  • His voice cracked so much in this video

  • @matzenale He explains this theory in his book "Parallel Worlds" :]

  • Yea, until we get to that other universe and they don't want us there.

  • Is it just me, or are all of these "explanations" of string theory just courious metaphores that allthough captivating, dont really explain anything.

  • I am curious about one thing.

Even if you could generate a wormhole into another universe and travel through, what guarantees do you have that the universal laws of physics as we know them (Gravitational constant, planck constant, etc) function the same way in the other universe? Because even a very slight deviation in either of those and we would cease to exist in our current form.

  • Grava !!!

  • I have to watch his videos at 1/4 speed to prevent my head from exploding.

  • I like Michio kaku so much because he appreciates what he teaches. He truly enjoys it. He's like a very intelligent kid. He hasn't lost touch of what makes life worth living.

  • ...and then we discover we travelled to an even colder universe where the laws of physics differ from ours due to how expanded it is. Game over.

  • is it just me or Dr. Kaku sound sick?

  • 3:29 If all intelligent life will freeze, why are things blowing up?

  • holographic projections? please bring this to my university, i promise i will go to every lecture.

  • Now he mentioned "The Big Bang Theory" again. Sheldon!!!

  • lol nice remote...Gotta love a mac ;P

  • My god. This guy is awesome. Thanks for explaining it for us Mr. Kaku. :D

  • The tardis could save us the trouble ;)

  • I could listen to him all day long he makes it so much more interesting :):):)

  • @2010DarkDevilUK: yeah its weird isnt it? I mean he says basically the same thing like many other scientists, but he has a way of speaking that absolutely captures me. Awesome guy, much cleverer than me, I am afraid..

  • @jbagell10 lol i was excited to meet him its been a long time coming!!! i met him in Berkeley, Ca. i asked him is reality real lol and he said no and went off talking about shit i didnt understand lmao but it was a honor indeed

  • If time was always there... there could have been no genesis of the universe it just would always be which means that it is impossible for string theory to have kick started existance because existance would have already existed...

  • ALWAYS THERE

  • Before Genesis? Clearly time did not exist before genesis... In another one of your videos you said gravity moves across universes... But in order to have gravity you need space. Which means time and space are relative which means that timespace would have governed the universes before genesis, but before genesis you didn't have time, yet the creation of time and space were equavilant, but space has always existed. Which means it is impossible for the creation to even take place for it was cont.

  • did anyone else think this guy worked with Walter Bishop and William Bell in an alternate dimension?

  • bad cold :(

  • worm hole = mass effect field???? haha, I just played that game

  • wouldn't it be funny if that equation translated to "fuck you!"

  • 2:21 holy shit look at those symbols and i though my math was hard :D

  • just came seeing this guy and had a chance to shake his hand, what a honor

  • @bjl510blkman

either you were VERY excited to see him, or you made a slightly awesome typo

  • Wenn im bored i start watching Michio Kaku and then i get super smart but then i stop and i get bored agen xD

  • just came seeing this guy and had a chance to shake his hand, what a honor

  • for now they have equations, the next thousand years they have machines, and the next million a parallel universe travel passport.. how bout that?

  • i'm very glad that these physicists already search for solutions to prevent human extinction which may occur billions, or perhaps trillions of years in the future

  • @blssdfall27 There is actually (usually) a mass extinction every 26 million years, and the next one is due in 15 million, better pack your bags for Mars!

  • @ArtOnArms yeah! let's terraform Mars.

  • @blssdfall27 rofl, you're the 1/1000 that use that contraction correctly! Grats!

  • @blssdfall27 if we continue fucking our world with pollutants, war, and overpopulation, human extinction will happen a lot sooner than that.

  • isnt life a dream that we living it.

    got to love science

  • wow, that equation just melted my brain.

  • on way to escape the death of the univers >die before it hapens . when god decide its over then its over

  • @Rrollfox ....

  • Can someone please explain to me why all intelligent life will be destroyed when the universe becomes vast emptiness?

  • @379peterbilt530 Because there will be no energy to sustain life. Stars are the ultimate energy sources for their planets and stars don't live forever. Also, the process of star formation will come to an end when all the hydrogen and helium are used up by existing stars, and elements heavier than iron cannot be used as star fuel. So eventually the universe will practically run out of fuel.

  • Is it just me or does he have alot of voice cracks in this? >.<

  • is this theory, explained in simple form, ever discussed in primary school?

  • Yeah, because you need a flux capacitor, too. Clearly this ding dong didn't WATCH the movie.

  • @GodofFrankie The flux capacitor itself didn't provide any energy though. So it's irrelevant to his point.

  • Michio Kaku, meat Doctor Who.

  • @MZZenyl meet*

  • haha, for the love of god - first I was thinking we gotta leave earth so we don't get our asses super novafied, now, we have to exit the universe so we don't freeze to death. DAMN SCIENCE, U SCARY!

  • @Nazareadain Our sun won't supernova :) don't worry!

  • @linkxlove24 thats what i always said

  • He said we are born geniuses... but society specially in the moment of maturity,"high school,"... the geniuses inside us gets choked by meaningless rituals and imposed ignorance... so... yeah... school sucks hard..

  • WE GOTTA GET THE FUCK OUTTA THIS UNIVERSE!!@!@!@!!@!@!

  • oh my god, is this really scientific. if so, school sucks so hard.

  • mind blown.

  • i... i.. don't get it that much. i mean parallel universe and now this....this... string theory. its a bit confusing. well maybe google can help.

  • maybe that's what extraterrestrials are. advanced humans who want to reclaim what's theirs.

  • If find it hard to keep my attention on him because of his frequent voice cracks.

  • So no deLorean with plutonium, eh? What about a British police box from 1963 that's bigger on the inside? That has to work, its foolproof!

  • Wait wait... If there are tons of multiverses where did those come from? what is time where did it come from? what about space?

  • @TheCoolGuy367 A famous astronomer was once giving a speech about our place in the universe. He explained that the earth revolves around the sun, the sun revolves around the center of the galaxy, and the galaxy is just one of billions. An elderly woman stands up in the back and says, "Nonsense, the world is a flat plane resting on the back of a giant turtle." The astronomer smiled and asked, "what is the turtle standing on?" To which the woman responded, "Ah, it is turtles all the way down!"

  • @nozerty What is she trying to say? when she says "Ah, it is turtles all the way down!" that the turtle is on the ground or what?

  • @thatoneguy12ize That is a popular story among astronomers. It is basically symbolic of how one cannot avoid the concept of infinity when studying the universe. Your question about where the multiple dimensions came from reminded me of it. I mean, I imagine if we find out that all universes are created from a cosmological hammer and anvil of some sort, it will only raise the question of where the hammer and anvil came from. It seems as if we will never find the bottom turtle lol

  • so till now you thought that yogis were fools going around talking the same stuff hahahah XD

  • His presentations are that good, even his own voice think it's sick.

  • I want sum of wut hes smokin

  • @losyimmies grab a few books about quantum physics and string theory. You'll be as high as he is.

  • @losyimmies Just because you don't understand anything, doesn't mean he is dumb or high.

  • WHO made the actual video? That's pretty awesome in itself :)

  • so god is bubble soap?

  • @Ilikepiemonkeys97 no just fiction

  • all very fascinating, but his voice is doing my fucking nut in

  • @uninsp1redusername Yeah I'm guessing he was sick or something.

  • Is it me or does he keep squeaking?

  • Worm holes are fantasy.....you can't travel through them and the universe will not get cold.....Light with darkness have a symbioses life which they feed each other. There is energy in dark matter. And the universe has no shape it just moves into an irrational manner which equations can't define......They are governed only by laws of physics which act only as a building block everything is done by the collective free movement of electrons in Universe...just like our free will.

  • @BlediG1 You could if the hole swings by the 4th dimention first.... pop out into the 4th dimention then the next universe is a blink of the eye away. Example: what seems far away for a 2dimentionl creature (if you imagine one) is just the movement of the rist for us. So If you could jump through a balck hole unharmed then you'ld pop up into the 4th dimention. and then move your rist if you will lol over to the next universe.

  • @andypmz07 5th dimention sorry.

  • @BlediG1 No offense, but I'm pretty sure this guy knows just a little bit more about theoretical physics than you do...

  • Raiden

  • @Jubgaga i don't know what time zone you're in but if we're close to the same one. then we are a couple of bored fuckers.

  • is he.... drunk?

  • @zimcub I think he is just sick...

  • "Everyone, quick! Leave the universe."

  • He probably has a cold. We need to cure it. WITH SCIENCE!!!

  • Sheldon should watch this

  • When he said, at 3:40, that NOW we're entering the realm of science fiction, that was when he REALLY mindfucked me

  • But where did the bubbles come from?

  • "String Theory Ponderin"--Hurt Me Soal by Lupe Fiasco. Who else is here because of the OG Lupe Fiasco?

  • "all inteligent life must die"..so the stupid will survive?.. works for me! :)

  • Comment removed

  • @miosmio1 me too LOL

  • Reverse puberty?

    He is Benjamin Button!

  • Voice Break At 0:13

  • anybody have the full lecture or is this it?

  • O god. I'm on that awesome part of YouTube again....

  • he's on acid

  • Okay, who was fucking with the autotune on Michio's voice?

  • sam neil said it better..

  • Pretty superficial explanation of string theory, but to be expected for youtube.....

  • Would someone get him a glass of water?

  • gief wurmhole naoo! mee want! :P

  • Good information this is.

  • Alice in fucking Wonderland?!? That's the inspiration for interdimensional travel?!? And these are the same people that don't believe the "fairy tale" that is the Bible. smh.

  • @TheMontegonian Lol what's your point.

  • @TheMontegonian

The difference, you see, between Alice in Wonderland and the Bible, is that Alice in Wonderland was a simple example in this video, meant for the simple mind of a youtuber, while the Bible is the whole "truth", according to many christians. The theories on Interdimensional Travel, mentioned in this video, are of course backed up by scientific facts and calculations. Not fiction.

By means do I wish to spark a religious debate on youtube; there are plenty of those, already.

  • @PestBreed

    By no means*

    Forgive my typo.

  • thanks

  • Your presentation with the piece of paper makes me think of the Meobus strip. What do you think of the universe being a Moebus strip showing its infinity.....sort of...?

    Regards,

    Jacques

  • hes like the science teacher you wish you had in high school

  • @friendlycakeasaurus Yes, unfortunately they are not all like him...So interesting and want ing you to learn evermore about science...or physics...or any science...We haven't done anyting with the Moebus strip yet, any idea...?

  • Anybody else notice how much his voice was cracking in this video?

  • @metalElvalover I did. Perhaps he was sick!

  • @metalElvalover yeah, i think he's drunk....

  • @metalElvalover is this the only thing you understood about the video? :p hes just sickly.

    jokes aside,

    I love this man.

  • @HandofAdal Jokes aside. Agreed.

  • @metalElvalover 1:39 LMAO YES.

  • Hey, Michio Kaku. I don't know if you will read this but have you scientist ever tried sending something into a black hole? Just think about it what if a black hole, a region of space and time, links different dimensions?

  • Wow. Just imagine how advanced the human race will be in 1000 years, 10000 years! Maybe we never do build a time machine. (Or maybe not because we're not seeing our descendants)

    Just IMAGINE the possibilities.

  • @nullrox I'd really be surprised if we even make another 100 years, though. It seems we have enough potential to see what could have been, but alas not enough to actually make it happen.

Let's hope someone else picks up where we'll leave off. The universe deserves an audience that can appreciate its magnificence.

  • I don't wanna leave my Universe :D

  • What if we started all over again at the big bang?

  • @th4n4t0s25 That might work if our big, cold, dead bubble would collide with another bubble. Then it could be a new big bang with energy once more... right?

  • Comment removed

  • If we went to another universe, the different laws of physics there would almost certainly destroy us. That's what string theory predicts.

  • 1:58 "Think of taking a shitty paper".

  • Was I just listening to Master Yoda ?

  • @Gundogdogdog Yes, he looks a bit like that Yoda....don't tell him....lol

  • Well that's just depressing.

  • So you are telling me Micheal J. Fox didn't really go back in time?

  • Time is man made and not a factor.

  • @Carpathian2010 Every factor is only interpretation of empirics. How less is "time" man made than "particle"?

  • @Carpathian2010 Time is part of this theory to my knowledge. It's the "line" that makes up the 4th Dimension. But time itself is an integral part of both Hawkins and Einstein's theories where space and time are like interwoven fabrics. In any case, you can see time is a part of nature simply by studying satellites. They move so fast that time itself for them is slower than that of us Earthlings.

  • @DarkZerkerX not completely right, but you are almost there, time is the 4th dimension, its an integral part of relativity theory and the string theory, the universe is space-time, a single unit not 2 different things. satellites are so far away from earth that earth's mass no longer hold any effect on that part of the space-time fabric which they occupy, thus time moves slow if they are low orbit and are moving at 18000km/h and fast if they are in space

  • @sagar246246 Ah. The space-time being stretched by gravity right?

  • @DarkZerkerX im not completely sure but i think gravity doesn't effect space-time, but mass does.

  • @Carpathian2010 time is man made? care to expand that

  • @Carpathian2010 time is not man-made, seconds-hourhs and so on are man made, like "meters" or "feet", its a way to calculate time. However, time still exist, its the factor that makes it all possible. I could go deeper into what time really is, but it would take far to many comments to only begins to touch the surface of time, I reccomend reading up on physics buddy ;)

  • @MrEliiz That first statement doesn’t not make any sense. Time is a tool invented by man to measure distances. There is no great clock tower, which regulates the universe. Of course to justify the big bang theory there would have to be time, but that's a whole different topic.

  • @Carpathian2010 you just said exactly the same thing as I did? lol....

  • Did he just use words dimension and universe interchangeably? I hope it was just a rhetorical mistake on his part. We mathematics do not take kindly to misusing well defined terms.

  • Why didnt they teach this in jr high???

  • WTF ! I just smoked a bowl and watched this shit, now i'm TRIPPING OUT!!

  • Woah Woah, I thought moving to a new planet would be hard for humans one day but now we may have to travel universes way, way into future, Challenge Accepted

  • It's so sad I won't live forever and watch the progress of sience and the human race!

  • @123Magick123 Right? Although at the end of my life, I do hope this will be my only regret.

  • Professor Kaku please do cough ;)

  • hey this is gonna be sound too far fetched, but isnt ghost, spirit, jin or basicly astral creature live on their own universe or world, but somehow they can travel to our world back and forth as they want?..why scientis didnt try comunicate or study about astral world and maybe they have the answers wee all looking for..

  • string theory is horseshit

it makes just as much sense as a magical sky wizard snapping his fingers and making everything. quit acting like you fucking know everything kaku. no matter how much you test, how much you theorize, how much bullshit you make up off the top of your head and claim is "supported by einsteins equations" you cant prove shit, your just as bad as the christians and their shit book everything magically written down. we will never know what happened- stop pretending you do

  • @JaCkMiChEaLs0n Who da faq are you anyway? Are you like Einstein's student?

  • @starkk19 im nobody... and so are you... and so is kaku. it doesnt matter how much shit we do- unless we can turn back time we will never no for sure what happen. as far as im concerned people like him who do nothing but write on a chalkboard all day and come up with these crazy abstract unproovable theories and go around spreading it like fact are just as bad as the religious people and their stupid books

  • @JaCkMiChEaLs0n Theories promise no salvation, sorry to make you disappointed.

  • @SamerAjouri neither do books written by people who thought the earth was flat

  • @JaCkMiChEaLs0n come on, the bible and the qoran both promise heavens in the sky, who are we kidding?

  • @SamerAjouri your right that makes so much more sense then science. who arewe to think for ourselves instead of beleiving in magic and zombies. of course we were designed by a man in the sky who is so powerful he has existed forever in a complete paradox of an existance.

forgive my imputence, i should go confess what i have done to a pedophile in a fancy building

  • @JaCkMiChEaLs0n now that was strange!

  • @SamerAjouri lol your fucking nuts. i love it. XD

  • @JaCkMiChEaLs0n I love you, no homo, do you happen to enjoy the musings of Ayn Rand? Serious question.

  • @TheOneandOnlyXIII this is my first time hearing of her. just went to wikipedia and looked at her thing for a minute, i dont really like reading novels or playwrites- but objectivism seems interesting, i'll go read the rest of the article on when im done writing later if i have time.

  • @JaCkMiChEaLs0n She is not that great as many people say. Her objectivism is basically just violent opposition to Cold-war era enforced colectivism. She tends to deny global consequences of actions and disregard existence of violence. Still there are many people who follow the cult of ojectivism with zealous fervor. Skepticism 4 Lyfe, bro.

  • @Mlokokvok true. & while i do agree with the basic concept of objectivism i found that most of it was a bit too 'surreal' for my tastes, but still it is all a whole lot better than collectivism. anybody who takes any philosophy, theism, or even theory too seriously is a cult in my book. a good friend of mine was recently brainwashed into a jesus cult and is really bad. pretty much all he does is sit around & read scripture & post about how jesus is the only thing that matters in life.

  • @Mlokokvok i cant really be attributed to any single philosophy, political group, or anti-theism theory- because frankly i dont give enough of a shit to care. arguing politics or religion is pointless, & doesnt matter. im skeptical about everything. when you consider how much bullshit is out there trying to classify yourself into one of them just seems stupid- arrogantly thinking YOU found the right one. sure they probably have a term for what I am, but im not going to go look for it

  • @JaCkMiChEaLs0n That kinda does classify you as skepticist. But I agree that branding is unwarranted in most cases and harmful when it comes to epistemological beliefs.

  • @Mlokokvok Many follow the cult, but she has similar views in some areas to mine. That's one of the main reasons I even bothered to check it out after a buddy of mine said I sounded like her when ranting once. And skepticism for life, no. Skepticism is for those that can't make up their minds one way or another, or are to lazy to do so. Look at the facts and theories, or follow your faith, and make up your mind what you believe. Living in constant indecision just isn't worth it.

  • @TheOneandOnlyXIII a lot of people view skepticism or agnosticism as 'people who cant make up their minds' - when in actuality a lot of us are just people who dont buy into either side of the argument. I dont believe in any form of theism, think evolution has it mostly nailed down- but as far as 'the beginning' scientists dont have nearly the evidence to say they 'know' what happened. science isnt perfect- hell we just found out that every textbook on the human brain is wrong!

  • @TheOneandOnlyXIII every philosophy or religion or group has its merits but for a lot of them you have to cherry pick the good bits out. Objectivism has good points, and there are alot of bits that absolutely overlap with my own philosophy- but as you said there is a lot of it that is a bit too extreme. Christianity has some good morals- but most of its just common sense stuff that you shouldnt need to be told in the first place. I believe what I believe- its that simple

  • @TheOneandOnlyXIII philosophy and the like are certainly interesting. regardless of if you agree with them or not, there are certainly bits from each one you can relate to or take to heart- even the most hardcore republican has a couple things theyre liberal on, and vice versa.

people need to quit taking everything so seriously- our religion and philosophy dont matter that much in everyday life, when your at work, or school, or the store- in the end it just doesnt matter.
