This doesnt work! I tested the consumption with a hardware watt analyzer and its the same in off and online mode in IES. Use Cool.n.quiet in bios and cpu thermal and lower cpu, not quad but dual.
Ive got an ASUS 880GHX mobo using an AMD Phenom2 X4 3.4Ghz, 4 Gb Ram and running 64bit Windows 7, with a nice wee second hand MSI nvidia 260 GTX card.
I have had ZERO problems using the IES and the instant boot programs that come with the board, and no problems running games while these programs are active.
For the record, I have no interest in overclocking any components in my system, and as a result I never have any hardware problems.
I've been running this ASRock board for about 2 months and just realised this feature via a pamphlet I found in the box, so I launched it, click the big green button, BAM! BSOD!! Stop 0xFC "An attempt was made to execute to non-executable memory"
I have a AsRock motherboard 790GX pro, and I am very happy with this feature. I would recomend anyone to buy AsRock motherboards. Even big companies could save lots of money in electricity if they use IES supported mobos.
The 64bit version of this is better than the 32bit. In windows7 x64 you can just leave it on all the time, doesnt matter if you are playing games or whatever, it pumps the right amount of power to your pc at all times. Windows XP x32bit is another story however, as people have said, you need to turn it off when gaming, otherwise the games get jerky... and this can be annoying when you forget you have got it running and wonder why games are jerky in XP lol. Big thumbs up for Win7.
I used to have an onboard videocard on my Asrock A780GMH and used IES (Energy Saver) all the time. Since i got my HD5750, I noticed that using Energy Saver causes my computer to restart randomly so I turned it off. Particularly strange if you ask me, but I find it interesting. I don't think IES is perfect, but it does save energy...
I noticed that if y use IES and y have powerful computer it can use only 30% (or something) of all power -_- SO this is useless program! (i tried this to World in conflict - With IES max FPS 25 without IES max FPS 75)
i am happy that Asrock started this kind of illustrative videos and hope it will keep it going, whether you won in the competition or not , we all won the infos and the proofs that Asrock show us directly to eyes
IES is denfently a verry cool feature... Defently something to conceder when buying a new mobo.... some other manufactures dont offer a feture such as IES.... Im kinda in awe a Asrock but not fully sold... gong to do more resurch on them
IES is a necessary need with any modern mobo , and Asrock always think of first things first, and when it says intelligent it means the word toward the components and the user's benefit
IES it's the best implementation of energy saving, other producers use only two phases, not 1 phase like Asrock. So it's clear that Asrock IES it's the best choise to choose.
Informative video. I am an avid AsRock fan. I've been using AsRock mobos for 4 years now and they all worked great! Highly recommended! I'm excited to try the new models with IES technology. Thank you AsRock! You rock!
The best part of Asrock's Intelligent Energy Saving is that IES also works with overclocked processors (who consume a lot of power) without losing stability. This fact is new in the world of overclocking. Normally you had to disable all special energy saving options while overclocking, but now that problem is finally solved by Asrock's excellent IES Utility.
IES has nice interface ,with easy to use functions, and rich with features as well achieve effective electricity and energy saving ,which makes me happy and make the earth safe
thank u Asrock for keeping us informed and updated on the latest technology , those videos are a good means for communication with fans , and this IES feature is a need for all , and it comes on one of your boards so the joy can be doubled
Amazing feature ! Especially in this day and age where protecting our world is not just a great idea but probably one of the most important challenges we've had to face as a species. Way to go. Asrock rules !
Wow, very cool feature from Asrock. I was wondering what this IES is and what does it actually do, now I know after watching this video. The guys from Asrock really does a good job, I mean the prices on their products are very cheap compared to other competitors but not only their products are durable, but also feature rich. I hope they keep up the good work for the coming years and keep their prices very affordable. Asrock = performance + value.
A very interesting and good step coming from ASRock. Considering that energy consumption is one of the biggest problems on the latest computers, ASRock makes a big step in decreasing that.
IES is a need for developing country as well as developed ones ,who can deny that the saving of energy is not a world wide requirement ? specially with the changes we see
ASRock is doing what other manufacturers are doing in opposite. ASRock is adding features and making the move to more energy efficent, more green, and more standard features that others are cutting out. Real time, accurate voltage and total system energy usage is another first from ASRock and it's something i would definately like to have.
this IES is such an interesting feature! asrock did good engineering work in that solution design because that works, really saves energy (and our money), and it don't affect our performance or hardware health because when it's needed it automatically uses the other available power phases to the cpu (guaranteeing proper energy supply to the more hard tasks and games!). thats a pretty good solution allowing us to save money and keeping also great performance levels ;)
Today, saving energy is a MUST; not only is useful for save some money, mainly for saving our planet too. I'm glad ASrock included this intelligent feature, nice work.
I havent looked into MD's for some time now but with my aging gaming system, I am in process of putting together my "need to Buy" list. ASRock is on the top of my list because of the software such as this. Keep up the good work1
My next motherboard definitely will be an AsRock Model :) Yeah, i knew it from the beginning, that they make their job good. I have already an AsRock Model, but i plan to buy a new one, for a Nehalem CPU in 3 Months. The Model i already use is a "775DUAL-VSTA" for the socket 775. And i`m glad with it. It saves energy since i started it.
IES from Asrock is better implemented and more eficient than EPU and DES from competition. And also Asrock implemented IES even to cheap models, not something that competition did. Good for Asrock !
Since I use Motherboard bought ASROCK reason eh ... have generally been very durable, have an excellent performance and had never eh serious problems. Lately the Motherboards ASROCK have high quality and this means more performance. Congratulations
One of the reasons why I decided to buy one of its motherboards was not to contain toxic metals and because it saves energy. Thanks for the effort to improve their technologies.
It amazes me how advanced that tool is, seeing as ASRock usually has its genuine El Cheapo look on EVERYTHING it does, which is a good thing, because that's why everyone buys their stuff! ^^
I'm actually pretty surprised AsRock has software which dynamically controls the number of active power phases. Its also nice to see the boards hooked up to a real power meter to show the true test results. Pretty cool to see that real engineers are behind these videos, too. I hate it when sales people try to sell a product of pure engineering!
As much as i know IES works only with Phenom CPUs. IES is very important for a system like this. I wonder what would be difference with 3-way SLI game system. Video shows one VGA installed.
Found a link to ASRock's youtube channel off their site when I was downloading drivers for my board. It's neat to see results from their developments.
