This has been one of my favorite songs for a very long time, you captured its mystery and tragic beauty wonderfully. Thank you- don't worry about technique- as long as you can feel the music- technicalities should never matter...all about the feeling hun. <3
Thanks everyone, I do love this piece. As for the video, this was a few years ago and my technique here is not a good model for any classical guitar students. I'm carrying too much tension in my neck and shoulders, my right hand is weak and the angles are all wrong, and I hesitate and drop notes all over. In spite of all that, I really appreciate all the feedback and am glad you all enjoy!
Oh, and one other thing... I'm sorry but I will never tab something out. Tab is the devil.
I think He has very good representation of the fragile parts of Kojounotsuki with the sweet sound of the koto(japanese harp). If the composer(Rentaro Taki) is still alive, Taki sensei must be surprised to hear his playing. Thank You(From Japan)
Fantastic - but scary how much you look like me - my wife even though it was a video of me playing until you lifted and turned your head. Wish I could play so well - beautiful.
the variations on the theme are beautiful, inventive and, of course, well played.
but for me, well, the song has lost its gloomy simplicity and much of its introspective atmosphere with these variations. I mean, for me, they are much brighter and faster than I feel this song is supposed to be played. Well, it's about the image of an abandoned castle surrounded by a delicate veil of mist and lit only by the full moon, it should be slow and misterious.
I hadn't listened to this song in a million years, but I can still sing "parts" of it in Japanese. In an elementary school I went to in Tokyo (where Taki Rentaro "sensei" was an alumnus), we all sang this song on occasions. Listening to you play it just gave me tremendous chills and made me unbelievably emotional thinking back to those innocent and much simpler days. My eyes are welled up right now...
WOW! i was researching for a music assignment looking for something with the vocals too. now i'm wishing i focus my assignment on guitar!!! noice job!
You are a beyond words guitarist! You are what many of of inspire to be! Kojo No Tsuki? You are amazing.... I hope that your day of fame will come because it is well earned! If you can sing then you will be #1!!!!
I like Scorpions version better! But, this was really cool.

i love your caesuras..even though you admit to dropping notes, i think it lends itself readily to a kind of natural harmony. rhythm is perfect.

琴の様な甘美な音色で、荒城の月の曲の持つ儚い部分を良く表現されていると思います。滝廉太郎先生が御存命なら、貴方の演奏に感動すると思います。ありがとう(フロム日本)。

Dude, this improvisation in PERFECT. You really played a story of abandoned castle, not just another Kojo no tsuki melody with some random notes.

Wow I LOVE this! I've only heard this on koto, and we've only played the shortened version.
Wow it's amazing how different it is played on a different instrument. Fantastic job! You make me miss playing classical guitar...
Keep up the awesome work! *favorites* :D
