I was there that night in the first couple rows, Thanksgiving night I believe. Ripley's was a small place, just a a bar really, couldn't have held more than a hundred or so people.
I got to go backstage after and meet them, tried to get a kiss from Annie, I remember she only let me kiss her cheek
She's about 5 foot tall, had to bend way down. Jon Camp's a short guy too.
This show was broadcast live on WIOQ radio during the Ed Sciaky days...
Winter, you just brought me back brother... Funny how Phila, and Ed (RIP) in particular, got many of the prog-rock giants know.. Ripley's was a great great place.. I saw Alan Holdsworth there and met backstage... Never saw Renna live but always enjoyed their orchestration of English folk... Sort of more like Genesis than Yes.. Especially this piece.
I saw Renaissance 27 times or more. Got to be friends with Annie Haslam. Went back stage a lot of times even brought my mom with me on there last concert in NJ. I told her she last year to come back to NYC.
Did you see them at the old Academy of Music with Andy Powell reprising his lead on "Ashes are Burning"? I think the promoter's last name was Stein, and he played grand piano in tux and tails, with Tout on organ.
She sure is creative with clothes! (she used to design fashion too) I always thought of her wearing long flowing dresses (and when I wear those kind of dress I say it's an Annie Haslam dress!)
I must say I love Annie's Logan's Run outfit. She wears it well.
