  • awsome live 20 min south of Nashville nothing better

  • I first heard this when I was too young to mention w/out causing ACLU issues, but it has alway's been in my memory of many "Country and Western" songs. rbncrts is right but I might throw in Charlie Pride for the ANGELS. There weren't bars then ther were beer joints. Floyd Cramer then Conway enhanced it with vocals. of my few yrs that era was the best!! God bless em'!

  • SURE MISS CONWAY!

  • @62diane You are very welcome. I see someone did the research, great job. I have heard a couple of others ones to, just can't remember who did them. I know the Statler Brothers did it but don't know if they put it on a record.

  • my dad always loved this music that Floyd Cramer has "last date" but i never knew it had words so glad docsavage98 responded to me Thanks!!

  • @62diane There are about 8 different songs with words to it for this one. Statler Brothers has one to.

  • Give me that ol' school country music anytime, everytime. Great Floyd Cramer song. I especially like the Bakersfield sound of Merle, Buck, Wynn Stewart, etc.

  • its conway enough said! just listen ! rascall flatts or nobody else singin today has what this man brought to the table. God love conway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Conway was such a good singer. Even on a song like this that's been covered by who knows how many singers, Conway puts his own indelible sound on it.

  • New Country isn't Country, Case and Point, Case Closed. New Cars Aren't real cars, Case and Point. Our New President, isn't a President, Everything New Sucks, Case and Point, Case Closed!~!!!@@@!!~!~!

  • @RatBastardCulhane Caseand Point you are %100 right id like to take the time to tell you why but there is not enough time but look at the world we are living in enough said its so messed up or should i say -----up by a bunch of godless people rbncrts

  • These lyrics were written for this song by Floyd Cramer, Davis wrote different lyrics. Davis's lyrics flow a lot better then the original. However Debbie Harry does the best version.......

  • Good vocal version of the Floyd Cramer instrumental.

  • Thanks for this. Best version I ever heard. Man, only 60 years old? We were all cheated !! Long Live Conway.

  • Great

  • Conway was & still is simply " The Best "

  • my dad swears that he wrote these lyrics down, and sent it in and they said they wouldn't use it,and then he heard this.

  • that sucks i would be pissed

  • I was 5 yrs old.....this is the first song I ever knew all the words to. My uncle wrote down the words for me and I sang my heart out to this 8 track. Love you Conway...always and forever.

  • oh my the back seat of a 57 chevy....what sweet memories

  • i know knew of floyd cramers piano solo..didnt know this ever had words but conway does it beauitfully

  • @bluez1981 Cramer wrote the song with no words - it is a piano solo. Twitty took the paino solo and added his words about 15 years later.

  • @bluez1981 check out skeeter davis' version. Different words from the woman's point of view.

  • Best Steel Guitar intro of all Time!

  • @jubinizzle Twitty tells the story, and the guitar translates it.

  • @diggycman

    Great way of putting it!

  • @jubinizzle I didnt even know what a steel guitar was till you just said it!

  • Yes sir pretty good.

  • Not many singers can move you like Conway does!

  • What a croaner. Now this is country at it's best and soooo good looking too. Wish he were still here with us.

  • awsome version I didnt relize that there were lyrics i thought it was just instrumental

  • @msmoonbeam91: Actually, Conway wasn't the first to sing lyrics to this. Skeeter Davis did it years before.

  • Conway Twitty never sang a bad song..

  • Conway heard this song by Floyd Cramer and wrote lyrics for it. Awesome job for both.

  • @george8404 Oh, okay that explains why I couldn't find one with Floyd Kramer who does the instrumental so beautifully that has lyrics Thanks for posting this info. Only a few other artists that do with completely different lyrics that I don't care for. So guess I'll make up my own lyrics too.

  • One of favorite songs. Conway was my hero and forever will be.

If you get a chance sometime, please listen to my channel. I sang some conway on there, enjoy.

    keep up the good work

  • Godbless Someone with exceptional taste sir. What a wonderful world this is with the music we have been given. Sentimental me. All The Best. Tony Cash.

  • this dude was on family guy...

  • @BlueSTEEL0789 lol...Yes he was...More than once.

  • LoneStar, heck NO! They were just Rebells (rebellious kids) that grew up in country music, but didn't like the country sound. So they made their own music and sang it at country shows and called it country music. Music like this IS country music, PURE COUNTRY. The ones you mentioned is a smidgen of country, with more rock = country rock.

  • Used to punch up ole Conway on the Waffle House jukebox ... loved to see the waitresses swoon

  • As my Mom would say, "This is what country music is supposed to sound like." That great steel guitar is heart-rending and thank you so much for the upload. RIP Mom and Conway.

  • I think those of you who didn`t realize there where words to this song is because the instrumental part is on all the infomercials. Know what I mean??

  • I didnt know there WERE words to this song.

  • lots of people are blind to the real country music but im not to blind to see ...... all the best to them but i still believe in the best of country music and true legends where they started ...... conway was one ...:)

  • wait, so you don't think rascal flatts and all those other gay country bands whose members wear metrosexual clothes and have the tips of their hair frosted aren't real country?

  • to each his own ... so you tryin to say that you are gay lol

  • sorry gramps, you didn't get the joke. Maybe if I through a Metamucil reference you'd understand.

  • @LoneStarPatriot i agree they suck ass. Posers.

  • @LoneStarPatriot well.... yes

  • @LoneStarPatriot That pretty much sums up what I think about them.

  • @LoneStarPatriot

No I dont think any of them really know what country music really.. just like Taylor Swift I cant stand her music in 20 years no one will even know who they are. Music like this stands the test of time.

  • Comment removed

  • @LoneStarPatriot: Have you been trapped in bomb shelter for like 10 years... Because that is about how long it's been since someone has used "metrosexual"

  • @LoneStarPatriot no they are not real country they are shitty pop country!!

  • @LoneStarPatriot In a single word: No.

  • @LoneStarPatriot Youre so damn right thank you for posting such a true statement, a real damn shame men want to look like girl want a bes where are all the really good men like conway instead of all thease f------ fags who try to be and dress like women you know what the bible states about thease freaks rbncrts

  • @rbncrts I would like to take the time and clarify my statement about the metrosexual comment, no they cannot sing even even 1% as good as conway and elvis sing rbncrts

  • @rbncrts i agree with your comments E LVIS and CONWAY were gods gift to us,and lets not forget ROY ORBISON WHAT A TRIO THEY MUST BE IN HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!

  • @bill6443 Thank you for jogging my memory Roy O. is another great and I have his CDS but I spend more time listening to conway and elvis I would have responded quicker but I have been working a lot lately and when I logged back on to you tube I must have Pis**d somebody off because my email had been hacked and I have created a new one I will choose my words carefully nowpeace man by the way im all female rbncrts1

  • @bill6443 All the drugs that Elvis was doing, I doubt he went to Heaven. Gospel songs aren't all it takes to get there, you know.

  • @keepinitwolf88 LOL Yeah, but being drug free isn't all it takes to get there either. To say that he's not in heaven because of drugs is a really legalistic and judgemental point of view. Do you think that anybody really DESERVES to go to heaven? Sorry, but that's not how it works. It's by the grace of God and that alone.

  • @bill6443

    roy orbison kicks ass!

  • @bill6443 WELL SAID!!! Amen!

  • @rbncrts Amen brother. Those queers SUCK--figuratively and literally.

  • @LoneStarPatriot There's nothing GAY about one guy f*cking another guy in the ass or s*cking the other guys dick, so stick that MISNOMER where it belongs--up your homosexual-favoring ass.

  • @LoneStarPatriot Thank god for youtube, you can't get real country music on the radio these days.

  • This was a bonafied hit for Conway.

  • ANOTHER GREAT SONG BY CONWAY

rest in peace our dear conway twitty love always your fan - barbara .

  • that low graw sounding break in his voice is wonderful ...sounds like pain...singers back then were so true to their art..conway,waylon.george jones..merle haggard..young hank jr. those were timeless country masterpieces.. today's acts will never ever capture that.. dunno why but they won't

  • WOW! I love Conway but I've never heard this! Love the haunting steel guitar from 0:00 to 0:48 and throughout the song! Thank you for posting this one!

  • this man got sexier the older he got. so sad he left us so soon.
