120 Minutes on Mtv then flip to Kids in the Hall & Mystery Science Theatre 3000, fall asleep and dream what it'd be like if youbhad the balls to strip all that riduculous protective junk off ur board and skate the handrails with the rest of us!
paint a DK, DRI, Black Flag & Misfits emblem on ur grip tape, sk8 down the street, pick up ur board or boneless over the curb that has a crack in the sidewalk a foot away cuz your poser-@ss couldnt ollie it, let alone no-comply off the very same crack, jump back on, get to the 'crews' parking block at the plaza and attempt your weak@ss tries of slappies, tail blunts, hurricanes, rail slides, grinds, etc. Get frustrated, go to 7-11, go home in the same routine, watch Post Modern or 120 Minutes o
make sure you dont cover your cute lil powell-peralta dragon, don't forget your soft little grip pads at key points under your board for bonelesses, slap a 'skateboarding is not a crime' sticker on your mom's bumper (cuz dad will STILL kick ur @ss if you put it on his!),
movies was just another way for hollywood to make a few more bux in the 80's. Gimme weekend at bernie's anytime!
You want the 80's skate scene summed up in a few minutes of video, watch natas kaupus, mike vallely or better yet....Suicidal Tendencies - Possessed to Skate music video!! Throw on you Jam's shorts, you poser-@ss vision street wear, your 3/4" riser pads, your rail guards, your nose bone, your tail bone, tracker trucks with copers and grind guard, put on your two piece grip tape and
I'll give it a thumbs up just cuz it's from my old days, but honestly this movie was so ghey to me & my friends. We didnt have a whole lot to watch back in the day & i remember we used to skip thru all the vert stuff on bones brigade vids and watch the street shįt. This movie & gleaming the cube was killin us! Thank God for hokus pokus, shackle me not, public domain & all the underground skate vhs's! While i give my respects and will watch Thrashin' & Rad again, i have to say that making these
This guy should be playing He-Man ! I know he was too young in the 80 ,he was like 18 in Thrashin' but he looks a lot like the pumped up guy from Eternia !
Rich ass spoiled valley kids listen to that new wave stuff while the locals listen to kickass thrash n punk like slayer n anthrax n dead kennedys lml,
As a kid I loved this movie. Now I know I'm grown up when I started thinking, "surely Hook and the Daggers must be renters. I mean Cali real estate is way too expensive. Then again, I never see them going to work, how do they make money to pay rent?" Still love this movie!!!...........Sk8 or Die!!!
@kewlfx i agree with your comment, but there's a bunch of errors in the movie that people dont seem to notice, at the start for exampe it says 30$ on a noe and there's only 2x 10$ taped on :) but the movie really is great, i loved it when i was young and i still do now...
I remeber wishing my parents would leave me money on the mirror. Also trying to get my dad to build a half pipe! He ended up building us a launch ramp. He tried!!
I was like 10yo when this movie made it to my hometown videoclub (somewhere in north Spain). It had such a huge impact that all the kids took up skateboarding. This was the only contact with pro skating we had for years, so we'd watch the movie get all pumped up and then go out to try the tricks. It was so much fun to get on those flat-nose skateboards, now I'm 30yo and I still skateboard, still good fun but just not the same. Thanks for the video mate
if i remember correctly, this movie went directly to video when it came out in 1986, or, if i was released theatrically, it came and went in a flash....in other words it bombed
I also rented the fark out of this VHS! Ha haha I got the torrent of the internet, but i cant get it on Dvd. Anyone know where i can get this from!!!!! Its been a life long search
Would anyone have thought while watching this back in the day, that Josh Brolin would one day be portraying the president in a movie! Thanks to YouTube the 80's will live forever!!!
are you on glue, Gleaming the cube was so gay, Thrashin was and still is the greatest skate movie of all time. meat and potatoe pie, can of vimto & Thrashin every dinner time for 5 years, them were the days
HAHAHA I love Youtube! A finally found some clip from this awesome movie. Me and my friends i Sweden watched this movie so many times so the tape get broked. We skate a lot and also biulded a ramp by ourself.

ahhh, the best! I was about 9 when I saw this, great memories! The race at the end, "the LA Massacre", well I am from Orange county, a city called La Habra, and we had this wimpy little hill and we called it the LH Massacre...great times, and YES you want to watch this movie. FYI, early chilli peppers play live in the beginning of the film, pre-Frusciante
Man, talk about memories. I grew up in this era of skating. It was so different back then, the boards, the clothes and the attitude was great. It was everything combined, punk and metal. Just a great time to be a kid.
