  • i don't care if a person is black or white u can tell if they have indian root's ...look at their cheek bone's,face,eye's....u ppl need to understand their are alot of black's that have indian root's as much as white....i hate when a black person that is half indian allway's get's negative treatment...why are white ppl so fasinated with indian's ...it was white ppl who poisen and killed indian's and raped slaves

  • i am of the african decent as well. socially it seems like no one believes or takes us serious when we want to claim our indian blood..some natives think that everybody that wants to prove they are part indian want money and with me thats not the case i work for money i dont need any hand-outs..i just want to know more about myself as a human being and where my ancestors came from..if im not indian then so be it...thats what research is for, ANSWERS..so i understand where ur coming from

  • @layhayla

you seem nice but i don't think you (or anybody) should help these ppl to be "more ndn". if you have to research you "ndn ancestry" then you are not an ndn. being indian ain't no DNA marker. they take our land, they try to make our crafts, and now they want to take our identity! enough is enough...that is our problem as indian ppl...being nice to everybody. i don't think they all intend it but they need to be themselves. if they weren't raised ndn and can't talk then they are american

  • @MexicoNativeAmerican I have too much respect for Native Americans to wear things to "look" Indian. Because I've gotten so much (negative) publicity, it has moved me to see what I can find on Ancestry.com - if any of the "naysayers" are willing to pay up a 1 year membership for me cause they think I'm "making this s___ up please let me know. This piece has been uploaded for at least a year and I find it so odd how all of a sudden it's gotten so much attention.

  • Note: two years ago this was uploaded.

  • Yes they are a lot of people claiming to have Native blood but a lot of them have no proof so its kind of hard to believe them. Now Im not saying you dont (girl from video) you may be Indian. I just get upset when a lot of ppl that dont even look indian are wearing feathers and all this other things to "look" indian. See I dont have to wear anything to look indian. I have straight black hair, brown skin, brown eyes, and some of my family speak in dialect. So I have proof wheres urs.

  • @MexicoNativeAmerican get out of here you fake wanna be pretend indian, This girl is talking about CHEROKEE...Cherokee was NOT from Mexico..now move along wanna be.

  • @MexicoNativeAmerican What tribe you from??? Skin, eyes, cheek bones, etc is NOT PROOF

  • Beautiful! Don't let these idiots commenting get you down! I come from a family of 'passers'. My father told me about my Cherokee heritage when I was 12 yrs old. It's on my mother's side and she had died 2 yrs before, she was an only child,so I have no uncles or aunts from that side of my family. Now maybe he could have got it wrong, maybe the Native blood is Pawnee , or Blackfoot,etc.. but he told me it was Cherokee, so Cherokee I am!

Why does'nt anyone expect me to prove my Irish blood?

  • i can tell you have some indian blood......i am an american indian, coming from me to you. be porud of that and learn as much as you can. I am just starting to learn because of the assimilation i went through all my life. Indians are beautiful.

  • @layhayla You know there were probably more Native mix with "white" americans because I think they wanted to fit in with the so called "civilized" white americans who weren't really that civilized (lynching, stealing of land etc.) A lot of "black" americans have empathy with native peoples because of in some case their common struggle for equality and most Natives were warriors. There is a great deal of shame of having your oppressors blood in your genes.

  • If you look the part, you might have N.A. ancestory and might wanna do some research. But if I had blond hair and blue eyes, I wouldn't waste my time if I were you.

  • @king7654321 lol. Blonde hair really is a recessive trait and sometimes a form of albinoism (sic). I don't know why but this happens a lot in Nigeria where every once in a while a "high yellow" baby is born to a black Nigerian couple. Genetics are weird a person can be 66% "white" and 34% "black and still considered to be pure black in this country. I have a lot of Native blood but I claim "black",although I still respect my paternal and maternal native blood.

  • @king7654321 Actually one of the largest tribes in the USA..the Lumbee..have blue/grey eyes...also the first tribe the English met in America had blue/grey eyes...learn your history...also the oldest bones on the east coast are caucasoid bones....research the florida bog bones...research kenniwick man...the list goes on and on...research the lumbee..research the hatteras/croatoan..list goes on and on

  • Layhayla & Wolf...right on. It's unfortunate that there are still mixed bloods who haven't done enough research to learn more about family background. To be honest, it IS rather vexing when so many (white, African, or others) claim Cherokee extraction. I think it must be easier for them to claim this heritage because it is more well-known? The Cherokee with their different bands must continue to be patient with people who are in search of their roots and direct them elsewhere when necessary.

  • @Lochee1000 Why thank you :)

  • @Lochee1000 I am on my other account but I am layhayla :)) I am angry that these people are getting on this precious baby.. I have been trying to help her.She is my online friend the buttholes =)

  • Looks Siberian...

  • beautiful very nicely said =) Cherokee Pride!

  • @layhayla she looks cherokee to me

  • @layhayla You have my respect for the fact that you offered to help (while many others just bashed me for "pretending" to be Native. I posted this ages ago and recently there's all the activity. All the info I have is a name, location and my grandmother's estimated year of birth. I info is patchy, I'll admit. Send me a personal message and I'll relay the info to you, thanks.

  • @DoorsChick1967 I'm"black" and I always thought my great grandmother was a cherokee (she would never discuss her racial identity) but after digging thru records from other family members and cencus info, I found her family to be of Creek descent moved from Alabama to Texas (Pres. Andy Jackson). Now I look like a reg. "black" guy and this is only a small part of my American ID (I have Euro Jew, Spanish, and French blood as well). No one can really tell who is what by skin tone.

  • @layhayla Hey, not to be rude myself but why is it that when black people claim Cherokee heritage people look at them funny but if white people claim it people are more receptive? I mean I've been to enough powwows in my lifetime to know that Natives come in different looks.

  • @TheMidnightBell07 Part II I've seen some Asia-looking ones, Meixcan -looking ones, dark African looking ones and European blonde/ blue-eyed pale ones. I've watched people and listened to some responses and it's mainly towards the more African looking darker skin ones that get the looks and comments. I think it's wonderful that the people in here are so beautiful and helpful though. I'll help anyway I can as well.

  • My dad's mom(grandma) is actually the daughter of a Blendian, but she ended up marrying a man who is 3/4 Tsalagi(my grandad).

  • A lot of ppl claiming to actually do have Native blood b/c in East Tennessee, where I live, there were a group of people call "Blendians". They were mostly Tsalagi and some Yuchi. They moved from N.C. to the TN Valley just to survive. They claimed "white" on the census(without any proven heritage in Europe), they covered their skin when out in the field(most Blendians were farmers), and they almost always married into white and sometimes black families.

  • i do have white in me.. but i also have native american, and mexican..

  • haha my great great great grandmother was full cherokee. we dont have any pictures, but my moms side of the family has really pretty hair like that of cherokee ppl, and alot of my family is very very bright, and tall. i aslo know that my great grandmother was from oklahoma [we live in north texas though] so despite what ive heard i do actually believe that im part cherokee and i love that

  • @Setterrah8302

not to sound rude, but that's hard to believe considering that billions of people across the USA/Canada claim that their great great great grandmother/grandfather was Native American. trust me i've met hundreds of people telling me they're part native. and usually when an african american says they're part native, it turns out that the ancestor was a white slave owner. not a native american. that's why they had light skin and straight hair.

  • @TheNightWolfie well, some cases ''oh,yeah'' but many cases yes theyre indian, but i see that a slave wouldnt know of my native people unless, he o she interacted among my people in the past, which did happen , bc some of our women was enslave from british settlers and french wars, thats one facter why the east coast tribe have alot of registered black/indian people but many blacks have either both indian n white and many have more native o other..black community is a mix heritage community..wado

  • @TheNightWolfie Tell that to Jimi Hendrix, Cree Summer, jazz great Oscar Pettiford, Eartha Kitt (who was 1/4 black) Della Reese (1/2) and there are many more that have been registered. I'm black as hell but my great granny lived with my family growing up and she was definite native (I have pictures)...so what really. i still claim "black". Americans are mutts anyway.

  • @TheNightWolfie ummm.. you do know ALOTof blacks in America NEVER was a slave. Also you should know that Cherokee, Creek, Seminole, Choctaw, and many many other tribes owned slaves themself....

  • That was very moving....very. And as Janeczka says, very powerful, yet sad at the same time.

  • Lovely reading, very peaceful yet powerful. You've got an air of dignity about you that is very soothing.
