  • damn!

  • billy is excellent but dang the contestant is a mind reader! just took 1 clue each and she got them!

  • Billy Crystal's record STILL stands tall today!

  • monkeys in a barrel? wtf?

  • @DzekoVelez Monkeys in a barrel was a very popular toy in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Most people had them or knew about them.

  • @sexyloser I know but its stupid

  • @sexyloser The Toy Story movies also introduced "Monkeys in a Barrel" to a new generation, lol

  • Billy Crystal SHOULD host the 'next' variation of "Pyramid".

  • @Rlotpir1972 THAT IS A WONDERFUL IDEA! I NEVER THOUGHT OF IT- I'M GLAD YOU DID!

  • @Rlotpir1972 Him or Vicki Lawerence, both have been on it long enough and entertaining enough.

  • lol, 'monkeys..things in a barrel', wtf? i remember that toy, but talk about telepathy with the two above...

  • @thecrashpit

Actually, the phrase "more fun than a barrel of monkeys" gave it to her, not the game. However, that reminds me of my all time favorite Wheel Of Fortune answer "more fun than a barrel of vikings."

  • How the hell did she guess, "BARRELL" with the clue of "Monkeys?" Hell, would have said, "Jungle." LOL That's like me saying, "Spinach," and she says, "PIZZA." That would be the LAST answer I would think of.

  • @MzTJones80 Ever heard the phrase "More fun than a barrel full of monkeys"?

  • @MzTJones80 - there used to be a toy called "Monkeys in a Barrell".

  • Everyone else has commented, so why not. I'm not as surprised that she got the figures clue off of 8 (still surprised), but you ever wonder why he didn't try it via "shapes"?? Triangles, squares would have been easier. The barrel of monkeys: MAYBE since he said plural instead of singular monkeys, that's how she got it. I had "Barrel of Monkeys" as a toy, but even I don't know if I would have gotten it on the FIRST?! guess. Not the toughest board, but things in a barrel got others stuck before.

  • @ErniePaulGeorge probably because of the term "Figure" 8

  • Billy's clue was the only clue I can come up with for WILT (which I feel was a killer).

  • @Sjsuman5000

Men's starched collars on a hot day.

  • lol win

  • The contestant won this one, not Billy. The categories were a slam-dunk. A hamster with Alzheimer's disease would have won with this board.

  • question... is this a $10,000, a $15,000, or a $20,000 win? They never flashed the win graphic...

  • @blozier2006

It was a $10,000 win. The reason they never flashed the graphic for it was because this was actually taken from the introduction of a surviving episode which displayed the full WC (but didn't flash the graphic), while the original episode (which did) was destroyed.

  • They call that being in the zone and if had Billy Crystal not got hung up on that last one, it would have been probably a 20 second win

  • @KJdaBlackBandit Actually, I give Billy Crystal credit for not rushing and making sure he gave a good, legal clue - it would have been so easy to blow the whole thing on the last pyramid square.

  • and a lot of credit to that girl, too. brief clues and she was done.

  • Btw, Monkeys in a Barrel was also featured in the first Toy Story movie :)

  • @fivebearrugs - For that comment, you get a pat on the head, and a cookie. Very good.

  • @fullbag50 Haha, that's also how I "reward" friends of mine when posting on messageboards or Facebook :p

  • What made it even better was Billy was just taking his time between each clue!

  • First time a saw this Pyramid shows was on ABC weekday mornings on the late 70's before I went to school! It was fun then and is fun now!

  • Yeah, I think this show is rigged :-\

  • Clue: Monkeys

    Answer: Things in a barrel

how the fuck did she know that? If you said Monkeys I would guess like: Things you call hairy people or some stuff like that

  • I think mokeys in a barrel were big back then or something.

  • @zackalphaomega don`t you think it`s wise to mind about yourself not other people? niggers ina barrel? GROW UP IDIOT

  • woah now! don't get all uppidy!

  • its a game, like monopoly, its just old and not around anymore.

  • we are like teh same age and i don`t know that game. what was it called?

  • yeah i didnt play it either but it was out then, its like loads of stupid games now like operation its just with monkeys in a barrell. lol

    check google????

  • ::chuckle:: You're pretty young, aren't you? In the 70s, a barrel of monkeys made sense.

  • @VonTrousers lol Pretty young? Not so much I`m an 80s baby

  • Lmfao Monkey! Things in a barrel! Lmfao! Where did that come from!? Oh, im laughing tears.

  • You've never heard of Monkeys in a Barrel? It was a classic kid's game.

  • Yeah of course I have, I used to play with them. But that doesn't mean that from monkeys, one would guess things in a barrel. Its freaking hilarious.

  • @Alucard255

I, it wouldn't be my first guess either.

  • hahahahaaaaa....... leno also. = u =;;

    billy is awesome

  • Did she just go nuts over $200 dollars??? or has inflation just made $200 look like shop change?

  • She actually just won $10,000. The amounts on the trilons are for how much she would've won if she hadn't gotten all six in time.

  • Damn, back then that could buy a house

  • @fox20012 10 thousand dollar pyramid, you idiot. basically, like winning $1M+ USD

  • @jimmybilbo he's an idiot for not knowing the grand prize on a show that had $10,000, $25,000 and $100,000 grand prizes at one time? the hell, man?

  • @fox20012 hahaha - "did she just go nuts for over $200".

  • @fox20012 you're pretty stupid.

  • Billy Crystal rocked Pyramid!!

  • I think Billy Crystal should host the next version of Pyramid called "The $1,000,000 Pyramid". Pilots are being done currently in both Hollywood and New York.

  • I agree!!

  • LENO!

  • I also got this from watching Leno! I'm a huge Billy C fan and he's the best pyramid player ever!

  • haha me too

  • Leno :-)

  • This girl obviously had been given the answers. She gets everything first time - even the most obscure things. If you hear "monkeys" - is your very first word association "things in a barrel?" Give me a break. But we've know for a long time that the game shows of the 60s&70 were rigged.

  • Actually, "Barrel of Monkeys" was a very popular toy back then (and is actually still around today) so its quite conceivable that she could have come up w/ it on her own.

  • leno!!

  • WEST!!! love leno

  • wow i wasnt the only one watching leno...lol

  • west coast baby!!! :) L.A. in the house!

  • West Coast Leno In da house!

  • Leno bump

  • shall i guess....the Jay Leno show??? :D

  • Everyone take a wild guess why I watched this video and am now posting on it!!!

  • Comment removed

  • LENO (BC referenced this on)

  • would have never known this. thanks 10@10!

  • Billy Crystal on Jay Leno told me to watch this video!!!!

  • was obligated to look too!! lol

  • haha you are watching too

  • crystal just mentioned this on leno he even said go to youtube

  • I remember once the subject was 'Clean Things' and the contestant gave great clues "A surgeon's hands" "An operating room." "Surgical instruments." The other person looked totally blank. Then in desperation with three seconds left she gasped "A Baby's bottom!" and immediately the other one said,"Clean things" just before the buzzer. The host said,"That's the worst winning clue I've ever heard.''

  • 0:36 - Billy's like, I didn't know I had it IN me.

  • and then they got married

  • "Monkeys."

    "Things in a barrel."

    Unbelievable.

  • What an incredible win!!!!! 1 clue for each subject, and she wins the money. The woman is psychic!

  • why was the first thing she thought of when she heard 'monkeys' was things in a barrel!?? what about a zoo, the jungle. trees! seemed a bit too easy

  • Well, he had the right idea -- think of a "figure eight" in the context of skating.

  • And that, my friends, is the game played to perfection. Yes - she was lucky at times, but throwing out a guess, even if wrong, helps the clue giver.

The contestant was in the zone and Billy Crystal did a great job!

  • @dukestreetking75 it's also important to keep in mind that they weren't all necessarily easy questions.Myself,I probably would have gotten stumped on 'Generals'.

  • I never seen someone go through the whole pyramid and have more than 30 seconds leftover.

  • OMG OMG OMG

  • Really, it was the contestant that made this win huge. I mean, did you hear how much louder the audience was after the barrels one?

  • @Hondo20132 She deserved the applause for getting it on only one clue.

  • I believe the record was tied twice. One in 1987 and one in 2002. I would love to go in that "Winner's Circle" and win it in less than 26 seconds.

  • they were 27 second times, not 26 in 87 and 02.

And that was pure luck on some of those guesses in that clip (Monkeys... Things in a Barrell!, I would of not gotten it that quickly)

  • Seriously, the monkey one is what did it. These days no one gets that because the phrase is not nearly as popular as it was back then.

  • Simply Mahvelous Pyramid Celebrity!

  • We're fortunate to still have this clip around in good quality.

  • That's pretty sick. How does "Things in a Barrel" jump into your head with just "Monkeys" as a clue?

  • Maybe she was reading pirate novels before this or something.

  • The game maybe? Thats how i got it. Barrel O' Monkeys.

  • You're not kidding! It almost gets you wondering if there's a conspiracy afoot... (I kid, I kid!)

But man, the way they get the answers from a clue that can go 100 different ways... insane.

  • Especially that barrels one...

  • You know you're getting old when nobody else can remember the expression, "More fun than a barrel of monkeys."

  • How much did the lady win on that record setting day?

  • If you listen carefully, it sounds like she said $10,000

  • Billy Crystal's record would never come close to being broken on any format of pyramid.

  • Actually, Picabo Street managed to win for her partner in just :28, a mere :02 shy of tying his record, on the Osmond version.

  • @Sammy4549 I wouldn't even count anything established on Donny Osmond's Pyramid, but it was still impressive nonetheless.

  • @landrykkb

Although some celebrity players on osmond's pyramid almost try to beat that 26 second win.

  • I don`t know..The one was suppose to be "LINES from Shakespear" and she just said Shakespear..I think they might have let her slide on that

  • No, she gave the essence of the category, which was acceptable under the rules.

  • the word "Shakespeare" was the focal word of the clue, so like what whatsayak mentioned, as long as she said that focal word she was good to go.

  • This happened way back in 1977!

  • you know, the original episode with this on it was erased, but before ABC erased it, they put it on one of there "winner Promos' before the game begins.

  • Actually, GSN showed the full episode during its 50 Greatest marathon.

  • My mistake; they aired another episode with Crystal, and aired this clip with it.

  • Yeah, the original tape got destroyed. Something that happened a lot with 70's game shows because videotape was so expensive then.

  • Still, I'd like to see of what's remaining.

  • Any idea what the lady contestant's name was? Of course, from her accent, you can tell she was from Booklyn, Queens, or Long Island, and, from her looks, I would say she was an Irish-American.

  • ....wtf
