What makes me think of this song is the tragic moment of 9/11. The reason is that "Sing, Be, Live, See / This dark stormy hour, / The wind, it stirs. / The scorched Earth cries out in vain". This section is when the North Tower was hit. "Oh war and power, you blind and blur. The torn heart cries out in pain". This makes me think that the plane was just a blur (first one). "But music and singing have been my refuge, / and music and singing shall be my light." This is what some people went to for
this is honestly the best high school choir i have ever heard. in my choir we try,but we arent as good as this, you guys are amazing. i couldnt beleive you were high school students. you really brought out the emtionally aspect of this song and its meaning. thanks for doing this peice so well, much kodos :)
So today was my concert choir's first rehearsal this year. And in private, I asked my director what the 15 pieces he was considering were. And this was one. And man, this is fucking beautiful, but alas, he said it may just be above most of our singer's level of skill. Really hoping we get to do this.
I absolutely love this song with all my being, I am so glad we are doing it in choir. I'm a bass, and I love singing all those low notes and everything the song itself is aboslutely stunning.
I thank you for uploading this. My High School choir is singing this for a first concert of the year. This a great choir I really can not believe they are high school! This song means a lot to me.In the song where it's like "Music and singing have been my refuge and music and singing shall be my light." I want that tattooed on my arm. To remind me that music is always going to be there even in hard time. Which is basically the meaning of this song.
the resonance in some parts is breathtaking... 2:22. absolutely beautiful. 5 stars to the whole performance, and also just to the song itself. amazing piece. i'm very sad to say i was a year too late to preform this song with my choir. i did hear it though and i've never been able to forget it....
Have you ever heard music that was so good that you wanted to cry? I don't know how Frank Tichelli did it, but he created a piece of music that will bring tears to people's eyes, as well as open their eyes to the current state of our world. The lyrics alone can touch someone, but add the clashing, yet melodic and powerful harmonies that he created into the mix, and it's spine chilling. This is a piece to add to any repertoire. I have to learned to Sing, Be, Live and See... Peace.
This is so amazing, and my school's upperclassmen choir sang this at last weekends contest in New York. They were invited to the Gold Ceremony in two years. I wouldn't doubt that this choir would win exactly that. Astonishing voices, and well done.
Oh my goodness.. I absolutely love the acoustics.. I wish we could have sung this song here. My high school's aCappella Choir sang this last year. This is beautiful; kudos to the choir, it's an extremely difficult song.
we recently perfomed this for an all county chorus performance and i WISH we could've sounded like that :) I mean we sounded pretty good, but y'all dynamics were PERFECT
This is the most beautiful song I've heard the choir perform. Tears couldn't help but start flowing. The blend and roundness of the sound is beyond perfect. Everytime I listen to the choir I'm speechless, but this song is utterly amazing.
we did this as a Choral/Concert Band piece my junior year of HS...turned out fabulously.
