@JudasRomana, it will be promoted an advertised just like any other globally released film. Official trailers and all. What you see now is all preliminary mockup stuff. Thanks for asking.
It says: "In a time of many religions." That would be correct for period we're dealing with and it is also not limited to Egypt. We're talking about the entire Near East at that time (many religions, many gods). But, even Egypt had different "cults" with different official "religious" ideologies within the empire... and yes, this is actually going to be a movie. One that will be cool to see, indeed. ^_-
What the historical record tells us is that Akhenaten was the first to introduce "one god" and one official religious doctrine in antiquity. We see that not long after his death, how the concept of "one god" has made a profound impact on not only the Near East but, the entire world...
umm... NO Zarasha, they should use an EGYPTIAN woman. It is equally stupid to use a sub-saharan African to play Nefertiti as it is to have a white woman. EQUALLY STUPID.
"The purpose of the suit is to harass and discourage rather than to win. The law can be used very easily to harass, and enough harassment on somebody who is simply on the thin edge anyway, well knowing that he is not authorized, will generally be sufficient to cause his professional decease. If possible, of course, ruin him utterly." - L. Ron Hubbard, A MANUAL ON THE DISSEMINATION OF MATERIAL, 1955
Would you want the Church of Scientology using your hard earned money to harass critics?
They should of used a ethiopian women to play the part of nefertitti or even somali. If you want to know what the egyptians looked like stare into their faces. Egypt,somalia, and ethiopia are related.
Who are you refering to? Who is "they?" First of all, it seems that you need to look at some faces yourself... Nefertiti Did not look Ethiopian or Somali. Best guess would probably be Mittani (or somewhere near there in Western Asia) based on the bust of her that survived.
I agree with this historical evidence also, HakatRe- and that perhaps Nefertiti was a sister to another Mittanian princess named Mutnedjmet, who later also became a Queen when her husband Horemheb ascended the thrown and became Pharoah after the death of Aye.
I wonder if there are any Armana freaks out there who can help me with a little information. Before any of the existing cartouches of Smenkhkare,do we see "sa ra" or "nsw bty". The answer to this, if there is one could tell us much but no publication seems to mention it. Egyptologists out there will know what I mean
That's a really good question. Because it appears that what little references do exist of this enigmatic character's funerary equipment and monuments, were appropriated. Even having interested historians and egyptologists guessing as to whether this was actually Nefertit impersonating a pharoah ala` Hapshepsut.
And i guess i am an "Amarna freak" but my interest with this period of history has always come to me from an intuitive level. if "sa ra" is discovered Smenkhkare was a male...
No... Amenhotep is correct. The word Amun is a diversion some historians use (for obvious reasons). Most Egyptologists use the word interchangeably (i.e. Tutankhamun, Tutankhamen but, most official references state this Egyptian god's name as AMEN, the same name by which we conclude the end of our prayers... Can I get an AMEN to that? (;D)
As far as I know, this is a bona fide epic film, supposedly to be released worldwide... still in its pre-production stages. Be patient though, it WILL be worth the wait!
how will i be able to watch this when it comes out?

Thou appearest beautifully on the horizon of heaven,
Thou living Aton, the beginning of life!
When thou art risen on the eastern horizon,
Thou hast filled every land with thy beauty.
Thou art gracious, great, glistening, and high over every land;
Thy rays encompass the lands to the limit of all that thou hast made:
As thou art Re, thou reachest to the end of them;
(Thou) subduest them (for) thy beloved son.
Though thou art far away, thy rays are on earth;

It's just a preliminary "teaser" if you will, not even a real teaser. The real thing and the movie itself will be well worth the wait.

I have read the book about Akhenaten and Nefertiti. What was Akhenatens name b4 he changed it agen?
goanna92 3 years ago
Akhenaten's birth name was "Amenhotep" as in Amenhotep IV, (son of Amenhotep III). That name means "Amen is pleased."
His throne name: Nefer-kheperu-Re means "Beautiful are the manifestations of Re."

wasn't it Amunhotep? for Amun?

I cannot share much info on the film but you can expect it to be based on some life events of the pharaoh, Akhenaten.
