The Secret is a piece of crap! and what napolean hill is teaching has been around forever. You still have to study and work hard in the goal you are trying to achieve.
I just want to be a professional gamer, I want to compete, I want to taste sweet victory and I want to share defeat with my teamates. I want to make mistakes and learn from them, I want to come up with ideas and strategies to share my knowledge with others who share this very same dream. I want others to look up to me, I want my opponents to fear me, but mostly I want to make a living for myself and the girl I love so much.

I think due to copyright expiration dates, the entire book is available for free online, on youtube so you can listen to it while driving. I listen to the videos posted on here while driving, on my iphone. If you have a tapedeck get an adapter and plug it to your phone, it works with blackberry too, if not, use another plug, I completely stopped listening to the radio or music because this is much more productive. :) life is good!

@LukeKoman Yes, the book is very good. The information inside it is just like the videos, though. It's the type of book that you will read and re-read in your quest for success, so it is nice to have a copy to refer to when needed.
@LukeKoman Actually, the book is wonderful. However, you don't have to buy it, just search google for it; there are free pdf versions of it. That's what I have now, BUT I will be buying a hardcopy version so I can make notes and highlights.
It's true only true to a particular extent, You work hard to achieve your dreams no matter how far they are, they're achievable but you don't just sleep and expect dreams to come true.

My goal is to start an independent charter school and then revamp the entire curriculum to teach things like this instead of just memorize and regurtitate style of learning in schools today.

Wallace D. Wattles published the Science of Getting Rich in 1910 (you can find it free on the internet) and Norman Vincent Peale published the Power of Positive Thinking in 1952, both predating Mr. Hill's version of the Law of Attraction (LOA).
They basically all say the same thing.

@violetgypsie Actually, Napoleon Hill wrote the first edition of "Think and Grow Rich" in 1937. He wrote the second edition in 1960. That being said, I think the LOA is more of a metaphor than a literal thing. Hill talks repeatedly about thoughts leading to action, and there are some (not all, but some) who talk about LOA who seem to stop at that point, and this is a huge mistake.
On page 2 when he says 'what do you intend to give' Does he mean the man hours to put into achieving your goal, or Charity/sharing your riches with others?
@zerple perhaps. The time, relationships and money etc.. you want to invest to achieve what ever your goal is. Giving is in some ways about making a sacrifice. Changing a negative habit or changing your Believe System.
@zerple It means that it is based on effort. In chapter 2, he explains that all success must be predicated on justice in order to last, so all wealth-building programs that are built to last are going to have to do the right thing for everyone involved.

There is good advice in the book but it is so berried in his superstitious beliefs about physics pseudo Science vibrations of infinite intelligence I can't help but be turned off. I am not sure why no one points this out that many of his beliefs about Science are nothing more than superstitions!

There you go, you said it well. It's very obvious that people who say such things have absolutely no idea what Hill teaches, has done or who he is and what he's about. As well as showing themselves to be the biggest failures of all, when it comes to somebody like bellum... Absolute picture of exactly the opposite of what Hill describes as success, a person like that could be worth billions and still be a failure because they're miserable and petty.
What people such as yourself miss when confronted with a message such as this is the wisdom and cleverness with which it is done. Without having to quote scripture, Napoleon Hill explains success in absolute Christian standards and precepts. In fact he goes so far as to define success by the golden rule; Hill: "Success is the knowledge to get whatever you want out of life WITHOUT VIOLATING THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS AND BY HELPING OTHERS TO ACQUIRE IT".
Your statements don't make sense and it's obvious you have not understood anything he's talking about. He was actually an extremely religious man and doesn't teach deceit in any way shape or form. Only a belief that an angry god wants everybody to believe they should be impoverished unless "luck" hands them success could stimulate the types of things you're saying. Or a semantical misunderstanding of what is being said.

I had managed to get a degree as a late bloomer with two children, 6 & 2. Upon graduation, I moved away from my hometown after 29 years living there. We moved to Dallas. I had never been anywhere else in my life.
Despite the degree, I easily slipped back into depression and fear. I fight it everyday. I happened to find the book here discussed, and it began the most significant change in my thinking that helped me get my kids raised and build a business.

Napoleon Hill is not a very spiritual man.. He said some things that are false and deceive the reader. For example: "make deadlines", "imagine money" (not the things you really want...), "be a worker, an employee" (not a rich man who does what he/she want), "learn in schools" etc... They are very limited ideas, and it is seen that the writer didn't understand completely, what the Secret really is. Instead of this delusive book, I recommend from Gikandi: A Happy Pocket Full of Money.

Wallace D. Wattles published the Science of Getting Rich in 1910 (you can find it free on the internet) and Norman Vincent Peale published the Power of Positive Thinking in 1952, both predating Mr. Hill's version of the Law of Attraction (LOA).
They basically all say the same thing.
If you are looking for a modern day "how to guy", my favorite LOA teacher is Michael Losier. lawofattractionbook (dot) com and on facebook and twitter. Thanks for this great post. Blessings.

@violetgypsie Actually, Napoleon Hill wrote the first edition of "Think and Grow Rich" in 1937. He wrote the second edition in 1960. That being said, I think the LOA is more of a metaphor than a literal thing. Hill talks repeatedly about thoughts leading to action, and there are some (not all, but some) who talk about LOA who seem to stop at that point, and this is a huge mistake.

@zerple perhaps. The time, relationships and money etc.. you want to invest to achieve what ever your goal is. Giving is in some ways about making a sacrifice. Changing a negative habit or changing your Believe System.

@zerple It means that it is based on effort. In chapter 2, he explains that all success must be predicated on justice in order to last, so all wealth-building programs that are built to last are going to have to do the right thing for everyone involved.

This means anything: the work to be done, the discipline to be implemented, the sacrifice to be made, the time to be allocated,
Everything has a price in life. Nothing is for free, that's for sure.
Dr. Hill helps people to define those possibilities versus the price to be paid in order to materialize those desired possibilities.

There is good advice in the book but it is so berried in his superstitious beliefs about physics pseudo Science vibrations of infinite intelligence I can't help but be turned off. I am not sure why no one points this out that many of his beliefs about Science are nothing more than superstitions!

As a Scientist most of the crap about infinite intelligence or telepathy is just garbage
He believed humans communicate over telepathy well most of his superstitions have been sorted out and proven false the last 60 years, There is no infinite intelligence we are not communicating with the Universe so it kind of leaves his philosophy bankrupt when it is based on fallacies Science.

As well as showing themselves to be the biggest failures of all, when it comes to somebody like bellum... Only a belief that an angry god wants everybody to believe they should be impoverished unless "luck" hands them success could stimulate the types of things you're saying. Mr Hill's work gave me an edge in the market place, so it's good.

I had managed to get a degree as a late bloomer with two children, 6 & 2. Upon graduation, I moved away from my hometown after 29 years living there. We moved to Dallas. I had never been anywhere else in my life.
Despite the degree, I easily slipped back into depression and fear. I fight it everyday. I happened to find the book here discussed, and it began the most significant change in my thinking that helped me get my kids raised and build a business.

Napoleon Hill is not a very spiritual man.. He said some things that are false and deceive the reader. For example: "make deadlines", "imagine money" (not the things you really want...), "be a worker, an employee" (not a rich man who does what he/she want), "learn in schools" etc... They are very limited ideas, and it is seen that the writer didn't understand completely, what the Secret really is. Instead of this delusive book, I recommend from Gikandi: A Happy Pocket Full of Money.
