I have a problem of it not wanting to go forward. I started out in the beginner mode, hovering to get the trim correct, once I did I push forward on the control stick and it doesn't go forward. The trim is all the way forward, control stick all the way forward and it wont go forward. I don't know if I'm flying it wrong, or if something is wrong. Any help or insight would be much appreciated.
Just got mine on Friday night and tested it before I watched your vid and was worried something was wrong with it but after watching this I was able to get it up in the air and started to hover right away. I have a CX3 and can fly it very well. I bought this heli as a "next step" and am very pleased. Your video was very helpful with some questions I was having. Great job and many thanks.
I have the same question. Setting up the Dx6i.....the guy at the hobby shop suggested it be set up in Acro or airplane mode since it's not a 'real heli'...can you elaborate?
how in the hell is yours stable! mine is all over the place... please reply with a solution. i am using the stock transmitter on Low. please help me out.
Does it naturally hover angled to the right slightly? I bought one a couple of weeks ago and though it hovers fine, it is leaning slightly to the right. When pushing forward on the elevator the heli flies forward, but also, annoyingly, slightly to the right. The aileron response is also a lot quicker moving right than left for obvious reasons, if it's already tilted in that direction slightly.
@dilithium72 Yep it will lean to the right because of the translating tendency of the tail rotor. Even real helicopters do this to some extend, which is why they touch down on one skid/wheel first.
@CrazyHeliDude LOL..I can see your a experienced R/C heli pilot, but you still like to fly your CX heli still? If so thats must help keep your skills sharp if you havent flown for weeks..If you just want to fly in your living room!!!
My forward/backwards direction (on blade 120 SR) do not work (will not go forward or backwards) but turning/side to side works well. Anything I can do to fix this?
On the msr I hate the 45 degree fly bar for the pendulum effect. It would be fine if I let go of controll and it just stopped, but instead it stops and goes backwards.. Does the 120 SR do the same thing?
@quickguesswho - Yes it does. It's the aggressive nature of this flybar stabilizing system. There are trade offs. Ultra stability but you get the pendulum effect. Still this heli is very good as a trainer or for those who are beginners, to teach basic heli orientation. I use mine mainly as an indoor flyer.
How is yours so stable? I just got mine and it goes careening off to the side as soon as it gets enough lift to leave the ground. I eventually crashed it and knocked off the tail rotor bearing thingy. I am using the DX5e. Please help.
Great video. Im a total beginner brand new to RC Helicopters but I prefer the high rate mode right out of the box along with the the high rate swash linkage adjustment. I tried the low settings but found it way too sluggish and difficult to keep centred when hovering. Im glad to see the c of g on yours is off to the starboard a bit too so I know there is nothing wrong with mine.
The "glue" to use is "Goop". It holds real well but can be removed when you need to disassemble parts for repairs. I replace my tail section and just put a dab of it over the section between the tail shaft and frame
@CrazyHeliDude Thanks. I went ahead and got a 120 sr. On one of the crashes the tail rotor motor mount broke. I super glued it but I expect it to break again someday. I ordered a extra tail set up (along w/ extra blades, skids) just in case. I have had it for a few days and I love it. I'm starting to crash less and learning how to hover.
And maybe the heli isn't bound to the transmitter. Look up vids on how to bind the heli to the transmitter. It involves holding down the left stick (clicking it vertically into the transmitter, like to crouch in Halo) and then turning on the transmitter with the stick held down. I believe the heli should be turned on before the transmitter to bind (if that doesnt work, try turning the transmitter on before the heli).
Not really, sorry. I just got the heli this week. But if it's actually broken/snapped in one place and glue or tape won't fix it, you'll probably have to buy a new tail boom with motor for about $15. If you live in the Vancouver area, Norburn sells the heli and parts. (They're both a brick and mortar store and an online store) or Racing Devil. Otherwise look at your local hobby stores or ebay.
i'm a total beginner and i never flown an helicopter of my life can you help me because i have some difficulties to control it and i don't know how to adjust the trims
Im a total green beginner too, only had it a week, crashed a couple times but now I can do what my skill allows until the battery dies, really easy to keep in a 1m x 1m x 1m box. Wish I'd heard his advice first though cos I wouldn't have taken it outside, it blows around like a rag on the tiniest gust and you can't hold it. Only tip I can give you as a newbie is when you think you are gonna crash into something cut the throttle and let it drop, does way less damage that way
I really like your videos and they helped me after my 120SR purchase.
I just got a 120SR 2 days ago and at the start I was guite fustrated because I could not get it trimmed, so I called up their support and he was guite helpful.
I can now, only after 2 days, fly it indoors(pointing in one direction only) for a full run on the batteries. It also "rocks" back and forth and if you are good you can fly that motion out.Yes you can do hands OFF for about 1 second. It will drift one way or another.
Hey I watched all your videos on this heli and I got to say it really helped me out before purchasing it. I want to say thanks because this helped a lot on my research on the product before buying it. I just had my first flight tonight in the cool weather no breeze of course it flew great. You are right though it will get away from you fast if you're not paying attention. Overall I like it. Thanks once again.
Hay crazyhelidude I have read in some forums how the msr can fly in 5-10 mph wind. Not mine anything over 2mph I’m done. and the 120sr I have a great deal of trouble flying in winds over 2mph.the swash plate on each is set to advanced and my dx6i gear switch is set on 1.i have tried heli and airplane mode, they do fly better in airplane mode but still not well if the wind is over 2mph.is it just me or what
ya gotta watch it with these, recently their have been a lot of manufacturer defects especially with the right servo motor and gears. I just bought one the other day and that was my problem, lucky for me my local hobby shop replaced the defective copter , i would watch it with any eflight r/c copters, i have the cp pro 2 and that is a bitch to fly as well. I been told by the experts their are a lot of problems with these machines.
Just got my 120 SR. My first "bigger" heli, survived some novice crashes, super fun.
Is it normal for it to "list" to the right. Sorry I don't know the correct term. I get stable hover but it looks like the heli is leaning right. Looks like yours is doing that a little too. Thanks!
@borgy44 - It's because of the tail rotor. Since the tail rotor is slightly below the main rotor and "blowing" to the right thereby thrusting the tail and heli body to the left, the heli has a tendency to "lean" slightly to the right. You'll see this happen on real helicopters as well. One skid/wheel always takes off/touches down first because of this.
@starcraftluver62 - The 120 it literally a bigger version of the mSR. The 120 handles a little different cuz it's bigger. Other than that, not much. the 120 will generally do better outdoors since it's bigger.
Hi, I just picked up a 120 SR, and just like in this video I noticed that it had a tendency to lean to the right, I tried everything I can to get more balance with no luck, is this to be expected?

Great vid, thank you! I am thinking of getting the 120SR. Shoudl I get the BNF version and get a dx7 or shoudl I go with the RTF? I do plan on advancing in this hobby as well... Thanks!
@papishow - If you expect you'll be getting more helis in the future, personally I would go with BNF and the DX7. It can be a pain to have a lot of TXs laying around :/
Hey, CrazyHeliDude, I have two questions if it's ok: 1) I got my first rc heli two days ago, which is a Blade MCX2. What should I get next? I have flown it for hours without a real crash so far. What's next for me? I don't want to go from beginner to advanced. I need an intermediate model.
2) I use my DX6i with my MCX2. When I set the model type to helicopter, I get no elevator response, why? I have the model type set as airplane to get all 4 channels.
@CarlosMerighe - I think the 120 would be fine for a next step. It's actually very easy to fly when you have a little experience. My buddy flew it ok and he barely knows jack about helis. About #2, not sure exactly. I have mine set to heli with my DX6i and it works fine. Have you checked the other setting in the DX6i, such as servo throw and what not?
Sorry if this has been addressed already. In the video you were flying with the DX6 with the equivalent of high rates. I have a DX8, how would I set up dual rates? I'm a plane guy and this is in fact my first heli. Thanks.
@baker5351 - I haven't used the DX8 yet, but I assume the procedure would be relatively similar. I would just look for the DR & EXPO menu, you should be able to do it from there, setting the rates for your TX DR switch on position 1 and position 2.
how can i set the transmitter im using to low rate mode?? using the LP5DSM (transmitter that came with cx2)? n how do i know if its on low rate or high rate besides being able to tell by the response?
hi i fly a belt v2 nose in etc (sometimes which means im not an expert) which should handle wind well but seems to be blown about more than my nine eagles solo pro fp comarativley speaking , which cuts thro wind that it shoudlnt do. Would you say the 120 is similar or worse in a breeze than the smaller version(simillar to solo pro) thanks for any help.ps belt si bit to stressful for me
I just picked up the 120sr and it did nothing like he describes "pendulum"in this video.first it will not hover,it likes to go backwards and to the right.the as for the rudder.it only turns right no left power, yes the blade does turn but slow and I tryed every thing.and the only way it will fly is from over three feet above the ground,if i try it sitting on the groung it spins and goes to the right.it's going back to the store so they can eather fix it or replace it.

@dosklown - Yeah it sounds like it might well be defective. I'd ask you to make a response vid and show us the problem (you can if you want), but it sounds pretty clear cut. Probably needs to be exchanged.
@dosklown dude, i ran into a similar issue one thing u gotta learn u gotta keep it a good distance off the ground or else your going to get a rotor wash effect where it basically recycles the air from the blades that it pushes down coming back up and blah blah making it unstable as hell, keep it at least a meter off the ground if you still own it, as for it going backward constantly make sure your swash plate is completely level, or if your lazy just trim it out and it should fix itself.
I have a question ware I live there is a lot of wind is this an out door heli? Can it handle wind like little breezes. Please reply and what level of heli is this? Beginner, Intermediate, advanced?
Also do you recommend this heli, like does it fall apart easy?
This can be an outdoor heli but I think it is primarily indoor. If you look at my post a few posts down, I do explain that it can handle slight breezes better than other helis I mentioned. Of course, once you go larger, you will not have any problems with breezes but I think the SR120 is still too small for strickly outdoors. I would say this is an intermediate heli. As far as durability, I have slammed it into walls and struck chairs before with no problems. Very strong!
@prohomevideos - Same here. I have crashed into quite a few things and it came out unharmed. Only "flaw" I've discover so far is that the linkages tend to come off rather easily in crashes. When I pick my heli up from a crash I immediately check to see if the linkages are all still on. If they're not, I remembered where I picked it up so I can search the area for the linkages.
Thanks for the video series, but please work on cutting out some of the lengthy talk time and work on the essential points. The videos will be more valuable when they are shorter, and to the point. I felt like I was waiting a long time to learn a little.
@jr9950 - I understand what you're saying. Sometime I tend to "over explain" things at length for the complete newbies that may be watching ... making sure I fill in the detail gaps with the time allotted. But you are correct: As an instructional video maker it is a delicate balance, as some find the videos not containing "enough" information. Thus I prefer to give too much than too little.
I just got this heli and absolutely love it. I have MCX, MSR, CX3 and MCX2 and this is my favorite because it has the ability to fly outsize in a decent breeze. The previous helis that I mentioned would not handle any breeze at all. I got this thing pretty high up and yes, the breeze was obvious and I had to fight it but I did get it to come back to me. Very durable as well, I flew it real high and battery started to die and it came down hard on the concrete and didn't break anything.
@prohomevideos - The 120 is very durable. I've hit a few things with it and haven't had any broken parts yet. One thing you might want to watch for if you crash, is to look and make sure none of the swash plate or pitch links have popped off. If the heli (any heli) hits the ground, always remember exactly where you pick it up, as that's likely where the parts will be. That's said, the 120 is a very nice RTF heli.
@Piggish450 - How far is it tilting back? If it's not too much you should be able to trim it. Look at the swash plate carefully. See if everything is at it should be.
Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

quickguesswho 5 months ago
@quickguesswho - Yes it does. It's the aggressive nature of this flybar stabilizing system. There are trade offs. Ultra stability but you get the pendulum effect. Still this heli is very good as a trainer or for those who are beginners, to teach basic heli orientation. I use mine mainly as an indoor flyer.

@baker5351 - I haven't used the DX8 yet, but I assume the procedure would be relatively similar. I would just look for the DR & EXPO menu, you should be able to do it from there, setting the rates for your TX DR switch on position 1 and position 2.

hi i fly a belt v2 nose in etc (sometimes which means im not an expert) which should handle wind well but seems to be blown about more than my nine eagles solo pro fp comarativley speaking , which cuts thro wind that it shoudlnt do.

@CrazyHeliDude
Is there a way to put it in LOW RATE MODE using an Eflight LP5DSM transmitter ?
goshiki59 1 year ago
@goshiki59 - Will it go into low rate by pushing in the cyclic stick? I've never bound the heli to that TX.
CrazyHeliDude 1 year ago
@goshiki59 - Never done it, but I believe you can change the 120 to low rate using the Channel 5 knob of the LP5DSM.
CrazyHeliDude 1 year ago
@CrazyHeliDude
Yes ,that is how its done,......I figured it out but thanks for getting back to me,.....and thanks for all the info,,,,you do a great job !!!!
goshiki59 1 year ago

Thanks Please some one reply
Clambercty 1 year ago
This can be an outdoor heli but I think it is primarily indoor. If you look at my post a few posts down, I do explain that it can handle slight breezes better than other helis I mentioned. Of course, once you go larger, you will not have any problems with breezes but I think the SR120 is still too small for strickly outdoors. I would say this is an intermediate heli. As far as durability, I have slammed it into walls and struck chairs before with no problems. Very strong!
prohomevideos 1 year ago
@prohomevideos - Same here. I have crashed into quite a few things and it came out unharmed. Only "flaw" I've discover so far is that the linkages tend to come off rather easily in crashes. When I pick my heli up from a crash I immediately check to see if the linkages are all still on. If they're not, I remembered where I picked it up so I can search the area for the linkages.

Thanks for the video series, but please work on cutting out some of the lengthy talk time and work on the essential points. The videos will be more valuable when they are shorter, and to the point. I felt like I was waiting a long time to learn a little.
jr9950 1 year ago

Very durable as well, I flew it real high and battery started to die and it came down hard on the concrete and didn't break anything.
prohomevideos 1 year ago
@prohomevideos - The 120 is very durable. I've hit a few things with it and haven't had any broken parts yet. One thing you might want to watch for if you crash, is to look and make sure none of the swash plate or pitch links have popped off. If the heli (any heli) hits the ground, always remember exactly where you pick it up, as that's likely where the parts will be. That's said, the 120 is a very nice RTF heli.

I have flyed the e-flite blade mcx i don't crach at all do you thing i can handle the blade 120sr, Great Vidio.
gtorres1719 1 year ago
@gtorres1719 - Yeah just take it slow and you'll get it. It's pretty easy to learn to fly cuz it's very stable for a single rotor.
CrazyHeliDude 1 year ago
your blades look very balanced how did u do it ?
treehanger20 1 year ago
@treehanger20 - Check out the Tips n Tricks video on the 120. You have to tighten down the blades just a bit.

I just got the 120sr and I saw the swash plate tilting back is this right or should a setup to level it? Or just fly and trim it
Piggish450 1 year ago
@Piggish450 - How far is it tilting back? If it's not too much you should be able to trim it. Look at the swash plate carefully. See if everything is at it should be.

It looks like you tightened your blades down. How much should they be tightened?
helicruzer 1 year ago
@helicruzer - Just tight enough that they don't flop around but no tighter. You should be able to move them easily in the blade grip.
