I remember buying a remington 870 express synthetic 7 round. For reasons that are too complex to explain, I'd like to upgrade the totally trashed barrel. Does the slug barrel have to be attached to a "magnum" receiver?

this is really the only shot gun u need, i got the same thing, 28 in bird shot, and the riffled one, You can alson take the 2 plungers out and put a scope mount on it so it works as 3 guns in one, scope riffled, straight riffled and bird shot, best way to go

Unless you own a 11-87, and want a slug barrel! For the about price of a rifled cantaliver 3 1/2 inch mossy oak camo barrel for an 11-87, you can get a nice 870 slug shotgun. barrel= $350, 870= $500.

You must be doing a very thorough job. Why don't you google "How to clean a shotgun?" Or better yet, "How to clean a Remington 870 Express." I would love to know how you clean the shooting residue from the locking notch without removing the barrel, or carry out any of the other cleaning instructions present on page 13 of the Remington 870 manual. Damn! Some guy with a camcorder on Youtube doesn't know what he's doing? No way.

you can use 12 guage for boar. i used an 870 with a rifled barrel and scope combo to kill my hog. i do suggest using the remington accutip sabot slugs though. the boar are very tough animals. to give u an idea, i blew the heart out the other side. and it still got up and tried to charge,

We are not allowed the guns you are free to buy, collect and use. Even the 870 would have to be crimped so that only 2 shells could fit in the tube and have to be put on a Shotgun Certificate !

Its almost impossible to own any kind of weapon here in Britain. I'm glad most of our criminals don't have pistols, but sore than I can't own a sporting rifle. Its just about possible to get a shotgun licence, but slug barrels are illegal.

To shoot deer legally, you have to get a licenced full bore rifle, which unless you live on a big country estate is difficult..

I pull my barrel every time I clean my gun. If someone does not know how to pull that barrel they probably are not cleaning that gun correctly.
