, just your stupid ass communist ideology. I mean it has never worked, ever, not fucking once. But hey, you're so smart that Im sure you finally figured it out! Good luck with that.

  • @12345678tube hope you and your family are collectively killed eg. in a fatal car crash BUT that you do not all die immediately and instead undergo incredible suffering for months even years before you all ultimately die. Heres wishing that becomes your actual reality , you dirty scum bag

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY Hahahah I guess I won! Im not dirty, I can buy soap at the store. Maybe the annual bar of soap you are allotted under communism is enough for you, but probably not and therefore you are a dirty piece of shit. You're a floater - a piece of shit that just wont go away no matter how many times you try to flush it ( or present it with cold hard facts). I beat you. I beat you at the facts. I beat your logic ( or lack there of). I beat you at talking smack. Now you know what to do

  • @12345678tube And how many times has Capitalism worked? It's claim, after all, is that we reach the greatest common good by everyone pursuing their own personal good. Did allowing Wall St. to follow it's self interest provide for the greater good?

All systems are "good on paper, but not in reality." That's because in reality, they're run by the emotional, erratic, and ultimately flawed animal known as homo sapiens.

So drop the empty rhetoric, Capitalism's track record = shit too.

  • @12345678tube Really, that luxury had nothing with being protected from the devastation of two world wars by our oceans, and emerging from the second the only industrial nation standing. Free land from genocide, and several century's of slavery helped build a nice base as well. After 30 years of resurgent foreign competition (now no longer isolated to only Europe), our luxury has only been sustained on debt for decades now and the bills are coming do.

  • @12345678tube hope you and you family are killed in some accident, but not immediately, no, instead, you all suffer for years, bofore your death-which you then would welcome

  • This is what is important in the United States. Not being a world power, but ensuring a life of freedom and fairness for it's people. People argue that the United States has to give up some of its Unions and worker's must accept a lesser payment or their duties in order to keep America on top, but keeping America on top isn't what the country was founded on. I say we stop building democracy in other countries and let their people come here if they want the freedoms we offer. >.>

  • unions are the only voice that workers have, for years the rich and powerful have tried to silence that voice.to the teachers everywhere, united you will never be defeated

  • YELL BOOOOOOOOOOYZ!!!!!!

  • Also listened to "Which Side Are You On" because I knew that Pete made that sound much better than I could alone and the people know it's true.

  • solidarity forever!!

    Union makes us strong.

    I'm in local 113 thanks.

  • The back-up group is this song is not the Weavers, I don't think. I believe the back up group is "The Song Swappers" which recorded with Pete Seeger on a few albums in the mid 1950's including Talking Union (Folkways) which includes this cut.

  • Death to Capitalism!

    Death to Capitalism!

  • 32 people are scabs and company goons.

Sure, big business cares about you.

Just as long as your fund their severance package gained from your sweat.

Solidarity forever from a member of UFCW 653!

  • I've never crossed a pickett line and I never will! Thanks to NAFTA and GATT I guess a real pickett line will have to be in asia or mexico! Put a tariff on all incoming goods, as the origional government (oops!, founding fathers) designed. Idiots who scream "no taxaction without " should check history. It was an anti smuggling device implaced by the British to control the tea trade.Tea was not taxed, the tax was removed, creating a situation smugglers couldn,t abide

  • Communists pretend to support labor unions...until they come to power. The Bolshevik army opened fire on striking factory workers in leningrad. and the Communists in Poland were overthrown by Solidarity trade union. Workers of the world, unite against Communism!

  • @TheTollundWoman it depends what kinds of communists......

  • @Reyludd exactly, the early church were communists, as were the diggers & levellers, and Rosa Luxemberg said "all power to the FREE soviets". In fact by their comunal structure the pilgrim fathers were communists but NOT Stallinists or Lenninists.

  • @TheTollundWoman It all comes down to what kind of communists you are talking about. Anarchists are communists. If you go by Marx's on definition of communism, Anarchism is communism. In the case of the Spanish Anarchosyndicalist union, the CNT, the communists are the labor union. One of the few real world examples of communism in action was done by Anarchists during the Spanish civil war. The CNT didn't need a vanguard party or dictatorship of the proletariat to achieve communism!

  • for the win

  • Bust the unions and put the heavy boot of the Military/industrial complex's tyranny on the average American. They are selling us down the river and trying to take down as many as possible beforehand.

  • your struggle is not lost on the young, my father once partook in a wildcat strike, my italian immigrant grandparents fought for construction unions, this union raised lass fights on for my family's legacy and for the rights of workers everywhere, FUCK NEOLIBERALISM!

  • @shruberz ditto for my Romanian great grandparents. The sad reality is we have been watching their victories worn away for longer than most of us have been alive. Our generation must now fight to win these battles against the new, globalized, neo-liberal economy, or our children and grandchildren will again be slaving in the mines, factories and warehouses as our ancestors. That likely mean organizing new, global unions, and a new political party to go with them. SOLIDARITY FOREVER!

  • Solidarity forever. Never cross the picket line.

  • thats the almanacs im pretty sure with pete unless its a very very young ronnie i heard in the background

  • When the Triangle Shirtwaist disaster happened my grandmother worked 2 blocks away stitching book bindings. She knew some of the women who perished, as they would all ride the same ferry from Brooklyn. This event made grandma Union. I'm Union and proud of it. Stand with our Wisconsin Sisters and Brothers! General Strike or whatever we have to do to protect our rights!Solidarity Forever!

  • @whizbang47

Recall is the current strategy. The current WI Dem senators have shown their commitment to organized labor, and any new Dems better know who gave them their victories. That should at least slow the bleeding. Recalling Walker should stop it. A general strike was contemplated, but rejected as too damaging to working families in Wisconsin.

  • @whizbang47 that's fascinating. I hope you formally interviewed her, because that is a precious bit of history there.

  • In remembrance of the The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire 3-25-1911. Where 146 people died due to safety hazards in the factory, like locked exits. Which bought about the growth of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union, which fought for better working conditions for sweatshop workers. Unions brought us safety into our working environments. Let us not forget what the union has done for us the working people.

    Great song Ralph!

  • Pete Seeger faced down Joe McCarthy in 1950 - now the Republican's attempt to take down Bill Cronon, a history professor from Wisconsin who reminds us of the values Seeger stood for.

  • solidarity........such an antique term now. umm......jeeeez....I do not what to say.......other than antique.....no one cares about you! get that straight! we work for poor as# salaries and love it. You Union people are out of touch. Just go work minimum wage somewhere already, and give us a break.

  • Solidarity is fine, and unions have done much to help this country. They have also done a lot of harm and committed many acts of violence, as this wonderful video documents.

The right of people to assemble and to join a union should be unquestioned,

However, the right of an individual NOT to join is equally as unquestionable.

Pete Seeger is a Saint and should get a Nobel Prize.

  • @karenmyersforever It is also unquestionable that unionists have been the victim of violence far more often than the perpetrators. You only have to look over the border to Mexico to see a perfect example. The situation in Columbia is even more appalling.

I have no problem with people not joining a union - as long as they don't expect the benefits that others have fought hard for to be automatically be bestowed up on them.

  • We need to remember that this union goes well beyond actual worker's unions, and promote this to our neighbors and friends, even those that oppose us.

If we don't stand together as a union of people we will be overrun by corporate interest and big government.

I am a non-union worker that knows what the worker's unions have done, and continue to do for every person in this country, and on this planet.

The Koch Bros & their Lieutenants don't OWN America!!!!!
