I swear if no one actually looked up Dihydrogen Monoxide and still wanted to ban it, I would go into full conservative republican mode. It's not burning the skin as such, more freezing and damaging the nerves and tissues under and surrounding the ice. The effect is similar to a burn you would receive from touching a hot object to the skin.

The word "di" means "two particles of sth, linked together" so "dihydrogen" is a chemical with two hydrogen particles linked together (H2). Oxide, or monoxide, means that it's a chemical that contains oxygen (O). Therefore, Dihydrogen Monoxide! (H2O) XD

The point of the specutacle around DHMO is to show how misunderstood science is. I mean if I told you that I created a chemical in a lab that had all of these characteristics you'd probably freak out, but I wouldn't be able to appeal to you with, "It's just water." Instead I'd have to say, "It's relatively harmeless," but amisdt the alarmist statistics and reporting no one would believe me.

We forget when it's worded differently. However, there ARE a lot of dangerous chemicals being used in our food and water supplies without our informed consent, and this hoax serves as a "lesson" to not listen to the "alarmists" and disregard danger. "See, it's only water". Right, and fluorine is good for teeth, so we should ingest it.
