  • Hey, I'm brazilian... the only that is not brazilian are the 'lost man'. bye

  • ...very confused.

  • In fact the "R" from the country of São Paulo state is quite similar to the american "R" ^^

Cariocas (people from Rio) love to make fun about this.

  • Funny.

He's american (I guess) but he's speaking more naturally than Raquel.

  • engraçado

  • Até aqui esses portugas ridículos vêm encher o saco?

Vão pedir esmolas pro FMI e saiam daqui, seus falidos!

Português é pedreiro e lavador de latrinas em toda a Europa!

  • ... is it A taxista or O taxista? At 4:43 the subtitle reads "a taxista" at 5:29 it is "o taxista". If I am not mistaken (at least in Italian) all ...ista-s are masculine, so it should be correct to say O taxista. One more thing: you forgot to call the attention to the fact that the verb "ligar" has the compulsory suffix "para". This is important for language learners! Otherwise, I could say: Liga o taxista, which is wrong.

  • @dl4sae9703 valeu pelo feedback! A few things: you're right, it's "o taxista" unless of course, it's a she. Same goes for dentistas, alpinistas and etc. (italian is different). The verb is often followed by "para" but there are plenty of cases where it's not. For ex, "vou ligar do orelhão" and "a que horas você vai ligar?" It would be good to have pointed out that whenever you are saying "call xxx (someone)" its necessary to use "ligar PARA xxx"

  • "call the taxista" lol

  • Então quer dizer que essa mariamanga começou a utilizar a internet anteontem e acha que sabe de tudo sobre o brasil? AHAHAHAH Não me faça rir!

  • @SULSP

Bem complicado esse assunto. Vai entender, né...

    Fique em paz!

  • Is the lost man a native speaker?

  • Comment removed

  • Dude's clearly lost as fuc...

  • why does she say Por favor like this Poh-favoh??

  • @thetrales : When an R is at the end of a word it's pronounced very lightly , almost "OH". If the R is at the beginning of a word it is totally silent. When the R is in the middle, it gets pronounced as a very light R sound.

ex: Rio de Janeiro is pronounced HEEO DE JANAY-RO

    Listen to Raquel say "perdido"

  • @jhallthird and the word "Progresso" is it pronounced "Proghesso"?

  • @thetrales claro que não! The clarity of the R in the middle of a word varies a lot depending on the word. There is no rule. "Perder" and Irmão" get a light "R" sound. Progresso and acreditar much heavier. When it follows a consonant it's usually a more distinct R. It's really rare to hear someone pronounce the R sound the way an english speaker does -- only certain regional accents.

  • @thetrales in the middle of a word when the R is before a consonant it is pronounced like a light R sound, when the R is before a vowel it is pronounced like a heavy R sound! (remember that this rules are for the accent from Rio and north/northeast regions). Some examples: Organizar (to organize) sounds like OHganizah - Progresso (progress) sounds like Progresso.

  • @thetrales because she's in Rio de Janeiro and the accent from that state is like that, in the other regions like south and northwest the R sounds like R always!

  • @TheMariaManga cala a boca..

  • @TheMariaManga e mais quando ajente fala, da pra entender! Voves nao, e desculpa nao sao brasileiro sou americana :O mias vivi no brasil por 3 anos!

  • The portuguese from Portugalit sounds diferent portuguese from Brasil, it's because the portuguese from Portugual has changed.

Brazillian portuguese is that one portugueses european used to speak when our countries was BRASIL PORTUGAL ALGARVES EMPIRE.

  • Unfortunately, so many Brazilians, speak Portuguese with so much errors

  • Comment removed

  • @thetrales ... if you said: 'eu não conheço onde eu estou' you would imply that you are not FAMILIAR with the place... to say you don't KNOW where you are it's 'eu não sei onde eu estou...'

  • @thetrales Now translate: Eu sei falar inglês e conheço o youtube.

  • Brazil Suck.. I Love the original Portuguese

  • @a11537 Vá se fudel otario! Brasil para Sempre PORRA!!!!

  • @a11537 AHHAHAHAHA...u must be kidding

  • ya!

    perdido porque?

    KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

  • Que lindiaaaaaaaaaaa!

  • @LEAFSFAN122 "the real Portuguese from Europe"? Many many many more people in the world speak Brazilian Portuguese than European Portuguese.

Calling someone else's accent "verbal garbage" is not just intolerant and hateful, it's very ignorant. Majority rules, friend, and as Brazil is the 5th largest country on the PLANET, Brazilian Portuguese is just as correct as Continental Portuguese.

  • @LEAFSFAN122

I totally understand what your saying, but Brazilian Portuguese is much much easier to learn. Portuguese from Portugal is very hard to understand for English speaking people. Main reason is there is too much emphasis on the "s" with "ush" and "ish" taking over a whole converstaion. It's not an insult, it's just much easier to learn.

  • @Booya9272 Portuguese from Portugal is very hard to understand for Brazilians as well :)

  • @LEAFSFAN122 Bah, isso que você disse não poderia ser mais ridículo, ignorante e infantil.. Me dá até vergonha alheia por vc de ler esse comentário. Vergonha não, pena mesmo pela sua falta de cultura, ignorância e bobice.. Pura pena.

  • @LEAFSFAN122 actually people shouldn't even think about learning what you called " the real Portuguese" as there are about 15 million people that live in Portugal making it almost extinct like Latin and 190 million people that live in Brazil..... we made Portuguese beautiful..... I've talked to at least 40 people who all said Portuguese from Portugal sounds horrible and they had no idea that what Brazilians spoke was the same garbage spoken in Portugal. with its horrible rough r's,and s's

  • @TubbyWilliams

You do know that brazilian portuguese has a much more conservative pronunciation than the european portuguese, right??

  • @TubbyWilliams

Garbage is what you have in the place where your brain should be!!

Seriously, it's amazing the amout of bullshit you post in your comments...

You just point out stupid arguments?!

This is me acting like you:

"At least European Portuguese didn't got stuck in the 16th century."

"At least portuguese people don't sound like they're talking some tribal dialect and don't kick the portuguese grammar so frequently!"

Seriously, get a life! Don't like it, then just don't listen to it.

  • @bluematter90 This is what "comments" are for! To freely express what one feels! And why do you suppose I badmouthed the Portuguese? Because of idiotic comments like yours tribal dialect? it's quite paradoxical that a person who probably speaks European Portuguese is calling Brazilian Portuguese a "tribal dialect" YOU are the ones that sound like dogs barking at each other! people have said this to me all the time it's hilarious that you're trying to deny pure fact. people who just listen to it!

  • @TubbyWilliams

I'm not denying pure facts, you're the one trying to pass your opinions as facts.

And I never said that brazilian portuguese is a tribal dialect, I was being sarcastic because I was trying to show you how idiotic your comments are, saying things such as "making it almost extinct like Latin" or "we made Portuguese beautiful" (this one is specially hilarious, considering european portuguese was the one that diverged the most), among others...

  • Perhaps that is why Brazilain music is the most beautiful and popular music in the world...it has its own identity. And I never hear anyone say that they would love to go to Portugal! You now remind me of my spanish speaking friends who are always saying that Portuguese sounds vulgar, and that they stole the spanish language. I always say to say to them "you are correct", Portuguese came from the very old Roman language known as VULGAR, but I also remind them that Portugues came first.

  • i would love to know portuguese...i understand some from watching telenovelas...greetings from romania

  • thanks for sharing guy..

thanks for the effort to share your

    knowledge.....

    keep up the good work..

    5 stars to this video..

I think english language amazing! Of course, there is something I need to improve! Now, I know to write, but I can't

understand a person talking! I have a bit difficulty to use much/many, the (I don't know when use it), and phrsal verbs (get, take) omg, it's so hard!!!) If someone wants traning portuguese, I can help you, by msn! Regards!!!

  • @Turtlekaiser Seu Ingles e bom. Eu so Ingles e ten o mesmo problema voce tenho, mas reversa. Minha esposa e Brasileira entou essa melhor para mim. Boa sorte com seu Ingles... Good luck !!

  • you can't learn it unless you speak it , but first you have to learn the alphabet

  • She is beautiful

  • Paul is Argentino Falando portugues

Paul is Argentinien speaking brasilian portugues

    from buenos aires

  • aham... Argentino não. Ele é carioca de verdade. Bom ator!

  • @jhallthird How do you know?

  • @vosharap quem fez esse clipe foi eu!

  • @jhallthird Really is that you? Are you Argentine?

  • @vosharap ... foi eu que dirigi... Caetano Omaihlan fez o papel do Paul.

  • @jhallthird But his wikipedia says he was born in Sao Paolo?

  • @vosharap sometimes we call someone that lives in Rio a 'carioca' ... even if they were born somewhere else. When the term 'carioca da gema' is used though, it means that they were born and raised in rio ;-)

  • @igna023 argentinos são povinhos.

  • Are the texts of these lessons available somewhere in portuguese?

  • good dvd bought it last week...

  • This lessons are really helpful, since i want to be more fluet in Brazilian Portuguese. You have helped me at least gaina stepping stone.

  • please Visit Espírito Santo, the best state ;)

  • he pronounced raquel the american way

  • the song is Ai, Ai, Ai by Vanessa da mata

by the way it's more common to say "liga pra ele" than "liga para ele" =]

  • what song is this? its so awesome...sorry to be off track

  • Portuguese is easy to learn you just have to practice everyday. The hard part is the grammar and verbs...Everything else is easy. If someone need help, i could help. Just send me a message.

  • The hard part is the grammar and verbs...

Of course, any language is relatively easy if you command verbs/grammar. What else is there ?

    No language is easy.

  • Well, portuguese is easier for who already know spanish(spanish speakers)...as well spanish is easier for portuguese speakers. So I can say that depends of the person, then you can say if a language is easy to learn. Also, people who really try and like learning, not just learning for work, traveling or something else, learn easier than other people. Latin + local barbarian language after Roman Empire Fall originated Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian, so they are kinda similar...

  • Which do you think is the true, real, Portuguese language... the Portuguese language of Brazil or the Portuguese language of Portugal ?

  • Well naturally the language origin is the real Portuguese! LOL...Brazilian portuguese is a dialect of the original...just as American English is a dialect of British English

  • @TwystydElegance you're an absolute moron.... American English is not a dialect... that shows how stupid you really are and Brazilian Portuguese is not a dialect...

  • @TubbyWilliams I think you are mistaken....before Portugal came to what is known today as Brazil...those people there did not speak Portuguese, they spoke a native Indian language that is pretty much extinct today...same as with American English. Before the Brittish came over here, we did not speak English.

So Portuguse is the official language but there are differnet dialects regionally within Brazil, Portugual, or other countries in the world that speak it.

    Same goes for English!

  • @TwystydElegance What does that have to do with anything?

  • @TwystydElegance We speak brazilian portuguese!

Portuguese with influences of the indigenous language TUPI Guarani!

Many words in the portuguese dictionary is from Tupi ex. most of Brazilians plants vegetals and the animals nanmes, food and places!

  • @MinaVanner I know that you speak Brazilian Portuguese. I am been learning the language for months now! LOL I was just clarifying with someone that people in Brazil didnt speak Portuguese until the Europeans from Portugual came over...same goes for people in South America that speak Spanish.

My grandmother was from Portugal, but I never learned the language. I prefer the accent of the Brazilians, it's probably the most beautiful language I have heard besides French.

  • Not Language of Portuguese Portugal Portuguse of Brazil very good language

    Correct language

  • Comment removed

  • @adolfohun i need some help speaking portugese. I really want to go to Brazil. but i need to learn the language a lil bit

  • @nikkiboi1 I could give you some help if you want.

  • @adolfohun yeah dude that would be really nice

  • Perhaps you can buy a CD called LANGUAGE NOW. This is a total emersion CD, it allows you to learn at your pace, copy & paste to your own dictionary. Hear words spoken by men & women with different accents. You can see a word by word translation, or an interpretation. I learned from this CD & by listening to Brazilian music, and of course from my Brazilian friends. Some of my Brazilian friends say that I speak like a poet...of course in reality I just don't know the correct words, ha! Dale Claus

  • @adolfohun .....Oi,como vai? yes,it sound easy and very beautifull but i want to have someone to practice . i just started to learn it,so it will take me some time. Are you from brasil or you learned it as well? i am from Mauritius.

  • @mamour7812 Read your messages :)

  • Que legal! I lived in Brazil many years ago...15 to be exact..it is a great country...I did learn portuguese, but I have forgotten a little and wanted to refresh my memory. This looks like a great way to do that. MUITO obrigada!

  • i love this language. If i could learn to speak it in school, i would be eternally grateful but my school doesnt offer it. i'll take formal lessons in the future. I HAVE TO LEARN PORTUGUESE!!

  • He speaks Portuguese by using American accent, she uses Rio's accent.

  • ... believe it or not - he is! Carioca da gema.

  • Is Paul brazilian?

  • portuguese is not that different from spanish, i think i can learn it pretty quick!

  • when you learn to speak Portuguese and Spanish will realize that there are many differences.

  • yeah especially the slang in brasil. then it is 2 totally different languages!

  • I think the pronunciation takes practice, as many words are pronounced differently in Portuguese than they look to a non-native speaker, nao? I can't wait to visit Brazil!

  • visit Santa Catarina..

    best state in the country

  • really really good! =)

  • I miss Brazil so much!

  • to threex- what is it like over there in sud america? lol i really wanna go to the other side of the world one day
