Imagine another dimension where Lucas hadn't tinkered with the films, and the fanboys complained that the films bore no continuity to each other. Darth Vader looked like a totally different bloke, Yoda looked like a f***ing muppet, Yoda was apparently Obi-wan's master when it was really Qui-Gon, Lightsabers would change colour on their own, The emperor had a massive facelift in episode V and then changed back in VI etc etc. Just shut up complaining, and let Lucas do what he wants with HIS films!

So after creating Jar-Jar, making C-3PO Vader's childhood toy, connecting Chewbacca to Yoda, and undermining the whole concept of the Force from the original trilogy, Lucas decided that this clip didn't help the story. George Lucas completely fucked up the prequels. It was an opportunity to do something brilliant.... but he fucked it. Doing everything with CGI, and making himself script writer and director.... he has no clue how to direct, no clue. He needed people around him to say "No". That's probably why he added No to Jedi and at the end of Sith, it was a word that he hadn't heard before and thought it sounded cool.

He didn't direct them, but he still went back and added nonsensical updates. And when the fans reacted badly, said they would like the originals to own. He didn't release them. I love the original films, but George Lucas refuses to play ball. He was the creator of these films, but we've given so much as fans, these films belong to culture.

The original Star Wars A New Hope was saved in editing. according to a few sources George Lucas' original edit was terrible. Actually he's a great director & an awesome Idea man. He just needs help at writting screenplays. Or completely having someone else write it from his story. The problem that any of the Prequel Adventures have is not direction or plot or backdrop or overall story. That's fantastic actually! It's the nitty, gritty screenplay writting. Granted a better cut would help many of the Prequel's problems, but that's just my opinion.

I can't even consider them as a legitamate addition to the original trilogy because, well... they don't legitimately add to the story, or even consistently relate to the original story. That's not anywhere near anything I'd call "Master Storytelling".

I think a "fanboy" is more apt to defend obviously flawed material, just because they happen to admire the person that it came from... whether or not that person cares about releasing poor material.

@jayce79 I see you're just talking about the directing. However, a good director can make a good (or decent) film with a poor story and screenplay. Not only does Lucas not do this, but he fails at even the most basic function of a director. He does not focus on any main story line in the prequels, nor does he demand an emotive performance from his actors. Most all of these actors are great in other roles. They are not to blame for thier lackluster performances. Lucas is a poor director.

It still had the major flaws that the first two prequels had, it overused CGI, the script was awful, the acting was stilted, it was poorly directed and certain parts just didn't work. I'll go so far as agreeing that it was the best of the prequels, but given how lame the other two were, that's not saying much.

@SethHesio George Lucas has always been on the cutting edge of technology, he overused puppets and animatronics in the original trilogy(not a bad thing) and also overused CGI in the new trilogy(not bad either). The acting was actually very good save for Anakin and Padme, it was filmed pretty well compared to the other films,and I would say that the writing was just as cheesy as the original trilogy. Most others seem to agree with me that Episode 3 was on par with the original trilogy.

@KaiserReich98 Well he didn't direct Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi and comparing the use of puppets/ old fashioned special effects to using a green screen for LITERALLY EVERY SCENE in the prequels doesn't really work as an argument for George Lucas as a revolutionary film maker. The special effects work on the original trilogy is fantastic and used by competent directors, the prequels were another thing altogether..using green screen for everything made the films boring and sterile.

Seriously I could write thousands upon thousands of words about the individual problems that the prequels have in terms of script, special effects, acting etc... but you should really look up RedLetterMedia because they have made three 70-80 minute film reviews of each of the prequels, and they do a damn good job of presenting all the flaws.
