Interesting information. But the voice and cover-up distracted people from the information. I note with some interest, that's exactly how the Republicans play dirty--they create distractions, with some assurance that we won't notice the facts. the bi-partisan (10 gops, 4 dems) Alaska legislative report is in, and it accuses palin of abusing her power in violation of two state ethics laws in the troopergate scandal.
the report doesn't recommend charges one way or the other.

I'm not sure of your point. I'm saying the free speech was always there, and it was routinely abuse and squelched by authorities in the form of government, military, religion, etc etc etc. the founding fathers were the first to successfully recognize it and integrate it into a national setting, although there had been attempts before America.
Interestingly, wikipedia has a paragraph on how "early" Islam recognized free speech as necessary. not so much these days.
