In addition Gato Class Submarines destroyed 1/3 of Japans aricraft carriers, battleships, destroyers and escorts. Gato Class submarines completely destroyed Japans Merchant Fleet which made it impossible for the Jap to have enough fuel to conduct military campaigns. German Uboat was oudated and all of them were destroyed, diving quickly did not help.

U Krauts lost all your fleet and their dead wrong and Donitz could care less how man U-boat sailors died. The goal of any navy was to survive, German subs were so easily detected and destroyed. @LottoWinner999 Trying to compare the US and German navies during ww2 isn't exactly fair. Germany had a very limited fleet at the start of the war, it was more of a 2nd rate force. UK, US, and Japan were first rate navies with many ships, bases, supplies, and men. Germany did not need a strong navy it needed panzers. 1939-41 German subs were extremely proficient but they ceased to produce and fell behind in 42 while US started better sub designs around 42-43. Any student of history, that is the true history of WW2, would have to agree that Hitler was a far greater statesman than either Churchill or FDR. He put his country first. Remove the propaganda from the equation and you'll see that Germany fought for Germany rather than the plutacracy that foisted the war on America and Great Britian. I did two tours + the 2ND one volunteered. Assholes like think U know every thing and in those four years I flew more miles and have flown in more planes + helicopters than U can imagine.
