You can stop the recording and restart it, but it will be 2 separate MPEG-4 files. You can then add this together while editing, such as in iMovie.

I have that problem, too, but I just convert the video files to WMV using "Any Video Converter" and then I can import to Windows Movie Maker.

The Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 is different in style, as well as video and still image quality and all other different types of specifications. The still image and video quality are less than the traditional design Just wanted to run that by you! :)

depends on what memory card you have and what resolution your recording in. 4 gb would get u 1 hr 20 mins in 1080p and like 2.5 hrs in 720p.

so if u have a 2gb, its roughly 40 mins and so on.

16gb, the highest memory card you can get in pro duo, will get you 5 hrs in 1080p

ive been looking at the ultraHD and it has great image quality and colors, but the image stability is just horrible in my opinion. Like you really cant move the camera at all. I "think" the colors on the webbie are a little less vibrant but the image stability appears to be much better to me. So I think i would get the webbie but i cant say for sure cause i have neither of them

Got a question. Can you get a decent quality 8X10" print with the 5MP still photos or should we just stick with 5X7 or smaller?

I could sharpen em a bit w Photoshop, if necessary, but I know these vidcams aren't as good as a dedicated DSLR for still photo taking. Still, I'd like to have something that can do both reasonably well on vacation if I don't have much room for gear in carry on bags.

I think you could get a decent 8x10 with this cam. But I haven't really printed any photos from the webbie in professional quality (like ordering prints from shutterfly.) Of course, it wouldn't be the same as some fancy 12 MP camera with all the image sensors and steady shot. I have noticed that you have to have a very steady hand, as the webbie doesn't have super steady shot or anything like that, to get clear photos.

Thanks for the reply. I make my own prints with PS & an Epson printer. I know the printer can do a good job, but wasn't sure about the Sony Webbie.

To avoid the blurring I guess you'd need to use the tripod for most still shots you might want to take. Or just exhale & hold your breath right before taking the shot. I know it can't replace a 12MP camera, but was wondering how well it could do in a pinch. Thanks.

The 2 downsides I see with this are:

1. The too-easy-to-lose rubber lens cap and

2. No HDMI port. That would be ideal to connect camera directly to an HDTV for very best video quality or to a late model computer with HDMI. But I guess the decision to leave that out was a cost saving measure to get this thing in at a very low price, which is understandable.

I'm pretty sure the flower/mountain thing you mentioned is to configure the focus. Flower for close-ups and mountain for wide shots :)
