  • Even though I could never afford these snares, I always watch these videos.

  • 0:39 to skip bla bla bla.

  • The price tag on it reads $599. Wow.

  • How the hell do you guys tune your snare drums?! TEACH ME! Please make a video tutorial with "how to tune snare drum" - your snares always sounds like a dream!

  • @JonesSs1993 Thanks! Most of the drums have the bottom tuned up pretty high and will stay that way with all the different tunings. Then the top is tuned with equal tension on all the lugs.

    Hope this is helpful!

    Tony

  • @JonesSs1993 - We've got a new video up detailing how we tune the drums for the videos. Go to our Channel page, it should be the main video there!

  • Hi , can u tell me wich snare u use in the intro?.

  • @ricardoieci The snare in the intro is a Dunnett 6.5x14 Stainless Steel.... Killer drum!!

    Tony

  • yessss that's how i want my snare to sound.

  • even with a drum that big, the "lower tuning" still sounds like a piccolo

  • @calebrosazza Actually, that's largely due to the miking techniques that Shane uses.

  • Stfu and play it.

  • Nice demo. Very helpful to demonstrate the various tunings. It seemed to "choke off" a bit on the hight end. Low and medium was sweet. Nice drum.

  • on lower tunings how do u tune your reso, thanks.

  • none can beat an 8x13 snare drum

  • i've played for about 15 years and i have played a variety of different kits with different woods and dimensions. GRETSCH is by far, the best snare manufacturer that I've come across. very nice snare here. i'll be watching your ebay store closely.

  • the high tuning sounds great i prefer high tuning. i think it sounds nice.

  • I have owned one since new in 1985 - Love this drum!

  • oops I hit "dislike" by mistake -- because of themes installed on computer (there's a "like" in a box with blank box next to it. the blank box is the "dislike" button. I apologize. This drum has nothing unlikable about it.

  • This snare is KILLER! Never heard such a great low-tuned snare in my life!

  • I good snare is only a good snare, but a great snare is how you make it sound in any room yoo're in.

  • gretsch is awesome, PERIOD.

  • it sounds a lot like the black panther velvetone!

  • look shane is on tv ha ha

  • Oh

    my

    god.

Every drummer wants to find the right sound that makes them feel confident everytime they hit thier drums, i have just found it,

  • that medium tuning sounded fucking ace!

  • May I do a request for the Gretsch hammerd brass 14X8" ?

  • I know what you mean about the 8x14 snares. All I get anymore are custom snares that are all 8x14, because I just love the tones pulled out of them. I really can't wait to get my next snare, which is going to be an 8x14 solid brass shell. I've only ever heard one before, and boy does it crack.

  • snare shopping (as always)... love your videos...

however trying to a/b snare drums would be much easier if you would use the same mic and mic technique...

I've just watched 3 different vids (dunnett 14x8, brady 14x8, and this one), and I've seen a sm57, an audix, and a room mic(assumed, because there is no mic in sight) respectively.

This makes it very difficult to know whether the difference in sound is due to the drum, the mic, or the mic proximity. Same preamp for all compression?

  • @jeffpettit1

The audio recordings up to this point have been a lot of trial and error. No preamps. Just a mic plugged into a Sony HD camera. The room mic seems to work the best. We've got a ton of new ones coming up, we'll do our best for you all.

    Thanks for watching!

  • @DrumCenterNH

    thanks for the quick response.

    love this drum.

  • @jeffpettit1 This is my exact argument for nearly every drum video ever made!!

  • @jeffpettit1 this comment is both clever and stupid ;)

    (just kidding don't worry ^^)

a recorded snare will never give you the real sound of a snare ..play it live to know !!! :)

  • looks beautiful

  • I SO WANT ONE!!!

  • You guys should really demo the snares with a standard maple kit.

  • Yummmmyyyyyy :)
