Elamorro, wifi does not count for either phone minutes or data. Some places charge to use their wifi, but there is, also, lots for free.

its because you let the 3g start first, the 3gs is only getting left-over wifi that the 3g isnt using.

Bandwidth is not allocated first come first serve. The packets will all go into the same buffer and get the same delays as it fills and they will share.

On the other hand saturating a network connection twice could provide unpredictable results.

I upgraded to the 3G S and videos on YouTube are supper slow to buffer!!!! The 3G was a ton faster in loading the videos... I'm not sure if it's just the 3.0 update and I hope when the 3.1 update comes out it will be fixed. It really pisses me off when they say it's 2 times faster when it takes 15 minuets just to load a 2 minuet video!

I'm wanting to buy a 3GS also but I want the 3G coz it's cheaper on eBay. :D I want to ask you, since I'm a Youtuber, did you test this using 3G or wi-fi internet ? How long does it take for 3G to play the vid compared to the 15 min to load a 2 min vid? This doesn't happen to everyone right ? Thanks ! :)

Over 3G network, videos load instantly on my 3GS. Over Wi-Fi they have gotten faster to buffer but still not as fast as my old 3G. I suggust that you buy the 3GS because it has better graphics, voice command, video, and double the space. I'm pretty sure you won't have the same problem as me.

Apple went to a cheaper lower cost wifi chip in the 3gs. Marvell was in both the 2g and 3g iPhone. Broadcom chip sucks, plain and simple. Apple not everything is about margins.

FWIW, Netgear routers SUCK. I've gone to all d-link in my house, centering on a D-Link Xtreme N™ Gigabit Router (DIR-655) and it's been AMAZING. I NEVER have to reset the router, or basically go into it for anything. It just sits there and does its job and causes no trouble.

Some netgears suck. but the one I have, netgear rangemax wireless N WNR834B v2 hasn't crashed on me ones. I have two computer hooked up and a 360 and a ps3. downloading stuff at 3.5MB per sec without any issues what so ever. best router I've had.

Very interesting video. You even got better results over 3g than over wifi! Haven't heart anything else about this. If it's a wide spread issue there ought to be more reports about this. Have you heard/read anything about this elsewhere? I'm still getting the 3gs when it's launched July 31st though!

Feel your pain, I have a time capsule. My wife still has a 3g and my aunt has a 2g, my kids both have an ipod touch and i get very similar results, i get between 90 to 300kbps on the 3gs. 3g, 2g, and touch get 1300- 1400kbps I've tried replacing the phone 3x, multicast rate, interference robustness, time capsule firmware (downgrade and upgrade), 802.11b, g, n with b/g, measured with apps for the iphone and web apps. Spent $300 and extended my contract, and it performs worse (wifi) than my 3g.

This particular test seems flawed. Did you not noticed that - despite what the figures say - the 3GS was finishing first, repeatedly? Moreover, it clearly whizzes through the downloads - just watch the figures as it downloads.

Try a different speedtest - like Xtreme Speedtest - to see what happens. I just did, and in the same conditions it reports much faster figures than the DSLReports app.

Perhaps the DSLReports app is exhibiting an underlying flaw here?
