Reminds me of the Iron Curtain... o_o The way I see it, Kaito was born after WWII (in russia/somewhere closer to the border) and wonders what the rest of the world (aka europe) is like. When his father dies, he leaves behind research forbidden by the (communist) government about a radio receiving outside transmissions and a robot (spy?). Kaito works on it himself, and when it's finished, he takes it to the wall and it escapes. He waits for its return.

the story is that kaito is living in a city closed off from the world due to some war that happened a long time ago. when he finds out his father died, he finds an old radio and a robot that was built by his father. kaito takes the robot to the city's wall, and the robot flies away on a mission to reconnect the city with the rest of the world.
