man that is so badass. Especially how he was talking about how a lot more money gets put back in to help with the advancing of the technology. What sort of education do people have who work developing (or maintaining) these vehicles?
it has a lithium ion battery about the size of an electric forklift battery and a drive motor considerably better than a forklift unit. 50kWhr battery, 250 hp motor. rather nice piece of work. dont know how far it will go at 100 mph, but it does have a 250 mi range.
how does the electic engine work anyway? its electical, and how does it get the electricity supply in the car? but its amazin to hear that it can speed up from 0 to 60mph in 4 secs..oOo... and its noise free...what a dream car...
A1s19, this car doesn't use a tesla coil, Tesla is just a name of the car and the company, TeslaMotors. The next 100 cars built should cost around $100,000.00. Batteries used in the car are Lithium-ion.
If they're getting a top speed of 135mph and a range of 250 miles, they must be using dilithium crystals for power. Anyone who has done any research regarding EVs will know that those numbers alone are staggering - maybe even revolutionary. My questions are:
1. Has anyone outside of Tesla verified these figures?
2. What battery technology is used?
3. Is this car available for sale, or just a "concept"?
tesla motors and lotus will begin production next year, they say the price its between 80k-100k and they already have lots of orders. This could be the oil killer and also the end of lots of stupid wars
This is exactly my point. There's a prototype, but otherwise the car is currently unattainable. I'm just saying that the performance and range numbers are suspiciously rosy. The cost is also quite high. I still want to see more than one, and have the range and performance verified.
I think this is a turning point in history. If the price of an electric car with this kind of performance drops down to where the average person can afford one, why would anyone want a gas powered vehicle, plus no more high priced gas :)
Finally!

The car is $92,000, all sold out this year. Plans on making progressively less expensive models, one for $49,000 another for $30,000 - Not $400,000.
