My dog was just recently hit by a car, and found the next morning (rednecks apparently don't report hitting dogs), its a great relief to see your doggie is so happy with its missing leg. He is having his right front leg removed tomorrow, any tips on how to take care of him while he is adjusting to his new body?

This makes me so happy. My yellow lab will be having the same leg amputated this month. He loved to run and I was worried he wouldn't be able to without his leg. I'm glad to see he'll be running again.

@MurkzHD Hey! Im really sorry for him ): It will be hard to get used to for some dogs, because you know its life changing! My boy only had to recover within 1-2 week, & he was up & running & jumping again! It really depends on the dog itself to be in this situation. Walking normally MIGHT take a while, & dogs will gradually get used too it. Then soon after, he'll hopefully be back as he was before. Just give him lots of love & exercise!

This video cheered me up so much, my lurcher just had her leg amputated yesterday. She's not the brightest bulb in the box and thought it'd be a good idea to chase my mum's horse and she got kicked and her leg got snapped. She's coming home today - it was heartbreaking seeing her at the vet yesterday - and I was so worried she wouldn't cope .... but your dog seems so happy, and my lurcher is one of those dogs that are always wagging their tail :) xxx thanks for this vid. x

My dog had her leg amputated just yesterday. The same exact leg too. Fortunately, my parents are both veterenarians, so I knew she was in good hands. She's still recovering, and already walking. Before surgery, she was the most anxious, happy-go-lucky dog. I know that she will be fine, and this video just gives me more courage that she will be fantastic!

Why do people have to be so judgmental? Some dogs need the amputation because of birth defects or inability to correct the problem. It's not always due to a person's negligence, that's actually hardly ever the case.

@George665511 Many (probably the majority of) 3-legged dogs lost their leg to cancer. The temporary pain of an amputation surgery is nothing compared to the extreme bone pain of an osteosarcoma tumor, and offers these dogs the chance at many months of happy, pain-free life with the family they love. Please don't judge anyone for having a three-legged dog - chances are they have gone through a lot (both financially, and emotionally) in order to do the best thing possible for their friend.

We went to a Humane Society in our town, and we found a Cocker Spaniel and Maltese mix, and we only saw one side of him and I was all"Aww!" but then when he turned around I saw that the left leg was gone, But we still adopted him because I felt sorry for it. But he gets along like he has 4 legs. This video reminds me of him when we play with a tennis ball.

i got a dog from humanes society several years ago. i knew it had been abused beforehand and he always had a limp. last year some asshole shot him in my yard. when the leg was amputated the vet found out that leg bone had been fused with his collar bone and one rib. after he lost the leg within a week he could run faster and climb the stairs he coulnt before. amazing and he is still doing great. and recently he has aquired the skill of standing on his 2 hind legs

People could sure learn from animals. I don't know the history of this dog, but at some point, for some reason, he lost a leg. Despite this, it doesn't seem to slow him down much, does it. It's full speed ahead with the tail a waggin, on with life as if nothing happened! It was the logical choice as if there were no other. So you think you have problems, well let me tell you brother, you've just been schooled, as Yogi just taught you a life lesson!
