  • I'm not gonna lie, but I thought that I'd listen to a minute of this out of curiosity and hate it, but this is quite nice. Well done!

  • @MicrophoneAssassin13 Thank you and glad you enjoyed! One must be careful how they handle a Transcription. I will be doing (eventually) the 1st mvt. of Beethovens Pastoral Symphony ala the Fantasia version. Lots of things worked out, but quite tricky to pull off. It sounds great..............at least I think so. This Organ suddenly becomes an Orchestra. Just wait. :-)

  • started off watching thinking, no its not doing it for me. Then as you played, it sounded as if this piece was written for this instrument. Your playing is superb, great crescendo throughout. You captured the spirit of the piece, fantastic...its a yes from me!

  • @csuk73 Thank you. For doing something like this I kind of had to be a little inventive as to how long to hold the notes and let tones loverlap so to speak and make a sustain quality to the piece. Now I wish I had performed the entire 1st mvt. which I CAN play. I "abridged" because of the attention span of the viewers.

  • Awesome!!! :)

  • @TheeLifeOfBob Thanks and so glad you liked. Hope Beethoven isn't too mad at me for doing this version for Reed Organ. LOL :-)

  • Ohhh my favorite piano sonata!! It sounds so vintage and I love that! Great video Justin :)

  • @1AGRIPPINA

    No, not at all,

I tried to be very much realistic when commenting.

    Sweet hugs

  • I love the blending tones :) I almost cried a little...out of joy of course.

  • @xlheartlx Thanks. Yes, the "Blending-Tones" is what helped as the sound is heard at the instant and no reverb to help do it for one such as would be available in a large hall/church or whatever. The secret was to hold on to the 1st note of every Triplet and not lift up until well into the 2nd note of the triplet. (A few other things as well.) Quite an experience trying to figure-out how to make this piece work. Now I wish I had recorded this 2 days later as the technique was improved upon.

  • Thanks for this Justin, it is very nicely done.

  • A very nice piece. I like such melancholic music. And your reed organ sounds very good. :-)

  • @TheTschick Thank you and so glad you liked the music! :-)

  • very good choice

    one of my favorites

  • Lovely music as always sir.

  • @legolasisthebest Thanks. Hope all has been well with you. Take care-

    Justin~

  • Justin, thanks for proving in each video of yours that a reed organ is an intimate, but a great instrument for the best music! Cumpliments for the abridged version and performance !

  • @dibfranciss Thank you. The Reed Organ is an amazing invention and so overlooked as to possibilities. (Seems as if daily I make new discoveries.) For this work of Beethovens intended for the Piano, I "invented" my own way of trying to "blend tones." Probably with a couple more days practice I could have done better. But yes, an intimate instrument it is and a great one at that! I would have played the whole 1st movement but decided it would make for too long a video for the average person.

  • Very good song!

  • @LevisKipras Thanks! :-)

  • I'm always amazed at how well those reeds sound after so many years. You did a great job on the restoration and a wonderful interpretation here. Mike

  • @tentreb Hi Mike and thank you ever so much for the kind remarks. Tuning these reeds was a big challenge and it took me at least a full month. (They were in very bad shape and one 8' bass reed had actually left the factory "as-is" untuned!) Tuning was accomplished not with a Reed Scraper, but by inserting 3x5 card stock under every Reed Tongue and then using very fine sandpaper. Thanks again and glad you liked the interpretation! :-)

    Justin~
