How old is MJ? I can tell you've spent alot of quality time with him, it's touching. I hope my new babie grows up to speak as well as MJ, if not i'll love it just the same. Thank u 4 taking the time to record and post these videos, there are VERY cute & inspiring. Not 2 mention set a GREAT example for all of us AG parents (and prospective) on proper care and the rewards of...... I'm goin to see my new babie for the 1st time on Sunday <3

You have a terrific bird in MJ. What do you do to get him started? My bird is Smokie, he is about 3.5 years old. He can say his name, but that's about it. What really makes them talk? Do you think leaving the UTube on would help?? Thanks for the videos... they are fun to watch...

Thank you, bonnfyre472. We all talk to him throughout the day & we also leave the TV on when we're not in the room, sometimes, too. He goes crazy (singing, talking, dancing) when he hears music. I think the more you talk to them, the more they talk back. But MJ's always been a chatterbox.

"You're gonna get popcorn" reminded me of the confusion and gnashing of beaks that ensued when I'd offer them popcorn - my 'too is named Popcorn. That "oooo". If I had taped my grey saying that, you couldn't distinguish it from MJ's. I wonder if it's a natural call.

Has he learned to construct his own sentences? Did he piece together "I wanna carrot" himself from other words you taught him?

My mom taught him to say, "I wanna carrot," but he does make up his own sentences & even his own words for things. Some are quite amusing. ;D

please post some more MJ videos! i have been watching them since before i got my grey, Brian. Brian is now almost 8 months old and just finding his voice. he says "oooooo" like MJ, i thought it was so cute i had to teach him it.

I love his "wanna carrot?" sequence, so clever. he's one of the best talking greys on youtube, lets see some more video's please =)

Does he really like carrots? He seems to repeat that alot. My mom's gray LOVES cheese, but it's the one word he won't/can't say. But if you say the word, he gets all flustered and does the excited dance if he knows you're bringing it.

I can't believe how well he speaks without making all the extra 'noises' grays seemed to pick up on. I've mostly seen them say a phrase, then lapse into whistling or clicking before saying another one. Nicely trained!.

Thank you. I know what you mean about them not being able to say some words & getting frustrated about it. My grandma's 1st grey could say all our names except "Anthony." He'd say, "Antha, Antha..." and then get mad & make a gibberish noise, lol.

Holy crap! Thats awesome how old is he or she? I think my Grey is a year old but had a previous owner and all he does is make lazer sounds and whistles? I cant get him to talk any suggestions? Haha i love your bird very smart and know what a carrot is!

Hehe, laser sounds, hehe. The more your bird is talked to, the more likely it is it will talk. It's even better if more than one person talks to it during the day. I've heard that some never talk, but I find that kinda hard to believe, with chatterbox here, lol. ;)

Yes, spend as much time with him as you can. And have other people do, too.  I can't spend as much time with MJ as I want to, but I always say hi to him when I walk by his cage, and often give him some tickles or a kiss, hehe.
