Holy cow this is an amazing video. I wish all non-fiction videos were designed as such. I am in amazement at HOW MUCH information you squeezed into 7 minutes. I even had to pause in a few spots because it went so fast. Fantastic. Literally, the perfect video. Your ad at the end was even perfectly timed and place and the way you incorporated your product into the video was extremely tasteful AND flattering to your product. Just awesome.
Well this sucks. How do you implement scrum with one-developer projects? I'm the only guy taking the project to completion and in your model, the product owner will have to double as the scrum leader. Guess it's time to quit small web consultancies and go work at SaaS companies that treat their developers as a valuable asset and not costly overhead.
@ccricers As someone who also does single web development contracts I would advise you to focus less on the team practices of scrum and more on the principles. Most importantly communicate with your customers and deliver in short iterations so you can get quick feedback. Also on larger projects I find it useful prioritize a backlog with my customer and then use it to plan out my weekly workload.
@techexcel I actually want to get away from contract work and go back in full-time. And having dealt with projects where there's only one technical worker (me) and two project managers, I could see maintenance nightmares before I get into them.
As someone who knows nothing about Scrum or marketing in general, every other word in this video is marketing jargon. It almost sounds like it could have been written by a random marketing phrase generator. Scrum helps us grow collaborative e-markets, visualize plug-and-play web-readiness, facilitate e-business, facilitate business ROI, evolve turn-key channels, generate user-centric technologies, evolve viral bandwidth, and empower integrated users, etc. Sheesh. Try doing this without jargon.
@MysteryNebula01 Ah, wait, I just didn't watch it all because it's one of thos annoying videos that are totally unrealated to what you're watching. :P
Wow! How original guys. I wonder where you got the idea to do "Scrum in 7 Minutes"? I wish I had thought of that! After all, my video was 8 minutes long.
@hshojaee Your video was nice but unfortunately propagates several misconceptions which I will address in the following replies:
[hshojaee]: "Scrum Masters are Project Managers" - Not even close! The Scrum Master is a facilitator who ensures that the Scrum process is used as intended.
[hshojaee]: "The release backlog should be split into sprints in advance" - Again bad idea! Sprints should be planned sequentially so that feedback can influence future sprints.
@hshojaee You confuse sprint and release level burndowns. These are two different charts that serve two distinct purposes.
You confused story and task level estimates. They are different for a reason! These two types of estimates allow us to have micro and macro level metrics. Tasks impact the sprint burndown and stories impact the release burndown.
@hshojaee [hshojaee]: "The daily standup meeting is not a core or essential part of scrum" - This statement is laughably ridiculous! Did you ever stop to think about why the daily meetings are called SCRUMS?
Lastly 7 minutes is better than 8! Hahaha anyways hopefully this video can assist people in learning while not feeding them incorrect information.
it's like your whole speech is one sentence, no pauses or emphasis about certain important points, sorry i could barely follow what you were saying

Great overview of scrum! Packs a lot of information into 7 minutes though so I can understand why some people might get lost.
