if you look back to the first 2 pages of comments everyone is okay with the singing. only when one opinionated commenter says the vocals suck everyone suddenly jumps on the bandwagon. Yes the screaming sucks. However, his vocals ARE solid, and after the first chorus he tones down the screaming a little bit. Maybe he got hoarse. If he just toned the retarded screaming down a little he would be good.

When you start out doing covers you try to sound as much as possible like the original. As you get more comfortable you do develop your own style. I have naturally "clean" vocals and sound crap trying to do it any other way (annoying considering I'm a metal fan!), so I've reworked songs I've covered slightly to account for that.

Metallica always had a balance - think back to Fade to Black, Unforgiven etc... but that's just the same guy singing in a different style. Opeth is an even better example - they switch between with frequency. What I was meaning is, another vocalist doing a cover of the song, who may have different vocal characteristics.

Very hard to remember lyrics live under pressure while doing two things at once - I can attest to that! I've seen several much more accomplished musicians (as in touring bands you'd have heard of) who have bluffed some lyric lines in cover versions. Basically who cares as long as it sounds good :)

Pretty damn good cover, just work on those screams. I know its hard to reach those high notes when singing and playing guitar at the same time. I dont think it would hurt anything to try singing it an octave lower with a normal voice. Thats what I do usually

If you did, you would know that sometimes it is in fact hard to reach certain notes while playing guitar, because you are also trying to focus on the guitar playing as well as the singing. First off, I have been playing music for over 13 years. I played drums, guitar, bass, and vocals in many different bands, and have recorded many songs with different musicians. You must still be in the beginning stages of music if you let guitar playing effect your vocal range. They are two separate instruments that you are trying to play at the same time. That is like saying you cant play higher notes on the guitar when you sing because you cannot focus on them at the same time. ..moron.
