  • Obama's Health Care Attempt, Can it hurt or help America's residents. . . ? Your opinions need to be spoken!!! Goto my utube channel page and find out how

  • Here in Europe we find it hard to understand why anybody would be against universal healthcare, America is the only country in the industrialized world where uni. healthcare is not implemented, it seems pretty primitive that it is not a part of the american way, where's the solidarity in america??? So much for the greatest country in the world!!!

  • dude ppl in the usa are confused too. its like some ppl here want to villainize being altruistic. its like they want everyone who cant afford healthcare to just fucking die. its sad. we are provided education by the government, why not healthcare? we are suppose to be garanteed life and liberty in this country yet i find only a class system paved on the backs of the middle class. which is really the lower class because it averages out the handful of ppl in this country that have all the money.

  • AMEN!!!

  • Many Americans are asking the same question!!!

  • anybody who believes this will help us are so ignorant. The system isnt broken. we need jobs not insurance.

  • Without jobs, you have NO insurance.

  • alot of employers cannot hire workers because of increasingly sky high health care premiums insurers provide, which contribute the downward economic spiral.

  • The question is WHY are insurance premiums so high? WHY is the price of medications and medical procedures SO HIGH? IF these entities are NOT controlled, they will, AS THEY HAVE SHOWN, continue to; price gouge, kill the economy and, essentially.....kill people!

  • According to Washington, there are many positives in the bill. One major point is the fact that it will prevent insurers to discriminate against people with preexisting conditions. However, I feel that this will cause uninsured people to only get insurance when they are sick. Why fritter your money away on pointless premiums if youre not sick; might as well wait till you are and then buy the insurance

  • No, that is restricted in the bill. You will have to have some form of insurance and if you do not, you will be fined just like with auto insurance. You have a choice as to what kind of insurance you want, job provided, personal or governemnt, causing the current insurance companies to have to cut costs so they can compete with a more efficiently run insurance system. In other words....sorry CEO, your 9 million a year salary is GONE, just like our American citizens they will have to suffer too.

  • This is America, you don't have to have a car and buy auto insurance, government does not have the right to tell you what you have to buy. The auto inurance symbolism is a crock. And employer provided insurance will be gone they will all go with the cheaper government option so hello total government control. Remember if the government can give it to you then can take it from you. Then what do you do?

  • We are the government. That will never happen.

  • Okay that is just sad and ignorant I'm sorry.

  • Sad and ignorant is the person who fears their governement (when it's the Government that is to fear us) and takes no part in voting for those people and policies who represent us.

  • @colossus172 less gov't is the answer to prosperity. this healthcare reform means the they will control even more of our lives. they suck at what they do. Wasting our money

  • We tried that already, less taxes, less government and look what happened... No jobs, no healthcare, no homes while the few select have it all.

  • i dont know what you're talking about....I worked to get what I have and studied on my own. If people are lazy and dont want to develop skills they get less pay...dont forget that half the working have been supporting the welfare recipients for years...maybe its time everyone pulled their weight and try to do better for themselves. Welfare leads to abuse of it and drug dealers from those places.

  • I agree with you on Welfare. It was originally created as a temporary fix but we abused it like everything else. When it comes to healthcare however, I feel it should be provided for the good of the people. We're talking about human lives not lazy Americans. There's a big difference

  • right there is a penalty, but i heard this penalty is as low as $95.00 a yr. still not enough motivation even if is twice that. the government also plans to pay for this by taxing healthcare providers. in my opnion, there wont be much to tax because many will go bankrupt!

  • The gov't has no right to tell me to carry health insurance...and just when did we have less govt?

hahaha ..go back in time and see what happened to the dollar...the gov't has been destroying what is meant to be free on this earth. people need to be free with opportunity to perform at their best...why dont you know anything about history? look there and you'll no what has happened to the country

  • The government is telling you to carry car insurance isn't it? What do you think is more important? The wealthy are forced to pay into Social security, do you think they will ever need it? Ever use it? In theory, your right, we need to be free but because of previous administrations, we have little opportunity. We can perform at our best and still have nothing come from it including healthcare.

  • who do you think improved life all around the world...its America...They have made incredible wealth from us Americans...you are ignorant completeley...Who do you think is buying all these things made in foreign countries? Who reaps the benefits?

  • Your kidding right? We work more then any other country with less benefits. We may effect the world economy with our dollar but China now owns our asses.......with interest.

  • They all look to me like a bunch of hand outs asking for free stuff on the expense of all of us hard working Americans.

If they need healthcare they need to go and get a job. I worked for a company for 14 years and I was covered by my insurance. I change job and I was covered by the COBRA program, while I was waiting to be insured in my new job, I got hurt at my job and I was covered 100% by workers comp so..... alll of this is nothing but a lie to take away our freedoms.

  • Obviously you don't understand that there are more hardworking Americans who simply can't afford insurance. How many lost their healthcare provided jobs over the past couple years and how many of those were denied further coverage due to pre existing conditions or lost everything they have worked hard for simply because of the greed of private healthcare. Those who do not work get full healthcare through the government already for free, this reform is to help all of us working save money/lives.

  • What I do understand is that there are 260 million Americans that are insured and happy with their insurance coverage. What you don't understand is that the rest of the 40 million choose not to be insured because they don't want to pay deductibles or because they just refused to be insured. It's only a small percentage that actually cannot afford to pay yet when they are sick they will be admitted to any hospital in the country. For the right of a minority, mayority lose DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?

  • They are happy because they are healthy! Or pay 3x more for the best insurance and can afford it, Or have insurance through our government. And no, most don't choose NOT to be insured simply because they don't want to pay deductibles. Ask your self this, how many people lost their jobs within the past 2 years? How many of those had health concerns and were being treated but now can't get insurance, nor afford it if they could even get it? There is a much bigger picture here.

  • @jeangrey65 yes we need jobs first

healthcare reform is a con to make the gov't bigger...we dont need a complete overhaul to improve the system.

  • i have worked and had no healthcare over last year....for me or my daughters...oh well...I still wont sell my soul to gov't because if we do...much much worse than now for all of us...they caused the problem...by misrepresentation over last 20 years plus...they have ignored Americans and just rape us for our scraps to support them...

  • @nickotime01 great for u and granted there are some who are in the same fortunate position as you. But at the same time, people have lost their jobs and possibly have worked for 10yrs + and having a very difficult time finding jobs because mostly they are not hiring. People are unemployed for a period of weeks or even months. They still have to be regularly seen.

  • It is simple to me,either you are for the public or you are for the corporate scum,no nurses or Doctors will be out of work, it will just shift around, the only damage from public option is it will decrease insurance profits, which is good for 97 % of Americans

  • Please get real!!! Many technologists that do the tests everyone wants paid for by the public option will be paid 25% less or more!!! How do you think hospitals will cut costs?! PEOPLE WILL LOOSE JOBS!!!

  • Those people will be needed for the reform. You should consider looking up the facts and the facts are that doctors and hospitals aren't the ones causing the USA to spend over 3X for healthcare then any other Country. It's the greedy pharmaceutical and private insurance companies. They will have to downsize and compete with the government healthcare providers. I know many doctors who prefer Medical patients to private insurance any day. Why? Because they now they are going to get paid.

  • Medical patients was suppose to mean Medicare maybe? Medicare doesn't reimburse enough as is to cover the cost of the tests as is. Thirty people working in food services at our local hospital all got laid off because of needed "downsizing to cover losses" there. They are not well paid or well off but the innocent victims of this social program. You should consider looking into this bill and getting to know what is going on and who will be affected by this. Please think for yourself.

  • i have no doubt that some clinics will go out of business, but that is the nature of reversing unchecked capitalist frenzy and fervor. You gotta take the good with the bad. Instead of 45% of all personal bankruptcies being linked to medical bills you'll have some unscrupulous nurse practitioners and physicians assistants closing their pain clinics down. Those are the real whiners btw.

  • A single working person with minimum wage job pays $28 a month in Canada for all medical needs, you can have any doctor you want, any surgeries you will ever need, hospital stay, family doctor visits, specialist visit, walking in clinics all for 28 dollars a month, which private insurance company does that in the USA?

In Canada if you are broke you dont pay shit and get the same medical coverage as your prime minister, how is that for fairness and respect for human life?

  • @Commonsenseification very fair, come to think about it for us to be considered the most powerful country in the world, we are fighting and making an issue about universal healthcare. So busy worrying about getting their pockets fatter and not concerning whether human lives could be at stake here.

  • here is what the politicians are saying. " i promise to make sure you dont get denied by an evil insurance company! i will pledge that you are denied healthcare by a loving bureaucratic agency!"

here is what these people are saying. "WE HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES!!! WAHHA I WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO TAKE CARE OF ME AND GIVE ME FREE STUFF!!!" "blah blah blah, (insert obama catch phrase) SINGLE PAYER!!!

  • You forgot to add give me free stuff take it away from the middle class and hand it over to me. That is what America have become, a country where you come to take advantage of the hard working people. more immigrants will come here get food stamps, free housing and free health insurance. What is the need for them to work.

  • the illuminated flooded this country with 3rd world illegal immigrants. to conquer this country one must use stealth. its quite simple to anyone who is above the level of a clever monkey.

  • @RoyalDemonforChrist it's not what the people are saying at least most of them anyway. When u look at some of the other countries like europe and canada that has universal healthcare, you can still pay a low cost per month and still receive good quality health service as much as people with higher economical backgrounds.

  • Instead of focusing on insurance Companies, tort reform, or eliminating duplication of tests, the Medicare commission (CMS) recently proposed simply cutting payments to doctors for CTs , MRIs and PET scans by 40% next January. Great, until you consider the cost of producing the images is greater than the pay. Nationally, every CT, MRI, and PET scan done on a Medicare patient would lose money .

How many imaging centers will this drive out of business? Not looking good for universal coverage

  • A recent survey says that 68% of americans support a public option of insurance, modeled on Medicare, although only 29% said they would use it. The problem is that when this program becomes big enough, every imaging center across the country will be faced with the dilemma of limiting or eliminating slots for the public option patients to stay afloat, or to go out of business. Good luck getting an appointment for anyone.

  • There is a reason that Canadian and British Drs are trying to use ultrasound instead of MRI to diagnose meniscal tears (by the way, it can't be done), and trying transcranial ultrasound instead of MRI for adult brain imaging (also can't be done). It's cheaper. Nevermind that it doesn't work. Try getting an MRI for a brain tumor in a "universal care" country. You'll soon realize that the all-important preventive care approach is a little less important than originally thought.

  • You don't fucking know what you're talking about. I live in the US, but I'm from Europe originally, my mom's getting old and she had to get surgery. Was all free and it's state of the art all the way. Btw, I always go home when I need dental stuff done. The ticket pays for itself and the equipment is WAY better there...

  • Obviously you don't. I do MRI's for a living and the way this reform bill is written many people will go without this service they desperately need. What this country needs is a flat tax and not let anyone out of paying their fair share. Then we can go from there to fix health care.

  • Very true who is going to take care of those people put out of work when those centers close?

  • This is Bullshit.

  • really obama is doing all he can.

he supports universal health care but he can't do anything about it b/c all the big companies have people in politics on the payroll or "campaign donations" to make sure it doesn't happen.

  • but O bama is the president he can do whatever he wants to.

  • The right wing is controlled by the insurance industry. They are trying to buy this debate. What do I care about the insurance industry and its fat overpaid executives. They don't give a fuck about me.

  • Whats depressing is that many Democrats are also in the politics of insurance companies and other special interests.

  • What a disaster this would be. I dont know why people cant see the flaw in letting a 3rd party pay for all your health care bills.

I dispise Obama and his policies but I have to commend him on reneging on his single payer promise. You think cost are low now, just wait and see what will happen if everyone gains access

  • ah yes, clearly it's been disasterous in canada, sweden, norway, finland, france, britain, ireland, spain, italy, portugal, switzerland, japan, iceland, the netherlands, and the rest of the 1st world. idiot.

  • that was a good video I personally think there will never be free health care for Americans Obama just said all that stuff before the election to get elected thats why I plan to move to Canada in a few years and have free health care.

  • Socialize your healthcare, Like us in Canada. USA need a lot of work. A revolution is what you really need.

  • can someone tell me, are they talking about "healthcare" or insurance?? The media treats it as one thing, isnt it quite different?

  • Practically it's the same. Health care in general means any sort of health care system. But it's always about who pays to doctors so that they do their work. it's obvious that single person can not pay to doctor, because their work is expensive, so it has to be some sort of insurance. The question is, should it be a business type insurance (as in America now for regular citizens), or a public type paid via taxes (as in most industrialized countries) - or a little bit of both.

  • roullettechick: when you hear the terms "public option," or "single payer" they're talking about a public health care insurance program.

The health care delivery systems-- doctors, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, other health care facilities, etc-- are not insurance companies.

Behind the scenes it is possible that a corporation may own interest in both a health care insurance company and some other component or components of the health care delivery system, and that is worrisome.

  • #2

    roullettechick:

It's worrisome if corporations completely take over insurance and the health care delivery system because they'll have the kind of power petrochemical corporations have over the supply, distribution, and sale of oil. If we've learned anything over the past several decades, we've learned that the oil industry will do whatever it takes to increase profits. That's what corporations will do (are doing) with health care, too.

  • single payer = socialism

    America = capitalism

singlepayer is not equal to America

  • yea, well capitalism isn't working. People are dieing. Its time for some recognition of the fact that other countries can do it, we are one of the wealthiest. We should of all countries have that security.

  • @isaac 707

Capitalism isn't to blame here, Government isn't working. Government created this entire crisis. If you can't see that then you don't know what the fuck your talking about

  • Well yes, your right, it is governments fault for not stopping these capitalist bastards from mowing trees, chopping mountains, damming up rivers to make profit, and fucking the environment up in general.

    Your completely right.

  • Global warming is a hoax to get more tax money and contrubutions out of our pockets. Cap and tax is the clear example of this.

  • MrNeph pls stop sucking Alex Jones cock so much and think for yourself.

  • Our firefighting system is socialized., so firefighters = socialists by this logic

Name calling and fear mongering is all the Right can offer as their theories are so discredited.

  • Keep up the good fight.

Healthcare is a right, not a privilege!

  • Get rid of health insurance companies and keep the Gov out of it, and it will become affordable...

  • No it won't.

  • Yes it will.

    :-P

  • No, it won't. The best options right now for lowering the cost of health care the single payer plan or the public option.

  • every time insurance companies and the government gets there greedy little paws in anything, the costs go up. Think about it... Give me one example where either has done any good...

    Almost forgot, Yes it will!

  • That's a fallacy.

The LCBO in Ontario, Northern Thai Lumber (I forget the Thai name), the Toronto reservoir facilities. If all you have to support your view is a fallacy then you're either willfully ignorant, brainwashed, or a poor critical thinker.

  • I asked for 1 example! You start off with, thats a fallacy? Pull your block head out of that box your stuck in and smell the corruption all around you. You obviously don't know shit, so you resort to name calling. Want to talk about brainwashing? Ignorance? No Critical thinking? Look in the mirror...

You need to wake up sheeple...

  • I gave you three examples and pointed out that your argument is a fallacy. To claim something will fail merely because it is government controlled is a fallacy because there is nothing in government that inherently makes it fail.

And I didn't resort to an ad hominem. The presented dilemma was presented as a conclusion, not as a premise.

Either learn something about what you're talking about and present a cogent argument or you're a waste of my time.

  • insurance been running a communist like monopoly and they talk about the free market , I want a choice the choice a public option if it is so bad then they have nothing to worry about . if they are so gooooood

  • i think single payer and the public option are the same thing, ...the single payer is the us the taxpayer, the public option is us the taxpaying public

  • The public option is when the government provides a not-for-profit health insurance plan and the single payer policy is like Canada's universal healthcare system.

  • its less ambitious and more expensive. There is a difference.

  • you are absolutely right

  • Thanks, it's nice to see there are those who understand the danger of big government. We have the right to take care of our selves, not health care. The dollar is about to go belly up anyway, there will be nothing on anyones mind but survival real soon...

I just hope people wake up for there own sake. The fox has eaten all the chickens, and now stalks the farmer...

    Peace my friend!

  • look at all these fascist wanting free shit, poor bastards

  • This is an example of large groups of uninformed ignoramuses led by uninformed ignoramuses. Not a single person in the Administration and only a handful in Congress understand health care issues and that the real cause of the rise in price and lower quality is government involvement.

  • Excuse me? ...Non Medicare/Medicaid health care is controlled by the private market in the form of a cartel of giant health insurance companies like Humana, CIGNA and Anthem......Instead of name calling...why don't you elaborate on your "argument" that government is to blame?

  • Government is the single largest payer of HC in the US. They also created the elaborate system of reimbursement that has caused administrative costs to skyrocket. Government is also responsible for ridiculous rules and regulations that benefit the insurance companies and hurt consumers. Without government interference the insurance companies could not be nearly as powerful as they are.

  • jjrglobal, yeah if the evil government would just stay out of the insurance companies way instead of strong arming them to profiteer they would give us all a good deal, lol, hahahahahahahahaha! How did you get this thing backwards? The insurance companies lobby the politicians with millions of dollars so they can get what they want. Right now they have what they want and you speak as if they are the victims right along with the public, are you a comedian?

  • Where do you get the idea that I am for private insurance? How about we use ins as it was intended to be used, in case of catastrophe? You don't call your ins company and file a claim on your homeowners every time you break a window so why would you file a visit to the doctors office that costs far less than that window?Administrative costs dealing with ins co's and the gov is what is driving up the costs and driving out the quality. Get a catastrophic policy and a health savings account .

  • your a hack, a schill and a complete faggot. Go suck some oil drillers cock.

  • you run your mouth kinda reckless for a half wit.

  • Yeah that was a good day! Lots of great people came from all over.

  • The fox wants more chickens in the hen house. Don't trust the farmer, he just wants your eggs. All the fox wants is to protect the chickens from the farmer. Trust the fox. Ignore the farmer. Come on chickens, follow the fox to the hen house, ignore the pot, it's nothing to worry about. Really, we have your best interest at heart. And if you believe this, you're just a chicken running around without a head.

  • But it works. And works in a lot of countries. And works a lot better than American system.

  • Are you Canadian? The taxation is not about inefficiency but rather how it was implemented. Our Health care system started in Saskatchewan with Tommy Douglas and was Provincially funded. When Pearson came into power he simply spread it nationally by telling provinces that they would match their health care contributions for a single payer system. This is how the 50/50 system came to be.

  • Umm no. Our Social programs in Canada were ACTUALLY huge successes. So much so that we privatized them and made a killing doing so (Petro Canada, Hydro One etc). What is a failure to you? A program which runs a deficit? Is the point of health care to derive profit? Or is it to care (compassion)? Think about it.

  • The money system is based on paper, so when the government "borrows" money is all paper right ? So why do we as a country have to pay interest on paper created out of thin air. Huge success you call the EI program a huge success ?

  • The money system is based on gold. The reason why we have to pay interest is because a group of bankers who really run America have created a private monopoly bank called the federal reserve that loans the government money at 1% interest. This way they control everything and keep the government and the citizens of this country in constant debt with no way out. Our money really isn't our money, it belongs to the Federal Reserve. If we get rid of them we can get rid of a lot of problems.

  • The US dollar hasn't been backed by gold since 1971 (Nixon, crook, traitor to his country ended gold backing of the dollar).

They control it alright, the US dollar is pure fiat and is world reserve. Its a base for the world economy right, so when it goes to zero, so does all the rest of the worthless paper.

The Fed needs to go NOW !!!

  • Now as for the quality going down, it went down because of drastic cuts done in 1994 when Jean Chretien came into power. These cuts were implemented with little planning. The fact is that the system is getting better with wait times now having been drastically reduced. We are easily keeping up with the costs. I think you're getting your information from the Heritage Foundation or the Fraser Institute (Corporate shills).

  • I'm getting my information from my personal experiences.

Social programs are just complex ponzi schemes.

Just like the fiat money system that's based on the value of the US dollar. Example: the Canadian government just borrowed 50 billion from "private investors". If the money borrowed isn't backed by anything why borrow when you can print up the money yourself. Borrowing counterfeited money is downright ignorant.

  • Oh wow.. you've been brainwashed by those Ron Paul supporters.

You have to differentiate between what "should" derive profits and what "should" concentrate on care. Health "Care" can run a deficit (because it's meant too) and offer the best care possible. You can make up the difference in other areas (such as defense). It's just about what a society cares more about.. the promotion of life? or that of death.

  • Good point , so what are Canadian troops doing in Afghanistan ? The mission was ex-tented based on ????

Read the extension report our troops are dying for nothing.

I'm all for the promotion of life look at the taxpayer paid Gardisil program, they don't even have an ingredient list available.

  • Beats being brainwashed by:

    Mao

    Stalin

    Lenin

    Comrade....

  • Good thing Liberalism has nothing to do with Communism eh? One ideology is for Liberty and Justice for all while the other is about Tyranny and the removal of any rights to property. Liberalism spawned the United States of America, Canada, France and so many other Liberal Democracies and Republics. It is in the name of justice for the less advantaged and in respect to the ideal that Life is an unalienable right that Single Payer Health Care Systems exist. It's about Compassion.. not profit.

  • Pierre didn't say much about when Nixon a crook, traitor to his country ended gold backing of the US dollar. The Americans can do that no problem, but Trudeau knew what was going to happen to the Canadian people down the road.

I'm all for medical systems, helping people out but if you don't run them correctly they end suddenly. Plus I believe Canadians should be given the choice between western and natural medicine. Some of the bull crap medicine does nothing but harm.

  • Pierre: you're right. People don't realize how heavily influenced they are to vote & shill against their own self interests by propaganda machines like the Heritage Foundation who know a lot of gullible people blindly accept anything wrapped in a red, white & blue flag; graffitied with biblical scripture; and which is addressed to them in care of "family values."

Corporations are fighting hard against public programs because they want private contracts to provide them at 1,000 times the price

  • "vote & shill against their own self interests by propaganda"

I don't know about you but I'm in to reality, not spin.

Gold is money , in the United States its law of the land.

    1776 Gold $20

    2009 Gold $1000 US

How can you have civilization (based on laws) if the super central bank (world reserve "currency"). Is being counterfeited ? How do you explain $1000 US gold if gold's ONLY use is a store of value. (Constitutional Money)

  • Notice our health care system took a hit because of government interference. Just proves even back then the government isn't worried about the taxpayers, they're just out for themselves. No better than a communist run system, all talk (illusion) spin, when it comes to actual benefit "forget about it".

  • Our government has been infiltrated by corporate agents who disguise themselves as the peoples' representatives. All you have to do is look at their voting records to know who is with US or with the Corporations.

If you think the health care system took a hit because there is something fundamentally wrong with our government, you're right. What's wrong with our government is that we've allowed it to be taken over by greedy corporate shills who need to be voted out, immediately.

  • That makes sense just like Gwya should be on trial for "illegal war", 5,000 Patriots are dead, 1.2 million civilians have been slaughtered. The US government is no better than a bunch of Fascist thugs. That's the TRUTH.

"Infiltrated by corporate agents" merger of government with profit oriented corporations is called fascism.

So what are the US citizens doing about it ? Nothing because the majority of US citizens are dumber than a sack of hammers.

  • Bingo!

  • Remember Mr. Trudeau who's IQ was 150 or higher ???

He went along with "world reserve currency having no gold backing. He knew this day would arrive but didn't give a shit because he would be dead. That's the type of Aholes that have been running the country for the last 100 years.

    Intelligent crooks...

  • No... our health care system did not take a hit because of government interference. It took a hit because of bad spending decisions by 8 years of Conservative government under Mulroney (and to some extent Trudeau era policies). Cuts needed to be made across the board to get our deficits in order. Those worked and our health care system is going up again in the ranking. We were 7th now 6th amongst 19 industrialized nations.

  • Single Payer Healthcare systems work. The number don't lie. I have videos which compare these numbers. Did you know that 115/100K Americans die each year from preventable causes. That number is around 64/100K in Canada and we only rank 6th in amongst 19 industrialized nations while the USA ranks dead last at 19.

  • The figures don't lie there's 1.2 million dead Iraqi civilians, the US spent 3 trillion on an illegal war and Obama can't even produce a simple document to prove he can be President.

I call this living in la la land, world governments are totally out of hand and you have idiots talking about medical benefits. This is why the globe's toast, melba.

  • You have to prioritize. If more 50% of the budget of the government goes to the military then you definitely cannot afford it.

  • A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.

    Martin Luther King, Jr.

1 job in 2 in the United States has government as the employer.

    1776 Gold $20

    1971 Gold $35

    2009 Gold $1000 US

How are you going to have a country never mind social programs if the government keeps counterfeiting the value of the money supply into oblivion ?

  • gold is a commodity like any other... gold is not a stable standard when measured in terms of other goods and services.

  • So if gold is a commodity why did it not change price for almost 200 years, and now people pay up to $1000 US ?

What are gold's uses besides money ?

  • oh, gosh... just forget about it ok?

  • it looks pretty

  • It sure does but the market says its worth about $1000 today, when two hundred years ago it was worth no more than $20.

Just means the US dollar can't compete with gold for value.

That's ok except the US dollar is world reserve, so all the rest of the paper is worthless as well. Its all going to 0.

  • The problem with health care in Canada is the private health care lobby using it's influence to force more corruption into it. Only by destroying the public plan can they make their billions on the backs of the poor.

  • Then there's the problem of what kind of "services" Canadians are getting for their hard earned money.

Flu shots cause more harm than good (they have mercury in them), but taxpayers pay for these "benefits" that actually cause sickness instead of prevent. Look at the drug recalls, how much of western medicine is absolute bull crap ?

  • Very true. Drug Lobby's are writing their own laws for our leaders to rubber stamp, and we are paying the price.

  • Not only that they force bullcrap western medicine that has no benefit for the people that its suppose to be helping.

Example : Gardisil (corporate lobbyists talked the Canadian government into injecting the crap into young children)

    - Taxpayer paid sickness, the government doesn't even have an ingredient list or science to back up their claims of prevention of cervical cancer.

Total bullcrap, the taxpayers paid for it all.

  • canada health care spends 10% of the gdp usa 18% .

    need i say more..

  • So what's all these figures based on "monopoly money".

    Paper

The future for not only the United States but the entire globe can be reflected in Zimbabwe right now.

Zimbabwe has the gold standard, you don't pan for gold you don't eat. Healthcare in Zimbabwe you get sick you die.

  • Is the problem inefficiently run public programs, or official corruption? Our laws aren't being enforced. Banking cartels & Wall Street are out of control. They've made deals with the government to socialize losses while privatizing gains-- double, triple & quadruple dipping in the public well for tax cuts, subsidies, no bid government contracts, and all manner of special privileges.

Cut out all this unnecessary corporate welfare & there'll be plenty of funds to run efficient public program.

  • I know its hard to accept but if you haven't noticed yet the US Federal Reserve note is about to become worthless.

The US instead of country that follows its own constitution , and since they have been counterfeiting money since 1971 is toast. Melba, Endgame, siara nara, This talk about "social" benefit is an illusion exactly for the reasons you have stated . If the globe wasn't toast , world reserve currency would be measured in gold $20 US (paper) would buy 1 oz of physical gold.

  • boots920: gold is pretty, but you can't eat it, fuel a car with it, or get it to run your factory for you, either.

People need to get their heads around the fact that money is merely a symbol for the equitable exchange of things with real value-- labor, goods, services, real property, etc-- and it is those things which "back" the dollars we carry around in our pockets; not shiny metals, sparkly stones, or Disney like dreams.

The problem with currency is who controls its printing & face value.

  • I know the gold price is just a measurement of the currency, gold 's ONLY function is a store of value because it will never go to zero (no value). If the economy was a sports car, gold would be the tachometer. Right now the driver (central bank) the government (gas pedal) are over revving the engine (economy) by counterfeiting "MONEY".

The engine blows up right if the driver is incompetent.

In this case by counterfeiting money the car is deliberately being driven over a cliff.
