The sense of ominous, brooding suspense created by the first 1.20 seconds of apparent calm is almost unbearable. It's like a Hitchcock film in miniature.
To anyone watching, skip to 1:25 - yes, 85 seconds of this 93 second video are pointless :-)
Happened only a few laps into the race too. Was very impressed that the crash didn't slow 'em down. A brilliant example as to why they yell "ON YOUR RIGHT/LEFT!" before they overtake - the chap in front would then have held his line or moved to the other side.
Obviously an amateur cameraman! A pro would have kept it rolling to record the gory aftermath (as well as making £250 from You've Been Framed). I was there, a good day all round. Well done Knutsford and all the riders, they must be a little bit mad!
@TeamSpendaPenny Your team did extremely well - well done to all. Do you do this alot? How do you guys manage to source these machines - they must be pretty rare now. I got the impression there were also a few custom made models but I maybe wrong on that!
@rtimson1 The bike was purchased at a specialist bike auction last autumn favouring an authentic machine as opposed to a replica - but there are firms out there make modern versions. Info on the Team Spend a Penny bike is available on the team spend a penny website.
@dtjames1 I checked out your web site you guys are clearly doing good work! Rumour has it that the rider in white on this video who crashed into the Czech broke both arms - and the Chez was dq'd for dangerous riding - do you know if this is correct? If this is the case v unfortunate but I guess riding these machines at speed inevitably carries a risk.
@TeamSpendaPenny Firstly I'd like to say that I am glad you managed to pick yourself up from that nasty crash. I'd also like to point out that the team prize was in fact won by Kat and Charlotte after a mix up with the results on the day. You were the first team home on an original bike though so well done on that. I notice that you have put this right on your web site now, so thanks for that.

Dude, for the love of God, edit this film. Why do we need an entire minute of random riders before the event? Seriously.

Why did you choose that exact moment to stop recording?

@charlescenters
It should be about 10 seconds long; the camera shouldn't have been turned off.

Ouch! The list of injuries sounds pretty horrendous! Wish I was there to see the race.
