  • Wow: Police brutality in a 1935 cartoon...

  • Which begs the question, how could one hang a bird? They would fly!

  • Cock Robin is dead. Cupid murdered him.

  • Cupid murdered and shot Cock Robin and he is being charge with a crime for using bow and arrow. And he is under arrest and he sentence to death by hanging.

  • My mother sang this to me 60 years ago.

  • whys the owl wearing a graduation gown & cap when he's supposed to be a judge?

  • @WaltDisneyKanal Sie/Du sollten/est nicht das Ende, also sozusagen die Wendung der Geshichte, in die Videobeschreibung schreiben, das nimmt die Spannung raus ;)!

  • thumbs up if CSI vegas brought you here

  • @bwogisean CSI Vegas sure did bring me here and I enjoyed the tune and the 'toon! Ha!

  • now i know the reason for police brutalaty today ^^ cartoons must be banned xD

  • "don't be stupid. i'm dan cupid."

    =)

  • did he say im dam cupid

  • @MrWifiman100 dan cupid

  • did hey im dam cupid?

  • Look there's the first gay bird in history! Oh no it's gonna lay a crap load of it's gayness!!!!!! =O Run for your lives

  • so cupid was gay.

  • Joe Grant had a great deal with working on this. The cartoons got slightly better when he came to the studio.

  • Jeez..... and they say kids TV today is violent.

that bird is getting his head cracked open with bats.

  • Um was that gay bird suppose to be there

  • police brutality, a jessica rabbit tweety bird, a cheerful song for children about hanging birds to death, and a homosexual cupid bird....Doesn't get any better than that

  • @anniest2010

You do all realize that these weren't originally mainly intended for children, right?

These were played before popular (adult/teenage) movies, and usually 'made fun of' popular personalities of the day. Hence the robin bird crooning like Bing Crosby, the Mae West bird he's singing to, etc. Audiences thought it funny to see little characters based on people they knew of. It wasn't until Television that that these cartoons were re-played with full intention towards children.

  • @SirRiehl can we call this as satire too?

  • i like in spanish please

  • dankedas habe ich die ganze zeit geseucht :D

  • awesomeface juries !

  • I HAVE NEVER SEEN A LADY BIRD HAVE THAT DEEP OF A VOICE BUT STILL BE HELLA DEVINE

  • tks i thought i would never find this , its like i see my 2 girls when they were so little and used to watch this cartoon singing along

  • Popeye & Mae West soundalikes

  • Why is the white bird dumb?

  • Angry Birds

  • baboo baboo baoo X(

  • police brutality!

  • @christismybitch my thoughts exactly

  • witness: "i don't know"

    cops: BANG BANG BANG

    lol

  • they don't have animation like this any more

    :(

  • I can't believe they cut the "cupid" scene from the Walt Disney's Treasures DVD set.

  • Sight.....

    the good old days...

when you could shoot someone, hit birds in the head, sing a song about how wonderful it is to hang birds, have a gay bird , and doing...something.....behind an umbrella and get away with it...

if just ONE og theese things where in a childrens show today, it would be banned even before the coloring was done....

  • @parasaurolophus17 Well that's because, quite frankly, these toons were made for just kids back then. They were made for people in general. And a lot of the early Disney and Warner Bros., etc. cartoons in the 20s/30s/40s era (IE before McCarthyism took hold), had a lot of more mature themes. Disney has this misconception in the public eye of being a "Family Friendly" company, but the thing is, that didn't really start until long after Walt Disney himself was dead.

  • @poopmaster13 Some of these early toons did do about as much as they could get away with back then. If not Disney, then Warner Brothers (Bugs Bunny ect) Popeye, Betty Boop. Disney showed female breasts in Fantasia(Night on Bald Mountain) Seems animation has a history of being the "angel" who treaded where live action "fools" feared to rush.

  • Wow everyones hippies just a cartoon so Stfu :D

  • They also let some random woman walk into the court room because she thought they weren't getting anything done (they weren't), and she handled evidence without gloves or permission. This woman (who, by the way, was the only actual witness and was never even talked to) then sentenced all the innocent until proven guilty suspects to death just because she didn't like where stuff was going. And then they let the confessed killer walk away. WTF?

  • What the hell kind of police force is this? They roughly handle a body without looking for forensic evidence or anything, rough up and arrest some random people who were chosen as suspects because of what appears to be racial profiling, they give an unfair trial in which there is a half-wit judge who doesn't know what he's doing and a jury that all thinks the same, and they beat suspects at the drop of a hat without cause because they're just not hearing what they want. And I ran out of text.

  • @megakid39

Look! The Cops are black, too ! Black Birds hit black birds. Where is the racism? So, shut the fuck up!

  • I'm sorry but doesn't anyone find it odd that the black bird (suppose to be a black man) gets knocked around the most (Ala Rodney King)? This was a pretty risque Disney cartoon:)

  • @Hyman74Roth How can you tell what type of bird they are?

  • @sdmitch16 You can't tell that black bird was suppose to be a black man? I mean that bird had black sterotype written all over him, especially in his dialect.

  • how did they get the cloth over all of the robin, but the arrow

  • 8:13 WTF?

  • this cartoon has NOT aged well. though thats not necessarily a bad thing.

  • Those were the days, when puns were still funny. And "the old crow bar" is just background too.

  • You would think we're less restrictive with our cartoons nowadays but we're so sensitive to violence and so on. Watching old cartoons, I always marvel at what they got away with back then.

  • They is like Who Framed Roger Rabbit?.

  • I don't even want to know what Cock Robin was doing to Jenny Wren at the end. Disney cartoons can be so weird. O_O

  • this is one of the best cartoons that i have seen how can it has so less views

  • "we're gonna hang 'em all"

  • This cartoon won second place for an Oscar in 1935 for Animated Short. I personally think it is better than the winner aslo by Disney, Three Little Kittens.

  • OMG ACAB!

    STOP COP VIOLENCE!:D

  • @hotbreeze2 "Cock Robin fell for Jenny Wren and landed on his head."

  • 8:11 Jenny: Ohhh...

    Cock robin must drinking something...

    Jenny's Umbrella = CENSORED

  • Back then (in 1935), interrogation and courtroom 'drama' still has a few bugs in it. It's always 'knock' first (as well as in the middle of talking) and questions later. Oh, brother!

  • this is the most brutal Disney made for tv cartoon ever

  • @kaintar It wasn't made for TV, it was made to appear in Alfred Hitchcock's "Sabotage".

  • it's good too in Spanish audio version

  • ahaha i love this cartoon especially the jury xD

  • I like this Mae West´s impersonation!

  • Cool, I'm glad I found this, I first heard about this cartoon when it appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's "Sabotage" from 1935.

  • Ive been trying to remember his for years and finally FINALLY T.T Im not even old but on tv theyd show disney time and I have it recorded on video but I lost the video T.T

  • wow im 14 and i think its cool .D

  • Disney animator Ham Luske animated most of the scenes with Jenny Wren.

Luske also animated other Silly Symphony characters including Max Hare in the Academy Award-winning "Tortoise and the Hare" and the titled character in "Elmer Elephant."

  • Thanks for putting this up! It's always been my favorite :0)

  • I have never seen such a gay Cupid and I see a lot

  • this is my favourite cartoon from the silly symphonies! i love it so much!soooo cute^^

but i watched it in german as a child...

no german version on youtube - what a pity! XD
