the air box is made so no water can get in even though it lacks a snorkel. Just limited time to get it back above water. It's fairly impressive but our CR-V's are a different beats entirely. It's comparable to (imagine this) a cross between a civic and a jeep. I have mine regularly doing things others would gape at. It was definitely designed to venture off road. Maybe not climb rocks at Moab, but it can even pull even that off with skill.
