Looking at the heats and semis it occurred to me if Coe had fallen they would have said he would have done the double (cast iron they would have said)
arrisippy you have some awesome videos, I'm curious why there are barely any videos of Wes santee? he was a huge competitor for the sub four mile so why aren't there any videos?
@linglingjr I've seen one short clip of him attempting a mile WR between Bannister and Landy's first sub fours, which he obviously missed. Not sure why there isn't more footage of him about. Most of the sports reports back then were pre TV and therefore recorded for heavily edited cinema news clips. Perhaps the US news reels weren't kept for posterity as one would hope,or maybe they're still sitting in an archive somewhere? Glad you like the videos! Steve
sincere thanks arrisippy, seeing this on youtube is like throwing on an old pair of jeans and finding 20 quid in the pocket....it was only within the last few months that the FULL 800m final was posted, there's so much more here. when i first heard ovett say "he wanted to go home" after this final i thought it was sour grapes but it fits with what you see, he looks so focussed/single-minded throughout each race then seems relaxed during the interview, who knows?? 2 legends all the same!
@ollie705 thanks for the kind words...you're right'....took me hours this, one and my original cut ended up at nearly half an hour! I'd like to do similar with the Moscow 1500's,but it'll have to wait till I have a few spare hours! Cheers!
how lucky we were to have ovett and coe.....the best of the best thank you for so good and giveing us all so much
