@etet1111 any new plane type that an airline uses on its first revenue flight is given the traditional water canon send offf by the fire dept, bit like a christening of the plane, done for good luck. this done all over the world
@BlackParis86 because the 747 pilots are flying the 747's. Furthermore, it is essential that each airways have some surplus pilots in case of emergency, i.e a pilot fall's ill, retire's, leaves or goes on strike etc.
@5Oblivion to boost their green credentials.... a330 is much more efficient than 777. also virgin atlantic are swaying more towards twin airliners as apposed to the four engined beasts. they cancelled the order of the a380's and instead opted for two a340-500's and a fleet of 787's to replace the ageing 744's. i know the a340-500 is four engined but it has the longest range of all passenger planes making it more economical and efficient.
@dash8q400sou I'd say you're right! Looks like he rotated far too quickly but then again, there was no tail strike so I guess it was fine! Still, such a beautiful takeoff by a beautiful aircraft!
Bloody airports and commercial planes - we should have moved away from planes by now - inefficient, under-taxed rubbish that they are!

According to flightradar24 and the noticeable rumble of a 747-400, Virgin is using both their 1995 747-400 and A330 on the orlando route.

So they'll be using the A330 on the MAN-LAS route?
Seanie737 10 months ago
So they're using the A330 on the MAN to VEGAS route? Also, why recruit new pilots? Can't you just train the pilots of the 747 to fly the A330...

bangerbengali 10 months ago
@bangerbengali they had no twin engine airlines before a330 operating from the uk. virgin australia have a couple of 777-300's but that about it.
