Imagine another dimension where Lucas hadn't tinkered with the films, and the fanboys complained that the films bore no continuity to each other. U guys are all fucking morons. It's George's story to do w/e the fuck he wants with. The CGI did NOT fuck up the prequels. The action is better, the lightsaber duels are better, the list goes on. Now, Lucas could have done more with the Original with CGI but oh fucking well. They are STILL an awesome and an irreplaceable part of my childhood that I will always cherish. Jesus Christ, you people need to get over yourselves and just enjoy the mindblowing gift that George Lucas gave to the world.
....ugh...bring back Lawrence Kazdan and Gary Kurtz. This schlub doesn't know how to produce his way out of a paper back and Lucas needs people to tell him when to not right retarded dialogue. If Irvin Kershner was still alive I'd say, nay, demand he should have directed.

We know where they all end up, thats not a solid logical reason to cut a good part of the movie out, having Hayden cut into the end of return of the jedi in ghost form, now that was as gay as it gets, i guess when you fall to the dark side of the force you get to be a younger looking ghost while the others are old who continued on the right path?

@hawkshead11 You're right. He created the initial idea and he can do what he wants. The fact that he can't seemingly create a consistent story thread through his own story does not make him a genius. That makes him retarded.
Hm. So after creating Jar-Jar, making C-3PO Vader's childhood toy, connecting Chewbacca to Yoda, and undermining the whole concept of the Force from the original trilogy, Lucas decided that this clip didn't help the story. While I agree, this guy just doesn't impress me as a "Master Storyteller" anymore. He's more like "Master Marketer for Fanservice".
George Lucas completely fucked up the prequels. It was an opportunity to do something brilliant.... but he fucked it. Doing everything with CGI, and making himself script writer and director.... he has no clue how to direct, no clue. He needed people around him to say "No". That's probably why he added No to Jedi and at the end of Sith, it was a word that he hadn't heard before and thought it sounded cool.
@nmcvicker03 I would try to recognize where my strengths were and realise what made the original trilogy work. Give the direction to someone who knows what they're doing, etc. I'm not saying I could make a better set of prequels. But I know there are things that I definitely wouldn't do. And George Lucas did royally fuck up the prequels.
@SethHesio fair enough. I respect your comment, and I do agree the prequels weren't even close to the originals but at some point people have to recognize that he is the creator of this and without him it wouldn't exist. He deserves credit and not to be bashed all the time, he does have true talent. "We are the music makers, the dreamers of the dreams" We hate on the people that create what we love too much sometimes and at some point people need to realize its not as easy as it looks.
@nmcvicker03 Right, but it's not as simple as that. He created Star Wars yes. But he didn't direct Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi. He didn't direct them, but he still went back and added nonsensical updates. And when the fans reacted badly, said they would like the originals to own. He didn't release them. I love the original films, but George Lucas refuses to play ball. He was the creator of these films, but we've given so much as fans, these films belong to culture.
@nmcvicker03 And George Lucas is a great ideas man. He knows that much. He's not a good director and he can't write screenplays. The original Star Wars A New Hope was saved in editing. according to a few sources George Lucas' original edit was terrible. So I think George Lucas deserves credit. but he has monetized and fucked around with this thing that everyone loves so much that it's perfectly logical to hate the bastard and hope he lets someone else with greater talents take over star wars.
Actually he's a great director & an awesome Idea man. He just needs help at writting screenplays. Or completely having someone else write it from his story. The problem that any of the Prequel Adventures have is not direction or plot or backdrop or overall story. That's fantastic actually! It's the nitty, gritty screenplay writting. Granted a better cut would help many of the Prequel's problems, but that's just my opinion.
@jayce79 He's not a great director. Watch the RedLetterMedia prequel reviews. Seriously I LOVE the original trilogy of Star Wars and was more than prepared to love the prequels, but they suck on many many levels.
@SethHesio Agreed. Confused Matthew has some amusing reviews on the prequels too. I pretended to like the prequels for the several years of going to see them, but I can't lie anymore. I can't even consider them as a legitamate addition to the original trilogy because, well... they don't legitimately add to the story, or even consistently relate to the original story. That's not anywhere near anything I'd call "Master Storytelling".
@ralphyetmore I really hope that some day... someone is allowed to make a proper set of prequels. Some films that are competently made, use the original Star Wars universe properly and actually work as films.. like the original trilogy did. The prequels are fucking awful.
@jayce79 "nitty, gritty screenplay writing"? That's the major part of storytelling. And his direction is ok, not great. He does not evoke a convincing perfomrance in his actors, nor can he create a coherent story thread without a LOT of help. That's not a great director.
And with the amount of legitimate commentary made about the very flawed and disappointing preqels, I highly doubt any amount of cutting would fix them.
Well that's certainly an opinion. And your allowed to have yours. And if people can't except a better cut or version of something down the road, simply because of to much fanboy chatter & commentary over the years. Well thats there problem.
@jayce79 Well, some of what I said was opinion. A lot of what I said about the inconsistencies in the screenplay and the story are a fact. And I think that your use of the term "fanboy" is incorrect. I think a "fanboy" is more apt to defend obviously flawed material, just because they happen to admire the person that it came from... whether or not that person cares about releasing poor material.
@ralphyetmore Nothing in what I said was defending poor material, just the opposite, I agree with a lotta what your expressing. But I think the main flaw was in the screen writting. Not the story or backdrop or directing. But directing the material. Still hold to that.
But your more than entitled to your views. And I was'nt calling you a fanboy but said, If fanboys cannot accept a better cut down the road simply because of too much whinny commentary throught the yrs, there loss.
@jayce79 I see you're just talking about the directing. However, a good director can make a good (or decent) film with a poor story and screenplay. Not only does Lucas not do this, but he fails at even the most basic function of a director. He does not focus on any main story line in the prequels, nor does he demand an emotive performance from his actors. Most all of these actors are great in other roles. They are not to blame for thier lackluster performances. Lucas is a poor director.
@SethHesio I completely agree with you, 100%!!! In ESB he put in all sort of scenes showing Vader getting back on board of a star destroyer as if we couldn't figure it out by ourselves. LAME!!!!
@KaiserReich98 The thing is... Episode 3 was better than Clones and Phantom Menace.. but I disagree with you, it wasn't really good. It still had the major flaws that the first two prequels had, it overused CGI, the script was awful, the acting was stilted, it was poorly directed and certain parts just didn't work. I'll go so far as agreeing that it was the best of the prequels, but given how lame the other two were, that's not saying much.
@SethHesio George Lucas has always been on the cutting edge of technology, he overused puppets and animatronics in the original trilogy(not a bad thing) and also overused CGI in the new trilogy(not bad either). The acting was actually very good save for Anakin and Padme, it was filmed pretty well compared to the other films, and I would say that the writing was just as cheesy as the original trilogy. Most others seem to agree with me that Episode 3 was on par with the original trilogy.
@KaiserReich98 Well he didn't direct Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi and comparing the use of puppets/ old fashioned special effects to using a green screen for LITERALLY EVERY SCENE in the prequels doesn't really work as an argument for George Lucas as a revolutionary film maker. The special effects work on the original trilogy is fantastic and used by competent directors, the prequels were another thing altogether..using green screen for everything made the films boring and sterile.
@KaiserReich98 Look up Red Letter Media... their dissection of the prequels is expansive and covers all of the problems that are inherent in the prequels.
@KaiserReich98 The acting... well if you have a bad script, and the concept has major faults from the outset then the actors have nothing to work with. Seriously I could write thousands upon thousands of words about the individual problems that the prequels have in terms of script, special effects, acting etc... but you should really look up RedLetterMedia because they have made three 70-80 minute film reviews of each of the prequels, and they do a damn good job of presenting all the flaws.
@SethHesio We were talking about the same thing a friend and I yesterday and the fact is George Lucas shouldn't have wrote or directed the movies. There were some good elements but the overall trilogy (episode 1 + 2 + 3) just stinks. Good potential poorly exploited. Why the hell would you reward a droid (r2d2 repairing the ship leaving Naboo in episode 1)? I mean the movies are full of this kind of nonsense. Clones had to be modeled after Boba Fett's father? Come on!!! Chewie knew Yoda?
Lucas arts team...A lesson if you please. NEVER LISTEN TO GEORGE AGAIN. The only man in film history who can turn the greatest franchise ever and turn it into a laughing stock.
Oh yeah, its a great scene. I just think it's one of those that is better outside the Saga for enjoyment. Rather than in the movie. It's such a hard decision cause it's so cool.
So many more I'd think would really benifit the movie and crank it up a few notches. Just my opinion.
@blodstainer The NOOOOOOO is in the blu ray of return of the jedi, when palpatine is lightninging luke and vader is thinking he's like... nooo... NOOOOO!!!!! then moves in to throw the emperor down, it ruins the scene
Lucas is a choade. His reasoning for not putting the Yoda Arrives on Dagobah scene in the movie was that "we know where he ends up"... WE KNOW WERE EVERYONE ENDS UP!!! He should have left the scene in. Goerge Lucas made shitty decisions starting with Return of the Jedi.
It's the dumbest reasoning ever. We may know where everyone ends up just like we know Anakin becomes Vader and all the Jedi (minus Obi-wan and Yoda) get killed but just like those moments, we don't know HOW they got there.
@manegex El productor dijo que estaría bueno incluirla en una "Edición Especial". Estaría bueno que directamente hagan versiones extendidas de las seis películas.
Imagine another dimension where Lucas hadn't tinkered with the films, and the fanboys complained that the films bore no continuity to each other. Darth Vader looked like a totally different bloke, Yoda looked like a f***ing muppet, Yoda was apparently Obi-wan's master when it was really Qui-Gon, Lightsabers would change colour on their own, The emperor had a massive facelift in episode V and then changed back in VI etc etc. Just shut up complaining, and let Lucas do what he wants with HIS films!

@jayce79 I agree I prefer the rebel subplot but the yoda thing's good though

Oh yeah, its a great scene. I just think it's one of those that is better outside the Saga for enjoyment. Rather than in the movie. It's such a hard decision cause it's so cool.
So many more I'd think would really benifit the movie and crank it up a few notches. Just my opinion.

@Gredran I haven't put myself into watching the remakes, but where did he put that? :S
blodstainer 4 weeks ago
@blodstainer The NOOOOOOO is in the blu ray of return of the jedi, when palpatine is lightninging luke and vader is thinking he's like... nooo... NOOOOO!!!!! then moves in to throw the emperor down, it ruins the scene

"as he's tinkering away with the revised version..."
Even Rick knew Lucas was going to change everything up every few years. Damn.

@Aeolis7
You're absolutely right.
It's the dumbest reasoning ever. We may know where everyone ends up just like we know Anakin becomes Vader and all the Jedi (minus Obi-wan and Yoda) get killed but just like those moments, we don't know HOW they got there.

esperemos que en la version bluray la incluya.. YESSS
manegex 1 year ago
@manegex El productor dijo que estaría bueno incluirla en una "Edición Especial". Estaría bueno que directamente hagan versiones extendidas de las seis películas.
