Poland is located in Central Europe and culturally belongs to Western Europe -> Roman Catholicism, latin alphabet, even width of railways. During the Iron Curtain era 'the well-known West' used to teach at schools that Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary are the East of Europe because they could not admit that they had sold in Yalta part of western culture under the eastarn wing.

I thought that Poland was an Eastern European country because when I studied in my school in Spain , my teachers told me that Poland was an Eastern European country and Spain was a Southern European, even I bought a Lonely Planet book about Eastern European countries in Warsaw and Poland is added like an Eastern European country.......
To be honest this is not the first time that I heard your theory.....
geographically poland lies in central europe, we were called eastern because we were once a soviet satellite country, since communistic rule was overthrown and we joined such structures as EU, NATO and OECD we should not be called eastern anymore
