Love your videos, especially your Heavy Metal ones ;-) LOL Could you do a video of the new Gibson SG with the "Baked" rosewood fretboard? I'd love to see how it sounds compared to the 2011 Gibson SG with the Rosewood fretboard. They say it is supposed to sound like an Ebony board. Thank's.
@jujowillan This guitar is good for punk to hard rock. If you want to play some metal stuff you might want to swap out the bridge pickup with something a little hotter. The LP Studio faded is $749.00 at nstuffmusic but you have to call 412-828-1003
Absolutely, most classic rock guitar players used les pauls at some point in their careers. Everyone from Slash, Jimmy Page, Pete Townsend and Richie Sambora all used Les Pauls. This is a great guitar and we also have Epiphone and ESP Les Paul models in the same price range and even some a less expensive, there is also always our used guitar site too.
do you think this guitar can play some classic hard rock, like guns n roses scorpions bon jovi and this kind of stuff.if not is there any good guitar in an average price to buy?
@mizens97 yes... but you sound like a beginer. There are some greatly priced guitars you can buy: Epiphones are nice, parker PM20 are excellent (I own one and let me tell you: its amazing, but a little "jazzier") and mexican stratocasters
Just ordered mine today! Dude, you really know ow to demo a guitar! You don't overplay but you give us a nice plentiful sample of what it can do and explain features. I'm sure your store sells alot of those!
Thanks!, I already play it in a store here in Miami, I love that guitar maybe I'm gonna buy it this week, thank you for help me to choose which one buy.
Is there a big difference between all mahogany and maple top? Please answer. I bought the all mahogany and now Im tormented thinking I should have bought the one with maple...
@orithelion The maple top will give the guitar more attack, and a brighter, more treble-y sound... The mahogany top, on the other hand, leads to a warmer sounding guitar. If you're really that tormented, I'm sure you could find somebody to trade with, or get pickups voiced for more treble response.
@zzseba I think as of 2011 Gibson started putting maple tops on. The older ones were all mahogany. $749.00 at nstuffmusic but you will not find it on our website you'll have to call 412-828-1003
One thing that I really like about this site, Im not too comfortable about buying a guitar I havent put my hands on, but I would take Marks word and playing and feel completely comfortable buying one of these without playing it first.
Hey would you mind helping me out, I have the exact same guitar but my g string always comes out of tune, I'm wondering if you have any tips or things to help keep it in tune
@vooodoochild17 If you do a string lock on the string and stretch it real good that will usually help. Also you might try some lube in the nut (Big Bends nut lube)
@vooodoochild17 it helps to notch/file just a little on the nut, gibson is infamous for this,,check it first by,,above the nut when its tuned press on the string,,if u hear kink! and its out of tune,,,file it
Hi, great demo. One question, some people complains about the faded finish, it´s beautiful but seem that wears quickly and it stain with sweat ... and direct light change body color.. of course, guitars are babys, they need much care :) , but this is true? Thanks, seriously thinking y buy one of this but Blue Satin model, awesome. Thanks
@zzseba Hi- sorry for late reply- but I agree with NstuffMusic, I have had this same guitar for several years and use it pretty often. The neck finish shines up and smoothes out a bit, but thats it so far. Do not use any waxes or strong cleaners on it. At most, a lightly damp cloth is all you need to clean it. I love this guitar the way it plays and the feel of the finish- I doubt you would regret getting one, its great!
I love this guitar!!!! have to play it using my bos headphones for now going through garage band, but I just can't get enough of the feel this guitar has!
@uberwolf1 I like the Les Paul Studio Faded better I think it has better craftsmanship. $749.00 at nstuffmusic with free shipping. You have to call not online 412-828-1003 ask for Jason.
Hey, can this guitar make sort of a progressive rock sound, like Alex Lifeson (Rush), or Steve Howe (Yes)? Also, can it make an AC/DC heavy rock 'n roll sound? I am thinking of either buying this or a Fender American HSS Stratocaster, which is better for the sound I'm looking for?
Yes. You are in the market for a Gibson Les Paul. Lifeson uses them and so does Howe. They both use more high-end hollow bodies too...however....this guitar (with your Angus Young reference) is right up your alley. Seriously...it has some SG qualities along with some Standard Les Paul beef. From what you've described...this is the one.
No problem. I think the main reason Mark is demoing this guitar with a Fender Hot Rod Deville 2x12 is to show the clarity and tone. (The Deville has one of the best clean channels one the market...if not one of the best of all time.)
However...with a great overdrive channel (Marshall, Mesa Boogie) you will be finding your overdrive sound in no time. Overall the best tone comes from the hands first and the guitar second (which this guitar has). Everything else is secondary.
@astrophysics123 I use mine through my Marshall Vintage Modern on a daily basis and this thing can handle anything you can throw at it. Compared it to my bud's 1958 RI from the 80s and the sound was nearly identical (the faded had a little more bass response).
You won't be disappointed. The older ones have a much darker finish than the one in this video (much more beautiful imo)
That amp don't do this guitar justice man, I recommend at least a Marshall AVT275 amplifier if you're serious about buying a Gibson. The Gibson itself doesn't comprehend for all of the great sound quality, you need a suitable amp to go with it
@Daemonfury1 Both would be OK for metal but the non faded studio has hotter and brighter sounding pickups which would be better for metal or you could put in some active EMG pickups and it would be great for metal.
@sandergrandia you have so much to learn if you think an amp is shit just because it's a fender. even if you could actually say what it is you think is wrong with fender amps it'd just be your opinion and mean nothing to anyone else.
@BOOBYBROS Yeah but try to get any customer service after the sale...GOOD LUCK WITH THAT ONE! They cannot come close to even the condition you get the guitar when buy from us. We go over it with a fine tooth comb, and make sure it play like a dream.
@AldoZuper The guitar is $749.00 with gig bag plus shipping would cost $240.00 via UPS. Since your out of the country we only except bank transfer as payment. If your interested let me know and I will send you the bank info.
