  • btw.. its not "swiss tool" its swedish firestarter.. sweden is sweden, swiss is short for swizerland..

  • ..no wonder ya need all those firesteels.. chopping them with a huge knife.. slamming them on a rock.. if you actually spent the time to learn the correct way of using them you would only need one and it would last ya for years lol

  • you forgot fresnel lens

  • How come the surface there didn't start on fire if those were such good tools?

  • didnt know your spose to use the blade for a striker. good to know.

  • Lol, have you ever actually done this for real, and not just for some youtube-video in the backyard? I know (a lot) more than you, that's pretty obvious... End of discussion. (and replying)

  • @Fuse7000

you know when you are outmatched

  • @Fuse7000 ooooh your cool. your saying your better at making fire. Bravo Bravo.

  • Goddamn, those are some retarded techniques...

  • @Fuse7000

nope, you just don't know the only right way to start a fire

  • slanted rock... not the best place for review.

  • What was in that foil pack? you never mentioned it.

  • Use dryer lint it makes really good tinder

  • What knife is that?

  • @3:52 LOL you said it makes you look like an idiot, it actually didn't. I use the magnesium fire starter and when I get ready to go outdoors, my first stop is the local laundrymat. Now how stupid do you think I look when I walk in there with a zip lock bag and ask the attendant for some dryer link? (link is a good tinder, burns super fast) I get weird looks but it's cheap, lite and can be preesed airtight.

  • nice emerson

  • when u said sol kit i thought u ment shit out of luck kit!!!! lol

  • that second match is the king of all matches lol if they made them in "strike anywhere" style that would be boss.. but ill still stick with my metal match :)

  • gas, match and flint....bottom line is the TINDER. All the techno crap.... basic is still flint and stone with TINDER. Get it??!! God vid though.

  • do not use the blade to strike the flint the back of the knife works great

  • do not use the blade to strike the flint the back of the knife works great

  • dont strike the flint with the blade use the back of the knife it wont dull it

  • Is this the guy from the gunwebsites videos? I swear this is his voice/accent... I love his reviews.

  • @PianoKammy

this is our 'other' channel for all the non-gun stuff we do

  • what about a fresno lens ?

  • What about ChemFire Capsules?

  • You should change the title of this vid to "How to fuck up your knife's edge with a fire steel".

  • You must have a twin brother on gunwebsite, lol

  • i like your knife xD

  • cringing every time he scrapes the knife edge

  • ugh, i'm cringing every time you mash up your knife edge.

use the back of the knife please.

in a real survival situation, it's so important to save your edge, so making yourself use the back of the blade (even though it doesn't work as well) is a good habit.

    nice vid though

  • we've got a really tilted rock...

  • where did you get the pushy thing that makes sparks the black one plzz reply i need one

  • the card gives bigger sparks

  • your not gently with your tools

your eventually going to break them

just do it slow trust me ittl spark

  • u shouldnt use the blade edge to spark, use a bad knife or the non-blade side

  • doesn't sol mean shit out of luck

  • dude u treat ur stuff like crap xD

  • id like to light that magnesium with a nice blowtorch put some sunglasses on and watch it burn... the blast match is raping the ground...

  • kinfes to big for your firestreel

  • where can i find that small scout fire steel?

  • wow, that was very poor skills when it came to the magnesium firestarter it clearly tells you not to strike against it your supposed to make a scraping notion instead.

  • I loved the last 2 they're the perfect survival tools, you don't need a striker or a knife, and the spark is concentrated on 1 place

  • Don't wreck your knife by sliding the flint on the blade!, slide it on the flat side!

  • You're randomly throwing sparks around because of your technique. Hold the knife or striker steady and strike the flint against it. That way the sparks are produced in the same place and are easily controlled and aimed.

  • @ gamesbok

I agree, this is a good example of why what might seem like an obvious tool, or task still requires some practice a head of time so you are not 'learning' durring a real emergency

  • @gamesbok ya im with you to you need to learn how to use them befor you go out in or make a video and if using 2 hand striker then striker needs to be touching the tinder then strike

  • Ok, peaople keep saying that when a bic gets wet it won't liightl. Simply not true! I can put a bic in a cup of water overnight (pobably much longer) take it out and carefully dry the striker wheel whith my t shrt and light it right up with no problem! I always carry three methods for lighting a fire!! And yes, one is a bic.

  • loved the videos, but ... please! whats knife is that? thank you

  • ahh one of my favorite fixed blades the Benchmade 155 SBK-ADC

  • he thanks for showing me the selection

  • what is good for tinder is shredded paper the flame is about 2 ft when you drop it in and it deosnt

  • Lol. Do you guys hear the guy moaning in the back ground?

  • that is on your end, LOL

  • @kjlindgren I'll tell your mother that we should be a bit quieter next time.

  • @NarutoFireFox84 three weeks later and that was still lame

  • @ericsyutubeaccount Lame? Yes. Immature? Yes. Shut that guy up? You're damn right it did.

  • @NarutoFireFox84 considering they probably just didnt want to reply to a lame generic comment from a year later, i dont think it did

  • @ericsyutubeaccount Maybe so, but who are you to question what I do? Do you think highly of yourself?

  • @ericsyutubeaccount Now quit being immature and infesting GearBuyersGuide with our discussion. Either shut up about it or we can finish it in PM's.

  • @NarutoFireFox84 i dont feel like pming a 10 year old

  • @ericsyutubeaccount Ahahahaha.

  • @NarutoFireFox84

    He's the immature one now?

  • @zanuha I never said I wasn't. I'm merely stating that GearBuyersGuide probably doesn't want this on his video.

  • when your using the blastmatch its better to keep the flint on your surface, and do a firm some what slow push.

  • Also, when using a bare flint rod, don't use the blade of your knife. it will dull the blade and thats not good. Use the back of the knife. It works just as well!

  • you are right, and it felt like nails on a chalkboard when I did it..

  • i hate nails on a chalkboard.... :(

  • i prefer to buy a un-cut key from key-smiths and then at home, i file a very dull blade on it and i just us tha to strike it.

  • thats a really class idea man.

  • the "smaller blastmatch" is called a sparkie

  • hey just a question.........

for how long does a flint in the magnesium fire starter last?

in terms of the no. of times you use it???????

please reply fast cuz i am leaving for this adventure trip in a few hours ...

  • they work amny many many times.. Multiple trips

Worth it's weight in fie.. er gold

  • the fancier match = minirocket!

  • true I've made them into rockets too

  • do they go..

    PEW?

  • Hey is that a benchmade persiardo?

  • Yes, a great knife

  • Could you do a review on the Light my Fire, Firefork?

  • Sure, I've heard of their forks.. but not the firefork, I'll look that up and try to get one. Thanks for the heads up

  • OK thanks

  • yeah that one, cut the side of a match box off and find a little tube and some matches, put it all in the tube and you're done

  • Good point, look for a review with some 'home made' gear in the future

  • nice tools and reviews!

you can make that first match tool at home

  • Thanks, do you mean the tube with matches and a protected strike surface?

  • Thank you, a nice review. Well worth the watch.

  • thanks

  • thanks, it was literally the first time I used it, after a bit of practice it does work more consistantly

  • u hit that blast match too aggresivly do it slower
