Cupid murdered and shot Cock Robin and he is being charge with a crime for using bow and arrow. And he is under arrest and he sentence to death by hanging.
@WaltDisneyKanal Sie/Du sollten/est nicht das Ende, also sozusagen die Wendung der Geshichte, in die Videobeschreibung schreiben, das nimmt die Spannung raus ;)!
police brutality, a jessica rabbit tweety bird, a cheerful song for children about hanging birds to death, and a homosexual cupid bird....Doesn't get any better than that
You do all realize that these weren't originally mainly intended for children, right?
These were played before popular (adult/teenage) movies, and usually 'made fun of' popular personalities of the day. Hence the robin bird crooning like Bing Crosby, the Mae West bird he's singing to, etc. Audiences thought it funny to see little characters based on people they knew of. It wasn't until Television that that these cartoons were re-played with full intention towards children.
when you could shoot someone, hit birds in the head, sing a song about how wonderful it is to hang birds, have a gay bird , and doing...something.....behind an umbrella and get away with it...
if just ONE og theese things where in a childrens show today, it would be banned even before the coloring was done....
@parasaurolophus17 Well that's because, quite frankly, these toons were made for just kids back then. They were made for people in general. And a lot of the early Disney and Warner Bros., etc. cartoons in the 20s/30s/40s era (IE before McCarthyism took hold), had a lot of more mature themes. Disney has this misconception in the public eye of being a "Family Friendly" company, but the thing is, that didn't really start until long after Walt Disney himself was dead.
@poopmaster13 Some of these early toons did do about as much as they could get away with back then. If not Disney, then Warner Brothers (Bugs Bunny ect) Popeye, Betty Boop. Disney showed female breasts in Fantasia(Night on Bald Mountain) Seems animation has a history of being the "angel" who treaded where live action "fools" feared to rush.
They also let some random woman walk into the court room because she thought they weren't getting anything done (they weren't), and she handled evidence without gloves or permission. This woman (who, by the way, was the only actual witness and was never even talked to) then sentenced all the innocent until proven guilty suspects to death just because she didn't like where stuff was going. And then they let the confessed killer walk away. WTF?

What the hell kind of police force is this? They roughly handle a body without looking for forensic evidence or anything, rough up and arrest some random people who were chosen as suspects because of what appears to be racial profiling, they give an unfair trial in which there is a half-wit judge who doesn't know what he's doing and a jury that all thinks the same, and they beat suspects at the drop of a hat without cause because they're just not hearing what they want. And I ran out of text.
I'm sorry but doesn't anyone find it odd that the black bird (suppose to be a black man) gets knocked around the most (Ala Rodney King)? This was a pretty risque Disney cartoon:)
@sdmitch16 You can't tell that black bird was suppose to be a black man? I mean that bird had black sterotype written all over him, especially in his dialect.
You would think we're less restrictive with our cartoons nowadays but we're so sensitive to violence and so on. Watching old cartoons, I always marvel at what they got away with back then.
This cartoon won second place for an Oscar in 1935 for Animated Short. I personally think it is better than the winner aslo by Disney, Three Little Kittens.
Back then (in 1935), interrogation and courtroom 'drama' still has a few bugs in it. It's always 'knock' first (as well as in the middle of talking) and questions later. Oh, brother!
Ive been trying to remember his for years and finally FINALLY T.T Im not even old but on tv theyd show disney time and I have it recorded on video but I lost the video T.T
Disney animator Ham Luske animated most of the scenes with Jenny Wren.
Luske also animated other Silly Symphony characters including Max Hare in the Academy Award-winning "Tortoise and the Hare" and the titled character in "Elmer Elephant."
Wow: Police brutality in a 1935 cartoon...
