Well, technically, as an music producer, you CAN speed up a peace AND keep the original timbre and pitch, depending on what you use. However, I have firm faith that this man is the real deal. It's not impossible to play the violin as fast as him or faster. Those who say that he's faking are just jealous because the lack the talent or patience to practice.

Definitely real, you are just basically moving the bow with only the wrist and at the balance point of you bow. You are not moving you fingers fast at all either! but it is definitely real!

If it was sped up the sound would be higher pitch, HOWEVER there are free audio programs like Audacity that allow you to change the pitch to be lower.
So what you could do is speed it up-->take it into something like Audacity --> lower the pitch. Just a little info to the retards saying "IT'S REAL BECAUSE OF PITCH BE SAME!"

umm...the hand you see in the video only needs to be moved to change the pitch of the sound not the frequency at which the sound is being played. Thats what the other hand does. You can tap the stick, as Dog is referring it to, to make a really quick sound, or run the strings across the strings of the instrument for a longer sound. Ben chan was making many sounds at the same pitch. I hope this explains a bit.

what if the metronome's ticks were actually really slow and were on a different sound track and therefore different speed to the video and the violin, so the violin and vid could be sped up with the metronome being at good speed?
@kw0060 You need to be competent on violin to recognize if it's fake or not. Had it been speed up, it would have sounded much cleaner than what Ben Chan played. His messy playing is consistent with what was produced at that speed.

Have you guys watched my Bach practice video for the YouTube Symphony audition? If that doesn't convince you that this one is real... then I guess I give up :) Seriously though, every time someone calls this fake, it makes me laugh :P

I'm a professional videographer... this is not edited at all. I spend 5-6 hours a day behind a computer editing videos. I can spot em. This is not fake or edited at all. Congratulations Ben-sama. You are a great violinist.

what if the metronome's ticks were actually really slow and were on a different sound track and therefore different speed to the video and the violin, so the violin and vid could be sped up with the metronome being at good speed?

@kw0060 You need to be competent on violin to recognize if it's fake or not. Had it been speed up, it would have sounded much cleaner than what Ben Chan played. His messy playing is consistent with what was produced at that speed.

well.. he can play violin at much higher scales than a majority of us can, which would make us all inferior to him in some form of classical arts:P

@156769 its not edited at all. he made this video to prove it wasnt..if he sped it up the metronome would have sped up too, which it didn't. so its 100% real :)
