I'm a huge Linux advocate, but the only thing to do with a Cloudbook is to put bare bones Windows XP on it and surf the web with Google Chrome. I even added Shutdown and Reboot buttons to the desktop so I don't have to risk clicking on the start menu and freezing the machine. Suffice it to say, it's not our main computer - just something my girlfriend and I wanted to play with.
Can you install Ubuntu on this thing? I was thinking about getting one but I don't want gOS. Also will I need an external DVD Drive if I want to install it?
Wow SLOW!I counted 1.5 min to logon screen.I wanted this for the 30gb HDD but me thinks maybe i should get SSD drive instead(eeepc).Questions: How much RAM?Has boot times improved? Will u go to XP(maybe faster?)?How fast is it out of hibernation? Now that u used it,would you buy again?....THANKS!!
the ram is 512 MB DDR2 533MHz SDRAM, the boot times have remained the same, some times there is some problem and i have to restart the system. I bought the system for to Learn and know about Linux, but if i don't like it I will switch..Just need to find a copy of XP. It snaps back from hibernation quickly. Right now I probably would buy it again but lets give that a couple of months.

Everex has got to be one of the worst companies. I learned the hard way with the XT5000.

An excellent real world demonstration of the cloudbook. Yeah its really as bad as it looks.
Boot times take you back to 1993 and never quite bring you back to 2k8.
VIA chipsets are a long way from being linux friendly even though they are shipping them out on linux oem iron.
Avoid Everex, they need to learn who butters their bread before they deserve any more patrons
