@pvtdangles Go do some researching before coment stupid things, at that time it was a security barrier to slow down car before it hits tha walls, and no to decaptitae anyone, it never happend!
If anyone is interested about buying f1 dvds from me, then reply by clicking on my name. Then 'send message'. I sell basically every grand prix race from 1978 to 2008. Also, lots of unseen 1960's/70s world feed races that were never seen in the UK and many other countries. For example, I have the 1975 Nurburgring (German) grand prix and many others that were never seen on British tv, before 1978. 1978 is on 17 dvds, so you can understand what range of footage I have.
shocking. what is da idea of the poles and the fencing. r dey meant to stop a car. Then when Patrese crosses the road, there is people talking to him about 2 feet from the track. Scary shit
Catch fencing was the normal means of slowing errant cars back then. Before that it was straw bales or nothing! It was also normal for photographers and officials to stand on the inside of slow corners.
In those times drives could almost collect some vegetables after a crash, given the amount of "bush" around them! Incredible.

fatboy69s 2 years ago
@fatboy69s The Fan Car was only used at Anderstorp before it was banned, I think.
TheKardiacKid 1 year ago
@TheKardiacKid Lauda won the race with more than 30 seconds. You are right, it was banned after that race, having completed only one GP.

Thank god catch fencing has gone!!!
mowerman437 2 years ago
it is an eternal miracle that drivers walk away after a crash not thinking the next driver might fuck up the same way and mow him down.
Brainman94 2 years ago
It was indeed Patrese, not Hunt he was starting in Wolf, but withdrew up to this point in the season.
