The kickass melodies are not inherent to metalcore. The guitar style here can be likened to melodic death metal. A lot of metalcore would otherwise be melodeath were it not for the vocals. I'm not into metalcore at all, but at least this guy is actually playing well instead of doing that chugga chugga garbage.
