  • Ground Zero(World Trade Center site) has been excluded from the GTA IV's Liberty City in a way that as though it does not even exist in the real life New York City while having the site replaced with the merger of buildings surrounding the Ground Zero.

  • i dont mind the WTC mod. but i hate people who think 9/11 was funny

  • i think they didnt include any 9/11 easter eggs , because 9/11 was a seriouse event . And gta is known for making fun of famouse land marks like "metalife" is called "getalife" in liberty city. i think rockstar wouldve gotten bad reviews like the game bully. so they didnt go threw the trouble in my opinion.

  • @rockbottom2844

Well said. I think you are right. They made that area of the map very generic, and little if any storyline stuff happens there.

  • @rockbottom2844 out of the subject, i know but the reason there are no planes are because idiots can get a mod that puts the twins in. people would then fly planes into the building

  • @AsboJunior i hear you bro , but i also think its because liberty city is too small and theres very little places to land a plane . Theres also one airport nd thats another reason why they added the small tank and not the big one . But your right , ive seen san andreas mods where they add the towers in. =/

  • i noticed when i died on top the majestic hotel facing the direction of the real wtc and i saw the twin towers when the screen turns grey right before it goes black in GTA 4

  • The death animations in GTA4 are interesting and I have one video that focuses on the death animation, youtube.com/watch?v=QMQI_IVOsUU, but did not see anything in it that was not already existing in the environment. Did you see this on a PC? Were there any mods installed (even if they were not activated)? Have you been able to replicate the event? If I can replicate this I'll record it. Thanks for the tip.

  • @Skinzarian

To access the provided link paste it into a browser address bar then highlight the last 2 letter U and retype them. This seems to work around an anti linking trick that adds a dash between the Us. The dash is visible in IE but not in Firefox. The link wont work reliably unless the trick with the Us is done.

  • in :53 that biding is in one of the missions on maifa 2

  • @MrBratkovics i have that game and i think ur wrong so tell me what mission it is and ill check ok

  • @thebestgamer2000 well in the mission the boys brake in to a jewery place and a rivle gange dives a car in there and the cops get invalverd and they walk the lege of the glass bilding or it is one of the missions but i havent played in a while

  • @Skinzarian they were not in it because of stupidly f'ked up people would be trying to blow them up because they're senseless and disprespectful

  • @terrists1 i have gta sa pc but i need to get gta 4 for it

  • @terrists1

I'm running GTA4 on a PC (with Xbox controller for PC which makes the game menus look like XBox) and using a video capture program. What eggs/glitches are you looking for? My favorite so far is a variation of the car cannon playground swing-set glitch with a motorcycle wwwDOTyoutubeDOTcom/watch?v=V7XnxQhwdvs

  • The construction site looks like it's based on the size, shape, and location of South Ferry except in the GTA world it's going to be condos instead of a ferry terminal. I don't see any intended reference to Ground Zero at all. The actual WTC site is squeezed out of existence in Liberty City: buildings across the street from the WTC are instead across the street from each other. Liberty City is much, much, smaller than New York City and there are more city blocks squeezed out than are recreated.

  • @MagicAlDF

Nice summary and I also do not think the ferry terminal/construction site is a WTC homage. I’m more interested in the Wintergarden which is realistic in appearance and location even in a game map which omits many things and bends the rest in an abstraction of reality. That said, the Construction Site is a hundred or so yards away from one of the spots where pieces of the WTC were loaded onto barges but that could be coincidental.

  • @Skinzarian Driver Parallel Lines lets you go back to when the WTC Towers were still standing and then you can go to present time when they were gone. There is a construction site in the place of the towers, can't remember if it was accurate on the site of Ground Zero but the towers were accurate.

  • Isnt it that statue on happiness island

  • @Anymous09

Yes but happiness island is in GTA4 not GTA Vice City.

  • @Skinzarian Sorry I get confused between both

  • FYI GTA IV takes place in Miami

  • @Anymous09 you have got to be retarded

  • @Anymous09 how am I retarded

  • @Anymous09 search it up on google Vice City Miami

  • @Anymous09 no.... it doesn't....

  • @Anymous09 I don't know how you think that

  • @Anymous09 FYI noo..... it doesn't....

  • @Anymous09

GTA 4 is based on NYC. GTA San Andreas is based on SF, LA and Las Vegas. GTA Vice City is based on Miami.

  • @Skinzarian I was talking about vice city

  • @Skinzarian but it is strange how of vice city is based off miami it has the statue of liberity

  • @Anymous09 There is apparently a mod that puts The Statue of Liberty in Vice City but I do not think the default installation has it. At least I did not see it on several play throughs.

  • @Anymous09 WTF

  • @Anymous09 ur a dumbass haha

  • @Anymous09 dude didnt u see the fucking statue of liberty, probably not because u where trolling

  • @HomeMadeAwesumness I am talking about vice city

  • I have been in that building before(Ingame NOT real life)

  • Ummm ya about that they look the same and they are but they are not the wtc dumb ass

  • @vxxlxD3MONxlxxv

I have not claimed that anything is the WTC and, even in your incorrect supposition that I have done so, you have not clarified the objects to which you attempt to make a reference. If you have a question or gripe you will have to better explain your self.. or we could go at it about who is a dumbass.

  • the blades look weird. it must be a pixel glitch

  • @cuzzythewolf2 ya know that can happen in real life too.. if a camera is almost the same fps and the rpm of the propeller it can look in sync

  • Yusif's condo construction/memorial for wrokers who died in accidents could Rockstars hint at ground zero (the condos are the base of the towers) while the real location would be around where city hall is. Although, Liberty City is a vague representation of New York City, so none of it could mean anything.

  • @JoshCF1

Right on. I somewhat agree with your interpretation of the work-site... and the fact that all of this comparing fictional to real world maps is subject to what I would call geographic poetic license which should not be taken too seriously.

  • this is xbox version right?

  • @dragonballz1ish

It's actually the PC version of the game running on a computer with an XBox wireless USB controller (purchased as such, not modified).

  • @Skinzarian How do you get one???

  • @NinjaSaiden

If you are asking about the controller I got it over the counter at an electronics store. Just look around for XBox wireless controller for Windows.

  • @Skinzarian Thank you

  • Have just came back from new york and the map to this game is spot on even when i took my helicopter ride down on the pier. this location is correct. would have been scary to be there when it happened.

  • @85hellopeople

It’s nice to see that someone without native local knowledge actually bothered to verify details (with a personal view of the site from a helicopter, no less). So many folks stand by strong opinions that are contradicted by all sources of facts, including the real world map that is part of the clip. Thanks.

  • @85hellopeople

but in regards to comparing the GTA4 game map to a real world map be warned that many objects are not realistically rendered or located in the game map. Part of my fascination with this is that the Wintergarden is one of the few objects in GTA4 that is accurately rendered visually and located geographically (albeit in a game map that is mostly fictional even though similar to a real world map).

  • Comment removed

  • if thats the wtc in gta 4 then why does yusif amir want to remodel it into a memorial for workers who died in accidents

  • @Nikelmasha

Good point. I did not know the back story of Yusif Amir when I made this clip and I don’t think the squares at the beginning of the clip are necessarily an homage to the WTC however, the logical argument you use to support your statement actually contradicts your statement. Any homage to the WTC would include many workers and that could be construed as supporting the notion that the squares are a WTC homage rather than contradicting such a notion.

  • I didn't realize a video game was supposed to be a direct representation of anything. . .

  • @alehizzle

When a game world map is based on a real world location it is natural to compare the differences and similarities. The decisions made by the designers of GTA4 about where to use real world equivalents in terms of location and appearance and where to use abstractly similar or mis-located material is a key part of this post.

  • Dude, the vid shows gta 4's rendition of the world financial center, eg next to the real life ground zero. Not the same place.

  • @fjh1616

Not sure what point you are trying to make but if you have questions just ask (I know the area extremely well). The World Financial Center does indeed surround this area as you suggest but the focal points of this clip are the Wintergarden (accurately rendered and placed in the GTA4 map) and the WTC site which is populated by generic filler rather than a representation of the former WTC or of the present ground zero site.

  • @fjh1616

Also, In another post you declare about the WTC that “it would be on the east side of the island, and not the west where the broker bridge is.” This is incorrect, the WTC was within about 100 from the west side of Manhattan as shown by the real world map in this clip. You seem to have much criticism of other people's portayal of possible WTC renditions and easter eggs in GTA4 but lack the geographic and local knowledge to put sense into your argument.

  • Stop Arguing

  • @MrBIGdogsBOLLOCKS

“Ah, wait a moment, is this the five-minute argument or the full half hour?” – Monty Python. But seriously, if a person posts here their disagreement with the incontrovertible I will “argue” the facts in the sense of a logical argument. Think of it what you like and click back or home in your browser if you don’t like it.

  • @Skinzarian Your a dick you know that.

  • I know so many things.

  • Bro i live in New York Its were the fucking Twin towers Were and SkinZarian is right its right there if you look at 9/11 footage the park down the block is Right there so suck my dickk and stop argueing

  • @TheHabbSHOUT

I appreciate your agreement and find it surprising how many people who don’t know the area strongly disagree while armed with no facts. That said, using a command to perform a sexual act as an insult is not much better than disagreeing with reality. Linguistically, there are just so many other better ways to go.

  • definately recognized winter garden

  • STOP RIGHT THERE!

The Twin Towers are on City Hall Building. Thats where it is. Ask hbx84, he knows where it is! Absolutely not on Winter Gardens!

    I'm correct!

  • @Romerjon17

I’m not sure what you are disagreeing with. When comparing the GTA4 map to a real world map and real world experience: In GTA4 the Wintergreen is realistically rendered in appearance and location. Also in GTA4 the area across the street from the Wintergarden is full of generic buildings where in real life that was the location of the former WTC and what is now known as ground zero… just as shown in the inserted real world map.

  • Wait at 1:34, You know your helicopter is facing to those two buildings. Thats where is Ground Zero!

  • @Romerjon17

Yes indeed and that is the primary point of this clip as indicated in the clip description. The location to which you refer is in real life the WTC site as you say... however the 2 buildings to which you refer, which are tiered residential or office buildings less than 50 stories tall, seem to be generic filler rather than a representation of the WTC.

  • @Skinzarian sorry to insult u but some1 created a WTC mod for gta IV pc and the mod was not located there at all

  • @luchadolittle

Disagreement is not necessarily insult. No offense taken. I am not sure to which mod you refer. This clip is about differences between original GTA4 game world map of southern Algonquin and real world map of southern Manhattan. Perhaps the mod you mentioned has the WTC in the wrong place - although in a fictional game world there really is no wrong place.

  • Although it sounds like you disagree, you are actually helping make my point, that being; Ground zero = where the twin towers used to be and would still be if they still existed. That is the point of this clip as is made obvious by the description.

  • GROUND ZEROOOOOOOO !!! its not twin towers

  • if you paid atenttion to the story the place where you where first is the building site for yusif amir

  • @TEAMKILLAR360

Originally I was not aware of that aspect of the story line (got caught up recording clips rather than progressing through game) but did later learn about it. That does add other interesting elements to any discussion but since I'm sticking primarily to geographic comparisons, in real life that structure is the Staten Island Ferry Terminal.

  • That area is definitely meant to be battery park! no doubt in a parallel universe there is a version of GTA 4 which has a version of the twin towers in that spot.

  • nice

  • That isn't were it was

  • @HeartagramBAMF

We might actually being the same thing depending on what you mean by "it". Read clip description. Check a map. Trust information someone with decades of familiarity with the area. Everything therein is true.

  • this is a copy of gta787 right

  • @GameTrailersHD1

same answer i gave you last summer

  • Rockstar obviously wasn't going to make a ground zero. Imagine how much smoke wouldve been blown from that. There would be lawsuits and all this crazy stuff and rockstar just didn't want to be involved.

  • @Irishkid28

You got that right. In fact it was the jusxtaposition of the very accurately rendered Wintergarden (distinctive but not enough so to stir the lawsuit pot) with the generic filler used at what would be the WTC site across the street that got me started on this.

  • how do you turn off radio on xbox??

  • @edvuzas

Pressing and holding the left D-Pad button should shut the radio off.

  • @Skinzarian same thing if you do it to the right :P

  • what can u do there

  • @computersgenius

Nothing really (other than comparing it to a real world map).

  • @Skinzarian

    oh thanks

  • how come you didnt go over ground zero.. all you did was fly inbetween the world finantial center

  • @LaryLonoe

That is explained by the notes and inserted map but to add, ground zero would be in front of the helicopter at 1:30 in this clip.

  • Shit usama will see the vid and then again blast(:

  • At the very beginning of this video, I notice a mouse cursor and PC buttons. Then goes through Xbox 360 buttons.

  • @jakesteven1980

Good catch. I missed that when editing. Im playing GTA4 on a PC with an X-Box wireless controller. The game shows control commands for whichever device was most recently used. I pressed a keyboard key to start the video capture which caused the keyboard commands to be displayed, then I switched to the controller to navigate and play the game at which point the controller commands were shown.

  • @Skinzarian I see

  • GTA 4 BEST GAME EVER !!! LOVE playing it online.... Wanner play ???

  • @jefhemmje

While the Unreal Tournament series has always been at the top of my list for gameplay dynamic, the GTA series has always been my favorite for the interactivity of the game world and for the vehicle physics. I havent yet played GTA4 on-line but wouldnt mind giving it a try. Whats a good game type to start with? Something that allows a GTA4 on-line noob to do some exploring without costing team progress.

  • Rebuild twin towers! :/ Good video ;)

  • this is th eplace where playboy x makes you take out people for yusuf.

  • @deathjoker666

Just occurs to me; I wonder if the juxtaposition of an Arabic sounding name with construction foot prints of similar proportion to WTC might actually have been a bit of an inside joke at Rockstar. The footprints are indeed about 100 yards from one of the locations where in real life the WTC pieces were loaded onto barges. Doesnt convince me but does make me wonder.

  • Listen. GTA IV is in Liberty City. WTC whas in New york City. Liberty City is only Losly based on New York. so WTC were never in Liberty City.

If you take the GTA IV map and a New York map you will see the Difrens, bidd time.

  • We could not agree with each other more. The point of this clip is to compare locations of real world objects in NYC to their locations in GTA4. It is entertaining to see where the game developers have deviated from the real world map (which they often do) and where they have stuck to it (which they rarely do). I call this geographic poetic license and you call it loosely based on NYC and those are the same thing. Feel free to read the clip description and earlier posts for more about that.

  • @andvas1994

Also, as a man of a certain age (older than your parents if your YouTube bio is accurate), a lifetime New Yorker, former NYC employee, and cyclist who rode to work on a course parallel to the heli flight in this clip for 3 years I might not need a NY map as much as you but I still check maps anyhow. Did you not see the real world map inserted from 1:12 1:27? I hope its not past your bed time son.

  • yea. one thing they cept almost a 100 % real is the empire stat building. that is Caled Roterdam tower in GTA 4. sory i do not spell so good.

but you know what i meen.

  • @andvas1994

I guess its not past your bed time, and I apologize for that snipe. Im with you about the Empire state building. Also, in this clip, the black structure at the end (The Wintergarden) is accurately rendered in appearance and location.

  • I am 20 years old. i made this User for my little brother. so i use it some time.

Liberty City and New York city is two difrent City,s. Liberty City Does not Exist. it newer did!!! so the place you cal the Location of the WTC are the Location of the yusuf towers. take the map of New york. not only Manhaton. but al of new York. and The GTA 4 liberty City Map.

and you will see that it is As difrent as it can get.

  • @andvas1994

That is the point of this clip! Liberty City is based on NYC and there are many comparisons to be made between the fictional map in the game and the real map of NYC. The fact that someone makes those comparisons does not mean they think the fictional game map is real. I suggest you read the clip description and earlier posts in this thread before you comment further.

  • i do not realy Care for GTA. i play the story. and thats all. and i am Tierd of GTA. it is Boring.

it's only kil kill kill drive drive drive and Steeal from a fagot. so i do not realy Care for a Ugly game City. GTA i old. thy better make something new.

make a game whit some point.

  • @andvas1994

I've always like the open environment in the GTA series but have to agree with you. At about 40% complete in GTA4 I lost interest and started just playing with video clips and staged tricks.

  • i am more in to HEAVY RAIN Now.

i like the story and the control in the game.

  • @andvas1994

Likewise, I moved on to Crysis Warhead and Batman Arkham Asylum, and back to my true video game love - UT3.

  • ok. i hawent got the HEAVY RAIN yet. it got sold out in under 60 min last time. so i do not dear say it ewen on youtube when tey get it in. bechaus there is so many that want that game people can kill for it. so i better get to Elkjøp befor everyone els. i hawe a Contact you know, that told me how many they hawe orderd and how much it wilcost and when tey get it in. i hawe the time it gets in.

    and even the price.

  • There are no Twin Towers in GTA IV, that is just a terrain of Yusuf Amir

  • @SuperVipers

I did not recognize the name Yusuf Amir until I looked it up (thanks for the incidental tip). It seems that he is a character in The Ballad of Gay Tony, or perhaps he appears later in the original GTA4 story line, and yes indeed, in The Ballad of gay Tony his territory is the exchange area which, as you state, has no towers. Thats kinda the point of this clip as indicated in its description and earlier comments.

  • @Skinzarian

In an misison of Playboy X, you have to kill some man for playboy X because he wants that Yusuf Amir thinks about him or something :P

  • @SuperVipers

I played through that mission without even realizing that. Thanks again.

  • GTA787 Has a video you have copied him wtf

  • @GameTrailersHD1

Ugh, another declaration without fact checks. Well at least you weren't overtly rude about it. Explanation to follow.

  • Youre mistaken. Read comments at both posts or check with GTA787 and youll find I communicated directly with GTA787, gave due credit for the discovery, and defended GTA787s post in its comment thread. You could also confirm facts of geography to see that this clip is an expansion of GTA787s and provides corrected and additional information. Also consider that the highlight of this clip is the Wintergarden and the location where the WTC site would be if accurately rendered in the game.

  • gta787 claims that this is wtc which it isn't. its yusuf's site for his apartments for his immigrant friends. there's no wtc in gta 4 or any other gta game.

  • @deathjoker666

Im inclined to agree with you but can see how folks might think the building footprints at the beginning are a WTC homage. Although in real life they are about a mile away from the WTC site and there is actually a ferry terminal at that location they are the same size and proportion of the footprints of the real WTC however the real WTC was across the street from the black structure (Wintergarden) at the end of the clip.

  • i kno oh well the game was awsoem tho wish there was more leavels i want more ima get the new gta

  • how did u get there evry time i go there on the game i get an instant 6 star warent level and get killed and i need a helecopter cheat code cuz all the bridges r blocked

  • @earthwingnewsletter

Nothing special other than having progressed to a certain point in the storyline when Algonquin and the Helicopter Tours have opened. A heli can be jacked at the tourist heliport without getting a wanted level (as long as you avoid avoiding flying over airports or military installations, of which there are none along this route).

  • thats cuz u need to beat more leavels i beat the game tho

  • @antoniorocks969

GTA4 is not based on progressing through levels but rather it is based on completing storyline based missions and freely available missions, all measured by percentage complete. Algonquine and the tourist heliport both open well before you reach 50% overall game completion.

  • Its true, but there is no ground zero on gta 4

  • @GadinhoTheLegend

That is correct. Rockstar used generic buildings in the area that would be ground zero which is directly across the street at 1:31 in this clip.

  • this is true this is true i looked on google maps and buy seeing this vid i put wtc on google map and i saw same location

  • i cant wait until the new WTC aka freedom tower is complete i mean i like the new towers but nothing could replace the old towers R.I.P 1973-2001

    ps.there r going to be 4 towers i think

  • Its the World Financial Center! Next to Ground Zero! Its also there in Real Life!!

  • @HDLumixTZ7

Good point. I was so focused in particular on the Wintergarden (I used to cycle past the real one every day) that I did not realize that the buildings on either side of it are fairly accurate renditions of the World Financial Center (which I also cycle past every day but never cared about). Thanks!

  • great quality well done

  • @realsane09

Thanks! Twas a byproduct of tech profession and video hobby.

  • cool now the plane crash on the twin tower BOOM

  • @jeroen207 How is that cool? Nothing about 9/11 is cool.

  • Thanks jubjub (and say hello to Selma Bouviere for me;). Perhaps jeroen207 is confused betweeen what is grimly fascinating and what is cool.

  • gta 4

  • i think they may not of shown it to try an not b disrespectful

  • I would go and see for myself, but my Xbox is in repair.

  • wat gta game is this ? ied love to know

  • GTA IV

  • GTA IV

  • i didnt understand a shit my friend explain yourself!@#$%

  • If you have a question, ask it.

  • @Skinzarian I have a question: why didn't you show us the towers around you to see if they could be confrontable with the reality? So do you think this is a remake of the WTC with the other towers?

  • I dont think this is a remake of the WTC but some people do think it's a tribute. My focus was on the 2 short buildings at the start and the black glass structure at the end so I showed little else, but I did explore the area to see how realistic it is. As is the case in GTA maps; distinctive real buildings are shown in the game but often inaccurately located. There are also filler buildings that are not models of any real buildings but do use colors and textures that match the neighborhood.

  • At the beginning of this clip the Ferry Terminal and surrounding area are a mix of real and filler buildings. At the end of the clip the Wintergarden is realistic, but across the street from it, where the real WTC was there are filler buildings (in real life it looks like a construction site).

  • WTF! there is also a twin tower in Dubai!

and it says on the roof rolex and that are the 2 twin towers of Dubai!0:41

  • I dont understand. Could you please explain.

  • listen...

there is also a twin tower in dubai and that looks like the 1 in Dubai of its a little bit different, thats it

    peace and love!

  • Point taken. There are indeed buildings that look like other buildings:)

In this case I'm comparing the the GTA4 game map and elements to those in the city on which it is based, but that would not preclude Rockstar's placing references to other locales.

  • there are trade centers in almost every developed country and alot of them are twin towers

  • nice knowing were it is i know were it is to a couple of bulidings over there a fake to cover up ground zeo

  • lol! the place you were at at the beginning was the REAL trade center! its ground zero! its being rebuilt! dont you see!

  • YoYo Get a map! Or even better get 2 maps of Manhattan. One from 2000 and one from 2009. The location under the helicopter's start point is in real life the Staten Island Ferry terminal just east of the south tip of Manhattan. in fact it could be argued that the building footprints at the start of this clip are not a WTC homage but rather a sloppily rendered version of the roofs of the Staten Island Ferry terminal buildings.

  • WELL FUCK! SORRY! im not much of a new york person! :P

  • I certainly would not expect everyone to know this stuff (thats why I made the video) but I would hope folks check facts before making declarations.

  • I wish the attacks never took place on 9/11. If it didn't happened, Rockstar would have put the WTC in GTA3 and GTA4.

  • buildings look very similar to what might've come of that proposed design had the government not decided to instead turn ground zero into Memory Foundations (what it is today.) I'm having trouble find a picture of that particular one, but in January 2002, New York City art dealer Max Protetch solicited 50 concepts and renderings from artists and architects, which were put on exhibit in his Chelsea art gallery. Then, in 08/2002 the LMDC had a contest for WTC designs with 7 semi-finalists. So 100s

  • In spite of having since lost interest due to years of bickering with little progress I do remember the local news and discussion about the architect bids. It never occurred to me to investigate what Rockstar used as filler for the real WTC site. That area (in front of the helicopter before I turn around to face the river) seems rather generic but with Rockstars penchant for easter eggs who knows?

  • If I'm not mistaken, during the aftermath of 9/11 there were constantly talks on the news of the government considering building new World Trade Centers as one of the possible tributes to lives lost in 9/11. The most talked about one was one that would have four towers, one at each corner, but my favorite one was two taller buildings that were connected at the bottom and had a giant glass archway in the middle. It's been eight years and it was a black and white sketch, but I'm pretty sure these

  • it wasnt that close to the river was it???

  • The real WTC was not directly on the Hudson River but was fairly close. Most of what was between WTC and the river is a high end housing complex (Battery Park City) and city parks space. The WTC towers were tall enough that from inside looking out the westward windows (on the 87th floor of tower 2 in my case) it felt like you were looking right over the river even though the river was 100 yards or so away.

  • wow

  • lol

  • Correction: I've been saying that the GTA4 WTC (if that's what you think it is) is in real life some piers where it was carted off, but that is incorrect. The GTA4 WTC is where the Staten Island Ferry Terminal is in real life, a few hundred yards south of the piers, so that symbolism goes out the window.
