@kovacs88 He used a torque socket (accutorq or similar) when he was putting the wheel back on, no need to hand tighten. I also agree that is slow as shit, I think I was that slow, in my first week. Also nothing wrong with the cone type balancer, although ergonomic balancers are the bomb. I do miss the old Coates 40/40 at work, I could do 4 tyres on a commodore and balance (steel rims) and bvack out the door in 7 mins by myself.

@knightatnight if you know much about impacts you will know that the "strange" socket that he has on the impact wrench is a torque bar, when you use it, it will go to a certian torque and the impact will not tighten any more, this was obviously made as a commercial and the rotor does not come even close to the shop floor.

@Lyndon223 That's not me in the video, and I've been a mechanic going on 15 years, and I hand torque every wheel, I agree with you there. But I prefer to put the cone on the front, because the rubber has left marks before. The cone is balanced perfectly itself, so I don't see any reason you can't use it on the front on an aluminum wheel. I wouldn't on a steel wheel, because the center isn't always completely true on the front of the wheel, but I think it centers the wheel just fine.

You don't even really have to look closely, it's pretty obvious when he lowers the car that the there's no wheel on there, all you see is the brake rotor. I noticed that before even reading the comments. That's some real professional service right there! Pay for a tire change and end up needing new brake rotors.
We never torque wheels with a torque wrench and just roll with what the torque stick deals out, haven't had a wheel come off in 5 years.
The purpose of a torque stick is to not over tighten a lug and damage the lug or the stud, but they do 20-60+ ft-lbs of additional torque, why even bother double checking.
@ovalracer44 He's only just put the vehicle on the floor, you shouldn't use a torque wrench before that, and you can't on the front wheels. The torque sticks prevent overtightening, which is critical on alloy wheels.
@wordreet Torque sticks do not work. By engineering principles if a toque stick worked it would break at the torque it is rated for. All it takes is a decent sized half inch drive ratchet, to pretorque the wheels. I can put about 50 ft lbs on with a ratchet easily, then set the vehicle on the floor without putting all the weight on the tires and then torque the wheels, and imagine that, I didnt have to buy a stupid set of torque sticks that do not work.

@ThomasXp He used torque sticks, which are extensions that are designed to twist and give at a certain torque spec, and no longer tighten the bolt. I've used them a handful of times, always have been spot-on the torque wrench.
@Mrkrazedklown the outside of the wheel is made for the logo and nothing else.. the inside is precision made for best balancing.. and if you are in the tire buisness you should know this.. thats common knowlegde.. just try to put a piece of paper between the rim and the hub on the balancer and see the difference..
You cant balance a wheel with the cone on the outside !! FOOL.. And the torque stick on the air gun only tightens with 90 NM.. A bmw alloy should be tightend with at least 120 nm.. Poor workmanship

@EJholden He only put it down enough so the front wheel was touching the ground so he could torque the lug nuts.

@EJholden you dont fully tighten the lug nuts until the weight of the car is on the tire, even distribution of torque to the lugs, and the car was still supported by the lift, the rear rim never touched the ground

@EJholden He did it to torque up the wheel I bet. He prolly just used the impact gun to snug them up fast... atleast I would hope xD.

@ThomasXp He used torque sticks, which are extensions that are designed to twist and give at a certain torque spec, and no longer tighten the bolt. I've used them a handful of times, always have been spot-on the torque wrench.

@Mrkrazedklown the outside of the wheel is made for the logo and nothing else.. the inside is precision made for best balancing.. and if you are in the tire buisness you should know this.. thats common knowlegde.. just try to put a piece of paper between the rim and the hub on the balancer and see the difference..

You cant balance a wheel with the cone on the outside !! FOOL.. And the torque stick on the air gun only tightens with 90 NM.. A bmw alloy should be tightend with at least 120 nm.. Poor workmanship

@zk351 there called torque sticks rating from lowest of 60 ft-lbs to 110 ft-lbs most cars are ussually blue which is 78-82 ft-lbs torque
