  • Oh, John Darnielle, I never know exactly what you are trying to say. And this is why I love you.

  • Play the song Get your freak on by Missy Elliot then grab hold of the circle that tells you what length of the video you are at. Move your mouse side to side and you can make it look like he is rapping to the song almost perfectly! It's hilarious!

  • was he, or was'nt he at the time a practicing catholic? I read a newer interview where says he's not, not that it matters of course, I just find it's interesting.

  • Dear God, he's not only a great artist but has great taste. I thought I was the only non-metalhead to adore that Jesu record.

  • John Darnielle IS a metalhead. Metal has been his favorite genre since he was 15 years old.

  • "We're All Alone" was a big hit for Rita Coolidge, not Anne Murray.

  • he friggin sounds like christopher walken at 1:20

  • LOL SO AGREE :)

  • miss music plus, miss working at tower. J.D. is the best!

  • Jesu, fuck yeah!

  • we have the same troublesome hair swoop!

  • probably the most attractive man ever

  • need more people like this in the world. of course not the same. but just good people. though we all have are evil. people these day becoming nothing but.

  • Haha, come on, I am a huge John Darnielle fan, but I thought he looked like Keanu reeves.

  • I adore this man. Such a fantastic song writer and a wonderful person as well.

  • HE MENTIONED FUCKING JESU! YEEEES!

  • was that a dio record he pulled out a the start?! \m/

  • He is sooo amazing.

  • Wow he is awesome.

You would expect from his music that he would be a lot more.... dysfunctional i guess.

Kinda in the same way as Isaac Brock.

But he's a really cool person.

Not to say Isaac isn't though.

  • Well I wouldn't say that so much, obviously he is kind of dysfunctional expressing his ideas/emotions via monologues- therefore he probably finds a better outlet through music.

    Yaknow?

I do adore him as well. His music... wow.

  • What's the book?

  • the book is oedipus rex, which was originally one of sophocles's plays. it is very well-known in greek mythology.

  • @abbiebruins I actually think it's Oedipus at Colonos, a sequel to the more well-known one.
