b/c swing music is no longer part of our culture or being made now. the dancing was a response to that style of music.  there is a lot of underground styles of dance now though that are just as or even more amazing but they involve other styles of music - though they arent partner dances...

well there are occasional come backs of swing music found in pop music (eg. Candy Man) and there are still plenty of NeoSwing (modern swing) bands around.
