I could not agree more. I first heard the Pentangle Sweet Child Album on local Portland Radio about 1973- I ran to the large local record store to buy that entire double vinyl. I still have it, ironically just bought the newer CD version with much more bonus tracks. No sooner to find that Bert Jansch passed on last week just after I saw him perform last year here and had him autograph my Sweet Child album. His performance had the crowd in tears. Thanks to Anne Briggs!
Anne Briggs - Don't know much about you other than you have the voice and soul of an angel, your eyes could melt any anger, and your way with a song is unique and priceless. Being the father of beautiful daughters who sing and play, I am gifted with the chance now and again to hear the voices of angels sing in my house. And then I can listen to you through time and the changes, still clear and lovely. Thank you lady. "Beauty is Truth, Truth - Beauty." - John Keats
I am sitting listening to this on a smallholding in Wales. I can see our sheep in the orchard and pigs in the sty eating windfall apples. The 60s certainly calmed down a bit I suppose but all this stuff is still going on. Anne Briggs has given me a soundtrack that sounds contemporary as well as traditional. It's good to look back but remember we can still have it now.
I found this track because of new book by Rob Young: "Electric Eden - Unearthing Britain's Visionary music". Worth a read - and definitely worth every penny to me, if only because I found my way here, to these songs. Any advice on buying Anne Briggs on CD?
I am floored I have not heard her before. I feel rather embarrassed about it; like I just discovered Dylan. Anyways, she is an artist who's voice ensures we are "asking the questions" in our life about everything or else we are sentenced to a Matrix-like existence and not reflecting. She's a keeper.
I like what is written above..ie dogeatdog etc...it is just magic stuff and flies in the face of our'celebritee culture' and all its trimmings...wots all that about but image anyway!
I'm reading a Zeppelin book and got here by accident I study finger picking acoustic blues folk country3 comments what the fuck I don't wanna be negative but Britney Spears and Paris Hilton should die... 3 comments 747 views god..! what is up with modern music and youth.
@DROTTOHARRIS Another note: This album is almost 4 decades old. You think we'll be listening to the Jonas Brothers record 4 decades from now? Hell no! Good music is timeless.
@DROTTOHA Then again it's actually quite a nice feeling to feel smug in the knowlege that you know something all these prolls don't know about; kind of like a secret society....terrible I know, but I'm being candid.
@clean3 Haha smug in the knowledge and all that ! nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat and all that ,know what you mean yeah! Sent this to my freinds on Facebook a few Celtic/ Aussie girls from school.
@DROTTOHARRIS please don't speak like that about brave britney and much used paris. they are very sad M K ULTRA sex slaves and deserve our sympathy. look rather to the paternalistic and big brother culture we have lived in for decades which actively encouraged pornography for men's 'gratification' and then spits on the sex objects in the mainstream media. double standards anyone?
@jaddajn1 you've made me feel shameful i will listen to britney with an open pair of boxer shorts , sorry i mean ears...what exactly is is MK Ultra sex slave btw ?
@DROTTOHARRIS so you 'listen to britney with an open pair of boxer shorts' and at the same time think she 'should die'? time you googled 'the vigilant citizen'
@jaddajn1 Time you googled sarcasm.... when I first saw this it had 40 hits talent-less turds like Britney and Paris have millions of hits , my point is basically how does crap get popular? I posted this on face book as I know a lot of Celtic and British blooded Aussies , it's now at 20 odd thousand , I 'd like to think I helped as c , most people on this You Tube page would agree about mass produced crap , buy a tool box mate

Sounds like Bert Jansch on Guitar. All told, it is great. Seems to be where Pentangle got it.

It's an absolute tragedy this has only been viewed 500 times.
I will probably treble that number alone, now that I have found this.
Outstanding and truly perfect.
